We waited about 25 minutes to get a table here on a Saturday night, which we didn't mind since we didn't have a reservation and they were very busy that night. Once we were seated the staff were very friendly and attentive. The drinks were tasty and the food was great! As much as we love our classic fish and chips from Bonavista, this place was a nice way to break up our routine while on staycation. My husband still had the fish and chips but was pleasantly surprised to taste garlic in the batter which was an interesting twist! The nachos were also some of the best I've had, we will definitely be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the pub. The River mint Mojito is outstanding! The crab dip was also great. Would definitely revisit ~ the service (Natalie) and atmosphere were great. The pub was busy while we were there on a Tuesday evening, nice to see people supporting the new Gastropub.

If you haven’t been to Ragged Rocks you have to go! By far, it’s my family’s favourite restaurant in Bonavista. The atmosphere is always very welcoming and comfortable, whether it’s a night out with friends or a family meal. The staff there are AMAZING, very knowledgeable and super friendly. The food and drinks are unmatched, from their appetizers to their desserts. They always use fresh local ingredients which make their menu hard to choose from, cause you really will want it all lol. Every time is an amazing visit with the best reasonably priced food around, which is why I always recommended this place. You won’t be disappointed!

We dined at this pub on a Thrusday evening, the place is new and clean, open concept, not a place to cozy up for a date but great for girls night maybe, they have tons of fancy drinks but would cost you quite a bit to get a buzz on, I had a blueberry cocktail that they created, it was awesome but it was $14 lol 😂 having a few drinks can get pricy. We ordered fish n chips, crab dip and chippers, nachos, burgers and kids chicken fingers. The highlight was the fish, I’m comparing it to some of my other favourite places to have cod such as the gypsy tea room and the fish exchange in St.John’s and honestly it was probably a bit better, the fish was super fresh flaky and the thin crisp batter was perfectly salted and not greasy. The portion was oversized which is always better than too little! Also their homemade tarter sauce and coleslaw was excellent!
Sadly I was really disappointed in their nachos, :(
They claimed to make their own chips and they were fully loaded so yeaaaa bring me some nachos! I added chicken as well, the portion was huge however it arrived looking like a plate of cheese you melted in the microwave, lol 😂 they had put topping on and coated it in cheese and a splashes of bbq sauce and melted it, never thought I would say this but it was wayyy to much cheese, it was a greasy mess and not much flavour. They really need to lay their cheese down first and then toppings and broil for a few mins, that would definitely improve their nachos. The crab dip was disappointing as well, we couldn’t taste any crab 🦀 :( the only tastes that came through were ketchup and mayo. The chippers that came with it were overcooked as well. So they were both disappointing. But would definitely go back for the fish anytime!

We went on a Sunday evening after 6:00 p.m.. The wait staff is wonderful. We didn't know what chippers were so she brought us a sample to try. They are thinly sliced potatoes that are deep fried - like chips in a bag - but homemade. I would recommend the full rack of ribs. Ask for a second plate and share with a friend. The portion is huge. A friend and I had the cod. It was good. Another friend ordered the salmon with basmati rice and it was served with carrots. It was nice. It was very loud and difficult to hear the server as well as each other. As has been mentioned, the drinks are way overpriced but they depend on tourists paying the extra.

Myself and three friends are here for supper. The restaurant itself is lovely and has a nice atmosphere. Myself and one friend both ordered the moose burger and found it was really lacking any flavour whatsoever. I don't think any seasonings were used with the meat which was unfortunate because the burger really had potential. The other two with our party split the Seafood platter. They did enjoy the crab legs and shrimp but the scallops were deep fried, which we all thought was really strange. I don't believe it was advertised on the menu as being deep fried. All in all we were a bit disappointed with the food so I can't completely recommend this place.

So glad this place is open despite all the covid challenges. Well spaced with disposable menus and Hugh attention to cleanliness.
I really want to come back post covid when the place is buzzy and full - it’s very cosy chic.
We had, in our group, crab dip (delicious), fish and chips (crispy and fresh), cheeseburgers (I don’t think I’ve ever seen a burger devoured faster) and kid menu chicken strips (one happy little girl). The rock chips are homemade potato chips made using salt from the Newfoundland Salt Company, and are delicious too!
We had delicious strawberry rhubarb mojitos, too.

We went because there was live music playing and had dinner. It had great atmosphere and the service was excellent. Our appetizer was a house salad(good). My husband had the ‘Seas the day’ chowder and I ordered a beef ragged rocks nachos( this thing was huge and we both ate leftovers for lunch the next day).

