Well the menu has changed since we last visited several years ago, but the curries are still first rate! Now with a greater emphasis on their kebab trade, the friendly Fijian Indian owners offered us goat or lamb curries on the day we visited- glad...there was no other choice as these curries were both first rate - obviously slow cooked on the bone in their spices, and the light roti perfectly complimented the dishes. Thanks for a great meal!More
Nothing swish but one can get a good feed for under $20. Your meal comes complete eith saffron rice and the serves are quite generous. It is not the best zindian but certainly not the worst. BYO is another bonus.
The night we visited, Sunday,...the place had only four other customers but we waited for forty minutes for our meals.
They also do quite a good trade with takeaways.More
This little place on McDowaal St is a great find! We enjoyed the delicious Indian food that was freshly prepared for us. The menu is extensive. Very reasonable prices and friendly polite service. It’s BYO.
Our food was worth waiting for. Both the veggie curry and lamb curry were really flavorful. I asked for very hot and that is the way it came. The restaurant isn’t much to look at but the flavors make up for that.
Felt like something different to pub meals or pizza and came across this amazing restaurant. Best Indian cuisine we have had in a while and found the staff so friendly and accommodating. The naan was SO fresh and the meat was so tender. Highly recommended...!More
I’m a local. My visit occurred today, March 7th.
The prices for lunch specials seemed fair, if they were actually open during their operating hours. The doors were locked at 11:30 am. I called the business number with no answer. A mobile number called me...back and here is the following conversation:
Unknown male: “Hello. I received a missed call from you.”
Me: “Is this the Indian restaurant?”
Background noise ensued.
Unknown male: “I have to call you back! I have to call you back!”
I can’t comment on the food as I didn’t have an opportunity to try it.
Also note, the unidentified caller hasn’t called back.More
When traveling it is always hard to choose an eating place, We were so glad we chose Taj Indian Kitchen, from the outside we were unsure if it really did serve Indian food, but we spied what other customers were being served and knew we...were in the right place, we had Vegetable Samosas, Chicken Korma, Rice and Naan, all were beautifully served, I would definitely eat here again, and recommend it to anyone wishing for an Indian meal, we did choose mild just to be on the safe side. Thank you Taj Indian Kitchen.More
