Firstly you should all be aware that this restaurant is now called “Nazzareno”, not Alessandro’s Sicilian! Secondly and more importantly I do believe it has ceased trading! Certainly there were no signs from outside that it had been open recently! So beware if you were...thinking of eating here!!More

If you are not going to open why accept a booking, or at the least send a cancellation? Fortunately there is a really awesome Italian Pizza/Pasta place around the corner that came to our rescue.

Difficult to find as it’s changed it’s name but not on the website. Pandemic, what pandemic? Tables were on top of the one way arrows and blocked the additional way out, the menus handed to us were grubby and sticky which is horrible at the...best of times let alone now and no detail as we’re taken for track and trace. The general appearance of the restaurant was dull, dirty and old fashioned which didn’t set a good impression. However, the Montepulciano was excellent value and very drinkable. It was a very quiet night with few tables occupied but service was glacial. When the food came it was tasty and clearly freshly made but wow were the portions big! I had opted for mussels as a starter thinking they would be a light dish - it was bigger than most portions I’ve had as a main. The pasta was also huge and I was unable to finish it and neither could my wife finish hers even though she hadn’t had a starter. This reminded me of how things were 30 or so years ago. Like another review I think the owners need to take a good look at their operation and think about modernising and sprucing things up. The quality of the food is good and is something to build on but manage the portion sizes better, this would reduce waste, improve customer satisfaction and enhance profitability. Sadly, not a place I could recommend.More

We were sat down straight away, and a drinks order was taken very quickly. We did wait a bit before the food order was taken but we weren’t in a rush so we weren’t that bothered. We had ordered Pollo Sacha that was poached so...would need at least 30 mins but again, we weren’t on a time limit so we didn’t overly care. At no point did we go thirsty so we were happy. The food came within seconds of each other and was really good, no one had any complaints. The one criticism of the food was the Abbondante pizza was missing the bacon, it was still really nice though. They did apologise for this and gave us a free bottle of wine, so again, no complaints here. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone and we will be back (when we return to Richmond). Bonus: free wifiMore

We arrived for a meal at 8pm. Sat at a table that hadn't been cleaned and had to ask for it to be wiped (during the pandemic). Given a food menu and 10 mins later asked what we wanted to drink and what food we...wanted. No drinks menu. I asked what wine there was and the response was red, white or rose! An Italian restaurant your expect options of drinks. The starters were lacking, pate small portion with Branston pickle. Menu says cranberry. We arrived at 8pm and ate our main at 9.40pm! We has plans to meet friends for drinks that were ruined. Others in the restauraunt waited as long too. The waitresses 4 of them stood talking most of the night and lacked awareness of what was going on. Were not attentive to the visitors. The owner working hard in the kitchen looked stressed to the max, its such a shame as you need to take a step out front to see whats going on. More kitchen staff needed and a supervisor on the floor. The mains weren't as good as when Tony owned it. I wont be back unless I hear things have picked up. I have been many times in the past and this is an utter shame as I like to support small family owned businesses.More

Like the last review, very nice people but this wasn’t a brilliant dining experience. For one thing, who knows an Italian restaurant that only has a choice of 2 wines? Anyway, looking past that, the starters were hardly passable and a bruschetta isn’t a round...of bread with a load of salad piled on top and it would be nice to taste the garlic in the garlic mushrooms. The others too, simple mistakes on some of the simplest of dishes! Mains also sadly lacking overall but, strangely, the best of the 6 was a sirloin steak which is normally an easy one for a restaurant to muck up getting the “rare, medium, well done” bit right. We are seasoned diners, and definitely don’t take a snobby approach, who just want good food which has been lovingly prepared for us to enjoy. This all just felt very sloppy and you can’t run a restaurant like that. I wish them well for the future but don’t think they will be around long unless there is a considerable improvement.More

Guys you are lovely people and have a lovely restaurant, but you really need to have a sit down and re evaluate your operation. There were many people complaining on the evening we were there, your food is just okay, but as a lesson in...catering you should go to La piazza to see how a modern Italian restaurant is run. Having only half the menu and not even a bottle of champagne is not a good way to great diners Hope you take on board these commentsMore

We had a lovely meal here last week. We were a family group of 6 and were given a nice large table with plenty of space for our dog. Food and service both excellent. Nice relaxed casual restaurant. Would definitely visit again.

I have just read some disappointing reviews of this restaurant. I can’t believe they are talking about the same place as we visited last night. We were welcomed from the moment we stepped through the door. The waitress could not have been any nicer or...indeed any more helpful. Nothing at all was a bother. Drinks were ordered and brought quickly. Our meal orders were taken. Starters arrived and the quality and portion sizes were excellent. To be honest we were stuffed after those. I personally ordered the surf and turf main course. Again the quality was excellent. We often eat out and to be honest I’m a very fussy diner. I enjoy quality and without doubt this is what we received. I very rarely leave reviews but this restaurant deserves to be praised. In summary, an excellent cosy restaurant, excellent staff and exquisite quality cooked food. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be revisiting the area soon and will be returning to this restaurant. Thank you so much for making my night so enjoyable and memorable.More

A great little place with no thrills but excellent pizzas especially the calzone. A little chaotic but not annoyingly so. We ate here as a part of the Eat Out to Help Scheme and were pleasantly surprised by the cost which included drinks. Certainly worth...a visit if you like an excellent pizza dough!More