Myself and my family look forward every summer for this place to open. 😊. As a local I enjoy our traditional fast food throughout the winter months. However, as the summer comes upon us I crave a little something different, and Ragged Rocks certainly satisfies this. The drink variety at the bar caters to everyone’s tastes. The strawberry rhubarb mojito is to DIE for, such an amazing refreshing drink, along with many more . The food is fresh and decent size portions for your money. From seafood to nachos , to bar munchies...it’s all there, even a kids menu . Absolutely love the RR burger and rock chips . 😋 All patrons are professional, kind, efficient and portray a genuine personality! The atmosphere is clean and chic and you’ll most definitely feel valued and at home. Weather your in the mood for just a refreshing drink or a relaxing meal, this is the place to go ,,😊

We visited here on a busy and warm, Saturday evening. Because the Pub was busy, we had a 20 minute wait to get a table, but although the place was busy, the tables were well spaced and it didn’t feel crowded.
Both my husband and I ordered fish and chips. There was, again, a bit of a wait but well worth it. The fish was excellent, very fresh and hot with a thin crispy batter and served with fries and homemade coleslaw. It was delicious and we enjoyed every mouthful.
Although we both felt full, hubby and I decided to share a piece of chocolate carrot cake. Good thing we decided to share, because the piece was very big, plenty for two people, and a tasty end to our meal.
Good job, Ragged Rock.

We went to this establishment when passing through due to the positive reviews. We saw some of the bad but figured they were just one offs. After going through some of the reviews bow on Google I can tell the owner or whoever responding to them does not like criticism at all...wow, immature
Anyway, we went and they were busy, but we opted to wait for a table. It wasn't long and we got the call that a table was free. There were 4 of us and 2 had fish and chips, 1 had chicken masala and I had a burger of some sort. I'll start off by saying the chicken masala was great and a nice portion size. The fish and chips, nice portion size but the fish was tasteless. I figured it was maybe because it was cod and bland, but we went to Ches's fish and chips in St John's and it's cod and we all found it the best fish anywhere, so that wasn't the issue here. The batter was crispy on the outside but gooey on the inside. Now my RR burger, for $22 the portion size was embarrassing. Yes, owner if you're reading, I know I saw the price before I purchased but what I didn't know was the portion size of what I was getting for $22. This was at best a $12 or $15 meal. I've been around and your place isn't the first place I've been to in my life and ordered a burger platter, you need to add a patty or beef up the fries for that price. I also see less than 2 years ago it was $16, which might of been worth it.

After hearing great reviews about Ragged Rocks we decided to give it a go. As a family I can say there is something on the menu for all of us. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and very welcoming and the food and desserts were delicious. You can tell everything is fresh and not just regular frozen food thrown into a fryer. We were also very impressed with the selection of Gluten Free options (which are often so hard to find). We were so impressed that we have made plans with friends to return for an adult night out. I can see that this would be the spot to be in the summer and look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend when your in or around Bonavista.

I don’t even know if everyone who wrote these reviews went to the same place.
The crab dip felt like it was made by someone who never had a crab dip before. It was a cold, homogeneous purée which could have had crab in it or also may not have. It was thankfully on special, but to our dismay we found out why… as the chips had obviously gone stale and needed to be disposed of. Not at a discount, but in the garbage.
Glasses were dirty. My wife’s had lipstick stains all over it.
Other food items were frozen. Fries 100% for sure, but also I think the wings and the dessert came from the freezer as well.
That’s fine to do if the food isn’t priced at a premium, but it is.
Maybe I just had bad menu items and got unlucky.
Server was a young kid, he was friendly enough. Not his fault. The ribs/wings combo and the crab dip need a full makeover. It’s not up to par with the price.
Also, make sure glassware is spotless. It can really ruin an experience if not.
Maybe just an off night but it was a rough experience and we won’t be back.

Family of 4 adults visited for supper. Toutons (2) were very good, nachos great, bbq ribs very very good! Coleslaw not great and fries undercooked and greasy. Black forest cake excellent! Our server, Ken was a very professional, gracious host! He made us feel welcome and no request was too much trouble. We will visit again!

I am a seafood lover and are always on the quest for fresh seafood. Stopped into Ragged Rocks last week and was so pleasantly surprised to be there for their Lobster Fest. I ordered the Lobster Roll and the Lobster Tail Caesar. Both were a 10/10
Other people in our party ordered the fish and chips and loved every bite.
Well done Ragged Rocks. You never disappoint.
