It was okay. Everyone locally REALLY hyped the place up... almost to a dizzying height. The actual experience was decent but not what I was expecting. Ambiance is great! That is the main redeeming factor. Service was also wonderful. Attentive, timely, happy. No complaints there....The food was the only real dull hue on an otherwise bright night out. Steaks were mediocre and basically unseasoned. My strip had large portions of it that were fat that had not been rendered down at all. Appetizers were okay. Nothing to write home about and certainly not worthy of the astronomical accolades heaped on by seasoned locals. Overall, fine place to go and sit and have a meal. But don't confuse local exuberance for actual food creativity and delivery.More

We came here for my niece's graduation with a bunch of her friends. We had the Fried Cheesy Pickles which was very good. Some people had the Elk burger which they liked. Another had the steak which was good. One person had the blacken chicken...with pasta but it was very spicy. He liked some spicy food but this one was too spicy for him. I had the pasta special which was very spicy for me so they brought me another pasta special which wasn't spicy. I really liked it but it had a lot of oil in it but it tasted good. People enjoyed their meals as long as they didn't order the spicy ones.More

My wife and I chose The Toasted Frog for our birthday supper this year. Great choice! Quickly greeted and seated at opening time on a Saturday afternoon. Our server, Louie, brought game. He was very helpful but didn’t hoover. We greatly appreciated his suggestions and...recommendations. We don’t come here and not order the Cheesy Fried Pickles. So Good! My wife loved her Whiskey Sour. She kept raving about it. I felt guilty when she offered for me to taste it. Wow! Great drink! We both went with steaks and they both came out as ordered. Tasty! Dessert was a slice of cake with a chocolate Guinness base and a Bailey’s Irish Cream ice cream top, with caramel poured over the ice cream. Wowzers! Another great meal at The Toasted Frog! Happy Birthday to Us! Sláinte!More

I've actually been a fan, and repeat customer, of the Toasted Frog, both the Fargo and Grand Forks locations. I travel to ND often for business and have always included it as a great dining spot while traveling. I was recently in Grand Forks in...December, 2022 and again in January, 2023 and stopped in for dinner. The waitstaff was very pleasant as always; but, I can't say the same for the quality of the food. On my last visit, I ordered the fish tacos at $20.00. What a disappointment. A half-dollar size portion of each of the following: sour cream slaw, avocado, mango salsa, tomato salsa, and green onions. The grilled Mahi-Mahi was served as dried out slab of fish smaller than a deck of playing cards. The entree was served with four flour tortillas. To be candid, it was challenging to try to allocate the sparse ingredients to fill four tacos. I understand that input and labor prices have risen and restaurants are trying not to raise prices; but, this meal bordered on the ridiculous and had nothing on Taco Bell. I'm hoping this experience was an anomaly. But, if your hungry, I would have to advise against the fish tacos.More

Unique menu. The server was very professional and friendly. I had the chicken pasta dinner special and it was perfect! There were 7 others in our group and everyone was very happy with their meal.

Four of us waited for about an hour and 20 minutes to get our meal. The waitress offered no apology. When the food arrived, mine was lukewarm and the pork was half done. She said she would take it back and get me a new...one, again with no apology. I asked to speak to the manager. He came up and said that that was the way they cook their pork - that they don't fully cook it! He offered no apology, nor to rectify the bill, which should have been taken care of. After a lengthy wait, and while everyone was finishing up their dinner I flagged the waitress. She said my meal should be coming up right away and I ask for it to be boxed up, and to please remove the charges on my bill. The service was comparable to the last time I was there about four years ago. I will not be visiting this establishment again.More

Who doesn’t enjoy the smell of the wood burning oven when you enter the place? Quickly greeted! Quickly seated! Service was great! Our meals were completely satisfying! It is always a pleasure to be at the Toasted Frog, and something we always look forward to...doing. We ordered three menu items, the Buffalo Wings (Oh yeah!), the Chicken Pesto Melt (My wife orders this the most.), and the Chipotle Pork Melt (You had me at Chipotle!). These are three excellent reasons out of hundreds that we appreciate this local restaurant! Merci Beaucoup!More

It was a busy weekend night so we expected a wait. However we didn't expect to wait almost as long to get our food, so that was disappointing. Service was on the slow side. Yet the atmosphere was lively which made the wait for our...dinners at least entertaining. My husband and I both ordered filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. We would recommend this establishment to others and would return.More

Passing through Grand Forks and found this place for dinner. This was a Friday night and the joint was packed. However, our estimated wait time of 45 minutes only turned out to about 25. Menu is very interesting, drinks were spot on and our server,...Angie, was very personable, pleasant and efficient. It was possibly the best meal of a 12 day trip. We also noted that the regulars were greeted with enthusiasm and even hugs. We can recommend it.More

The Toasted Frog was packed with lively customers. We were quickly greeted and we were seated at one of the last two open tables in the place. It was a bit loud with people talking and laughing, but it was music to my ears to...hear and see things back to normal. Service was spot on great! Food was very tasty, as this is the norm here! We are always happy to be here, and we always leave satisfied. The mark of excellence! Oh yes... we certainly did start off our evening by ordering the Fried Cheesy Pickles! We also ordered the Chicken Pesto Melt and the Bianca Wood-Fired Pizza... Bravissimo!! Merci Beaucoup! (Mob. June 28th 2021)More

The exterior surrounding the restaurant is currently under construction, so it took us a minute to find the entrance. There aren’t signs to help find the front door. The hostess asked if we had reservations, which we didn’t, and then helped find us a table...even though we hadn’t called ahead. She was very helpful. I would suggest you make reservations. Prices were fair to somewhat overpriced- examples $15 elk burger, $24 walleye (local fish) and Alaskan Char was almost $30 (which we are from Alaska and Char wouldn’t be our pick of Alaskan fish to eat and for $30). I got the fish tacos and they were delicious, but they came out where I had to assemble them. If I come to a restaurant, I don’t want to assemble anything… much less portion out a piece of fish into three tacos. I can go home and do that. My husband is a burger snob and liked the burger. For him to tell me he would go back means it was good- he had the elk burger. The alcohol selection had a good local and surrounding microbrew menu, along with a full bar. The waiter said the bartenders could make us whatever we wanted even though we chose local brews. The menu did have a wide selection of martinis all priced $6, which was reasonably priced. Food service was slower, but they were very busy, so I wouldn’t go before a movie unless you had ample time prior. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, once he got to our table. Lessons learned: The restaurant is 21 yes and up, not family friendly. Get a babysitter. Make reservations. Go with plenty of time and not in a rush. Would go again.More

Small dining room with moderate speed in service. Good food and ok service. The fried pickles were a joke upon the multiple reviews but when we tried it, it was actually on point! Loved it. So expensive though.
