A Pleasent Surprise

Having been told to avoid The Ship we thought it best to see for ourselves. Proper pub. Jukebox Pool table Screens everywhere for the sport. Although we didnt eat the meals coming out looked and smelled amazing.Checking the menu it also appeared great value. Lovely enclosed sun trap garden. Staff pleasant and attentive and the landlady to be fair is a bit of an eye catcher.

Best Ever Roast for Miles Around

Tried our usual locals in Havant and Emsworth but they were booked for Sunday Roast. Popped into the Ship Inn and they had a table available. We did not know at the time that it was a sports bar. Very noisy, but accepted it was what it was. we ordered Chicken wings as a starter and two roast beefs. Waited a while for the food to be served which did not bother us. However, when our roast beef was served, we asked what had happened to the chicken wings to share and were told they were on their way. We clearly ordered them as as a starter, not a main. The waitress dealt with it very well and once we had explained, she sorted out the refund. Having tried many Sunday Roasts around the area, I have to say this roast was the best ever. Very crispy roast potatoes and all cooked freshly. Good portions of beef and vegetables and good value for money. Would I go back ? YES for the food but too much football themed for us, especially with some of the customers who spoke so loudly about a football game that we could not hear ourselves talk, it was so boring, they blocked up the aisle/walkway and despite the staff asking several times for them to sit at a table, they ignored the staff. Lovely food but the customers this pubs attracts is not what we would want to experience again.

As a group of friends we drink a lot in emsworth, had high hopes for the ship as new decor is nice and previously met management who appeared engaged and friendly, but when they are not there it's not good, its a sports bar that has no idea when there is sports on and seems offended when you ask for sports to be put on, was told cant put world cup game on a particular tv as music was on that tv . It advertises opening hours but may or may not be open at that time, Even if open, kitchen may not be, we were excited to try nachos today but told no chef so couldnt have them, prices are on the top side for emsworth, which is fine as we dont mind paying, but if an 8.50 single bottle of prossecco is flat, no need to argue with us, please just replace it. Staff condescending and immature, such a shame.

Great welcome and amazing food

We have been here twice and on both occasions it met and exceeded expectations. The food is fresh, individually served with vegetable and meats sourced locally. Bought to your table quickly and at a great price, served with lots if ambiance. Why go anywhere else?

Amazing

We came to the ship for Sunday lunch after hearing lots of Great things and it did not disappoint. We had a lovely roast which was piping hot and could tell it was cooked fresh to order, the staff were helpful and check on on use multiple times to see if there was anything they could do. Will definitely be coming back to try more food, highly recommend visiting. Well done to the new staff who seem to be doing a great job running the pub.

Great atmosphere and very friendly place.

Visited today, lovely roast dinner with outstanding service. Staff very friendly and helpful. I have visited this venue on numerous occasions for different events and can honestly say it always has a very welcoming atmosphere and we have never had a disappointing time. The food is fantastic and I’m a very fussy eater, but that is not a problem as the landlady and landlord are very pleasant and go above and beyond to attend your needs. Toilets are kept very clean and pleasant. Nice little garden at the back with benches and tables. Also very dog friendly which is great. And you have to meet ‘Margaret’ their bulldog.she is a beauty.Keep up the good work!

While in Emsworth with extended family, we needed to find a place to meet for lunch. A few of us went in earlier and we saw that there wasn’t going to be any food served until 5. We decided to go in for a drink anyway and we were greeted by exceptionally polite staff. After approximately 5 minutes, we were informed that the chef would open the kitchen for us! Our various orders were dealt with efficiently and served to our tables with a smile. The sharing nachos are immense - I would recommend sharing with at least three other people. The staff were attentive at all times and were particularly welcoming to the two babies in our party. If we are ever in Emsworth again, we will definitely be back for more delicious food and excellent service.

Best roast great price

We was out for a walk and came across this quite looking pub, it was busy in the town due to the jubilee so this seemed quite compared to the other pubs. Can’t understand why it was so quite when the food and the prices where so good. We went for a large mixed roast and it was just like my Nan use to cook, not just two barely cooked veggies, we had peas carrots leeks cabbage sweed cauliflower yourkshire pud and roast pots with chicken lamb beef pork and nut roast covered in loads of gravy. All the meat just melted in your mouth. So lovely and only £12

Lovely afternoon

We came for dinner on Mother’s Day the food was delicious, lamb shank with fresh vegetables. Despite being really busy the service was great ,a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon/evening. Have also been to watch sport and eaten off the daily menu , great value and very tasty

Tried to watch the football

We went to watch the Football, we were told we couldn't have the volume up because they were playing music. They had "run out" of most of beers on tap, the staff were more interested in watching MTV than serving customers. It felt like a youth club with drunk aggressive teenagers. Will be avoiding from now on.

Superb All Round

Superb food, service and a really friendly atmosphere. I love The Ship and everything about it. If you’re looking for great reasonably priced food in a comfortable and welcoming environment, The Ship is definitely for you. There’s never a dull night at the pub and there are so many feature nights with quizzes , live music and sports events featuring on their multiple screens, you’ll always have a view of the broadcast game or event.

Great what a fantastic pub

Friendly warm great service, attention to detail, a great menu clean service, excellent point of sale, prices match the area. Beer well kept, glasses clean, Food delicious. Music nights are respectful, and at a decent volume. Quiz night on a Monday is out of this world ,booked table in advance and pub was packed To be fair a great pub quirky lively Catering to all age groups Well done the ship

Best pub around

The food is to die for and they will accommodate for everyone! The staff are always smiling, happy, friendly and ready to help out. They really can’t do enough for you whether you’re a regular or a new customer. I couldn’t reckoned this pub enough!!! It caters for everybody whether you want a quiet drink or go round to the other side and enjoy great live music or entertainment. They’ve definitely brought a bit of life back to Emsworth! And if you’re lucky enough you might even catch a glimpse of the pub mascot (Margs) Keep doing what you’re all doing😁💙

A locals pub?

Tried to get served BUT the staff were too interested in chatting to locals. Menus on tables ,both dirty, food prices well above local places. Walked out of th e dark dingy bar NOBODY bothered to speak to ask for our order,walked across the square to a pattiseiery! Which was fine.
