Hadn't been for a year. Our group had 6 different sushi rolls. All were very good to excellent with the power up as my favorite. Service was super. I was impressed by their covid protocols. Before seating, a forehead temperature check, and all the cooks and servers were wearing shields as well as masks. Nice night out.

When I'm craving good sushi, not the carryout variety, this is where I go. The food is fresh and full of flavor, promptly served by a waitstaff that's the friendliest around. If you're going in the evening I highly recommend making reservations or you may wait a bit for a table. They also do a robust carry out business.

Reservations (by phone) are a must. We ordered hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar) and fried smelts for appetizers. We shared a sushi deluxe and a sashimi supreme, and added nigiri sushi orders. The amaebi (sweet shrimp) was particularly good. We tried the Akai Hana roll that was wrapped in radish, which was unusual. The salmon skin roll was excellent - one of the few restaurants that still put burdock in it (so we ordered it again). Server was from Bali, excellent service (note the restaurant pools tips). We’ll be back.

Ellie, age 8: This place is so very awesome! It has a great cucumber roll, and I love the kids menu, and also the egg that comes with the noodles in the kids menu is great, it’s like a tiny rectangle.
This place is quite fancy! It has great lighting, goes with the fancy style of this place. Our whole family likes the menu, and I know that for sure.
The service is really always fast. I guarantee you that you’ll like something here!
We sometimes go to Belle’s bread next door for desert. It has strange but delicious deserts!
Anyway, Akai Hana is one of my favorite Asian restaurants!!!

Excellent Japanese restaurant.
We arrived an hour before closing. We were greeted warmly and our server was extremely kind and efficient.
We ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer to share it arrived quickly and was perfectly prepared.
We shared Korean bulgogi and oyako Don. Oh my. Both were excellent,
Portions were well sized and wonderfully prepared. We really enjoyed our meal.
We also ordered sushi to go. Our son loved it when we got home. Perfectly prepared and presented.
Already eagerly anticipating our return!

Beautiful Japanese restaurant serving sushi, noodles, and mains. Service is always friendly and efficient. Reserving a table is not strictly necessary but makes things easier. They also do takeout. They are located in a plaza of Japanese businesses so it's worth making a night of it.

I went for Tempura Udon soup. I used to have it regularly in Cleveland and Detroit before we moved here to Dublin, Ohio. The restaurant was comfortable and inviting, and the soup and the sushi rolls we ordered were awesome.

Celebrating my grandson’s birthday and this was his restaurant of choice. Several different dishes were ordered to share and all were awesome. All items are fresh and very flavorful.

I was told that this is the best Japanese restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. And after eating here twice, I would have say that its a pretty good Japanese restaurant. It does cater to many Japanese nationals who lives in Columbus and the food actually do taste more Japanese then most Japanese restaurants who more or less cater to Americans. I live in Anchorage, Alaska so this restaurant is definitely better then anything in my home town. But I go to Hawaii a lot and this restaurant fades to many great Japanese restaurants in Honolulu. Overall, I thought that the food was bit on the pricey side for what you were getting. I had sushi and udon combo. Sushi was pretty good and udon was okay, the broth was bit on the tame side....generic tasting. But overall, it was a good experience.

Excellent interior. Great staff. Sushi looks good but I’ve never tried it as I’ve been happy with my box lunch!
Great Place!

I've been to Akai Hana a few times and my experiences there have been nothing short of fantastic. The food is always fresh and I love that I can watch it being prepared. I've sat at the sushi bar, a table, and gotten food to go and every time I was served with a smile and given scrumptious food.

Very good Japanese cuisine here. It's a 40 mile drive from home, but it's where my wife likes to go on her birthday. She had the aged tofu appetizer and the sushi deluxe entree. The tofu was excellent and not something you find in every Japanese restaurant. The sushi was good though not better than what you may get in other places, and in fact there were some workmanship errors in the wrapping and production. I had the gyoza dumpling appetizers and the seafood champon noodle bowl. Both were very good. Overall I think Akai Hana really excels at the non-sushi dishes compared with other Japanese restaurants in town. There are some udon noodle bowls and Korean dishes I'd like to try. The service is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Expect to spend about $40 per person all in with drinks, tax, and tips.
