A random lunch date with the wife, I stumbled into Bakersfield while doing a search for cool lunch restaurants. The menu looked interested so that was enough to warrant a visit. First impression, nice sized restaurants with proper COVID setup and a nice bourbon selection. The menu is not huge but there is something for everyone. My wife and I recently stopped eating red meat so it was nice to see seafood and vegan options. The tacos are pretty small so the $4 price per taco makes sense but they are delicious! Wonder variety of flavorful options. We tried the fish, baja shrimp, chicken, and Portobello mushroom tacos. There is also this wonder corn dish that is a remix on Mexican street corn. This place gets a lot of foot traffic but a really good lunch location. If you are a big eater, maybe not the best place for dinner but quality food and service.

Fantastic establishment

My husband and I are from Indiana but decided to travel 2 1/2 hours to check out this place out if the blue. I tell you what..they do not disappoint! We love this place! First, everyone were very welcoming especially our waitress Leah. We loved her outgoing personality and she went over the menu with us and answered any questions we may have. First..the Cranberry Ginger margaritas...very tasty and refreshing and the Baja Shrimp & Fish tacos..delicious! If you are hungry and have a taste for great tacos and in the Columbus area..please check them out!

Met friends here before the ncaa final 4. Had the guac, queso, pineapple marg, and several different tacos. All were really great. Server was very accommodating to group member who is lactose intolerant.

This place is more about the drinks than the food. For $4.50 each you get extremely bland tacos on corn tortillas which to me equals extra bland. I had heard good things so now I can’t trust those people’s opinions about anything. If you want tacos go somewhere else. If you want alcohol with chips and salsa go to Bakersfield. The red salsa no one touched fyi.

I guess this establishment is more for drinking than eating. If you're looking for mass quantities of margaritas and screaming to converse with the person next to you, this might be your place. The next day, my ears are still ringing from the oppressively loud music. The food was like tapas. Somehow, they managed to find a cut of pork with no taste - but there was some strange flavor in the red sauce they put on the dish. Altogether unimpressed.

Decided to get tacos here after an outing. The place is clean and laid out well. I’ve been to a Bakersfield before, so I know it’s good stuff. It’s a simple menu, but everything there is done well. The food is delicious and tastes fresh. While I’ve never had the drinks (yet), they do appear very popular. Definitely would revisit again and enjoy a fish or pollo diablo taco once more. Also a great location to take in the street and people watch

Dolly salad is good, so are their chicken taquitos, guacamole too.

Not a lot of appealing places to eat at around here. At Bakersfield for tacos and some over priced Mexican street tacos. We have one in Detroit at home. Ordered chips and guacamole, chips and Roja salsa, chicken taquitos, pollo rojo, fish taco, pollo verde, hongos, black bean and a small dolly salad, less croutons. $53.77 The guacamole and rojo salsas are good. The chips are light and crispy, but easily break. The tacos were all okay, two bits of nothing special. All a bit more flavorful with salsas and guacamole added to them. The taquitos are made with blue corn tortillas, white shredded chicken, not too bad. The black beans aren’t bad. The small Dolly salad was food, nice vinaigrette. Dolly salad, chips and guacamole and Roja are good, tacos are so-so, taquitos are good as well.

We stayed for a quick sack at Bakersfield and were not disappointed: warm, homemade chips (taco chips) with various sauces (salsa trio) and a selection of various small tacos. Great! The in-house lemonades were a perfect match. When we wanted to pack the remaining salsas, we added a bag of fresh chips. Thank you!

Disappointing Happy Hour

Went here with friends for drinks and appetizers and was disappointed. The only special they had was their house margarita which was half price. No complimentary chips and salsa, even with the purchase of other food items. Service was great and prices were reasonable. Didn't stay for dinner but the menu looked sparse. Decent gluten free and vegetarian options. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Awesome tacos!

We were exploring the short nort and decided to try this place out. I ordered a fish taco and a shrimp taco. They were amazing! I also got a side of black beans which was great. The rest of the group had enchiladas and a salad. They really liked their food as well. Our server was friendly and the service was quick. Everyone had masks on a were very good about following Ohio’s Covid guidelines. We will be back the next time we come to town!

Not the best customer service

So don’t bother to ask how their margaritas are or ideas from the staff… they look less than happy to give you their opinion… guacamole was decent and the shots were good… but then again, how do you mess up on shots! Hopefully they were just having a bad day.

So glad to see them back open! I love both the food and the decor of this restaurant. The tacos are priced so that you can sample a variety of them. My favorites are the Short Rib and Carnitas tacos and my wife really likes the Fish taco. Another favorite is the Carnitas Taquitos. The atmosphere is rustic, with lamps lit by Edison Bulbs, and a Western feel. The televisions will have “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” or early Clint Eastwood movies whenever there is not a sporting event of interest to its patrons. Suggest making reservations during the weekends because the Short North is opening back up!

Overpriced, tiny portions

Food tasted very good, but the prices and portions are unacceptable. Prices are $4 for a tiny taco which is more of an appetizer or sampler. You can spend $25 and leave feeling hungry. We won’t be back. Guacamole was really good though.
