Pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, good rural location (but on a main road), reasonable prices. Food average to good; portions also average to good (puddings too small); same gravy served with all main courses (Sunday lunch time) whether beef, chicken or vegetarian! Not a bad dining...experience but forgettable in terms of the food. Service fairly good - not kept waiting too long.More
My daughter arranged to meet here as its midway between us. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful changing our table as the one we were at had a draft. The food was so good we will definitely meet here again....A big thank you.More
Really good place to go for a bite to eat as a couple or with the family. Have been a few times now. They have great inside and outside seating (would opt for outside if noise is an issue to any of your party). Great...staff, lovely food and £ is reasonable. Also like their voucher system where you can get £12 off for repeat visits.More
Had booked inside table for party of seven and weather wasn’t great. A friend with a hearing disability arrived unexpectedly and we asked to be served outside as the person concerned couldn’t tolerate the noisy inside atmosphere. Initial Reluctance to do this was replaced (...after an explanation of the problem) with a good and flexible solution and we had a lovely meal in the marquee. Food and service were both excellent and we were so pleased our hearing disabled friend could be included. Top marks!More
A faultless meal experience should always yield a five star rating.
A lovely, clean and comfortable garden with proper chairs and not those annoying pub benches. Swift, polite and friendly service without being overbearing or sickly sweet. The team looked like a well oiled machine....A decently priced menu with a good range of dishes (which appears to be tweaked every day). I had the buttermilk chicken burger which was by a country mile the best I’ve ever had. Dessert was three scoops of ice cream which were delightful. The rest of the food coming out to the other tables (yep I’m one of those nosy customers), looked great. Decent but manageable portions. The drinks were served crisp, fresh and ice cold.
The garden had a really nice ambience with a friendly (and diverse) clientele - the atmosphere was so nice you soon forgot about the road noise. The kids had a play area, and our dog got a bowl of water. I don’t really recognise the pub from some of these other reviews.
I don’t give 5 star ratings often, but this is very well deserved.
After our dinner we strolled into and out the back of Besselsleigh village which was a nice short walk!
Well done team, we’ll be back soon!More
