We were in the Waynesville area for three days relaxing and visiting our son who is in school nearby. We were looking for a dinner spot where we could get some seafood and came across Maggie's. The reviews were spot on. It is not the...most aesthetic looking place, but we had a wonderful experience. We had the Seafood chowder as appetizer and then had blackened trout, blackened catfish and a seafood combo. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The pricing was also very good compared to other restaurants we had been to. Also, it was my wife's birthday weekend. We were not looking for anything but in conversation with the waitress it come up. After our meal she offered us a free desert, but we were just too full and declined. When we received our check, the waitress had taken my wife's glass of wine off since we didn't want desert. All this was great, but the best part of the experience was our waitress, Grace. She was terrific. She helped guide our selections, was attentive, funny and just a real pleasure to deal with. Even if the meal had been mediocre, she would have made this a nice outing.More

Service was great with Paige being our server. Salad was very good. Raw oysters were ok. The rib eye and the 6 oz bacon wrapped filet were above average. I did not care for the chowder but the gumbo was very good. We will go...again but make better choices. This is obviously a favorite of locals with almost every table full at 7:00.More

We ate lunch at Maggie's with friends while traveling through the area. This was a surprisingly good restaurant. While my wife's shrimp po-boy was satisfactory (not great in her opinion) my High Country Shrimp over Blackened Grit Cakes was quite good. It was a bit...different than expected as it had one grit cake that was blackened rather than your usual porridge-type grits and it was in in a chowder-like soup. There was lots of shrimp and even more lobster claw meat and it was wonderful! When you arrive at Maggie's Galley you find a run-down strip shop surrounded by light industrial garages and other things. Inside, the restaurant is charming with lots of natural wood siding, well-spaced tables, and pleasant wall decorations. In addition, the service was wonderful. Our server was attentive without being overly so and we were well taken care of. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area,More

Just he other night, my wife and I had dinner here. We had the ribeye, mixed beans, salads and onion soup. All of it was very tasty and properly prepared. The restaurant was very clean and enjoyable to dine. Probably the best part was our...waitress Grace! She’s the daughter of the owners and she was spot on the service with a sweet personality. We absolutely would dine here again.More

This is an awesome and reasonable restaurant. Big menu. Our group loved the creamy seafood bisque. My blackened fish and shrimp was great. Sweet potato casserole I saved for dessert and it was wonderful. Great homemade salad dressings. Coconut shrimp was a hit too. We...all loved our orders. Traditional seafood dishes. Yummy and reasonable.More

I found this on Tripadvisor and 3 of the 4 of us wanted seafood. Our 1 friend had the grouper sandwich and said it was wonderful. Her husband had the chef salad and it was so huge he couldn't eat it all. He said it...was excellent but huge! My wife had a combo platter with shrimp and oysters and really enjoyed it. They had a special that night with the fried clam strips and the serving was huge. Very good. They have a very large menu and we would definitely go back when we travel that area. To top it off, we were both celebrating our anniversaries and they gave us each a free dessert. Very nice people and very enjoyable experience!More

Great and friendly staff. The service was impeccable. There might be a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. The seafood was hot and fresh and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely must try if you like seafood.

My wife and I were looking for another seafood place in our area of WNC. I did a search of what was available near Waynesville and found this place. Not much from the outside but very warm and inviting inside. Friendly hostess and wait staff....We started with cocktails and mushrooms. I asked for horseradish to liven up the ranch dip which the waitress happily indicated they had. After having a very nice wedge salad, we got the small plates of blackened catfish and coconut shrimp. They were still good sized portions and the chowder was also very good. Everything was tasty and fresh. Planning to go back again soon.More

Arrived at Maggie's Galley for a late lunch a few minutes after 3:30pm on a Monday afternoon. Although there were more table empty than occupied had to wait a bit over 5 minutes to be seated. After seated I was given the Dinner Menu. When...I inquired to the server she said that they had stopped the Lunch Menu a few minutes earlier. I feel that the hostess could have mentioned this upon arrival since it was at the time for menu change. The server served me a soda and when I asked her to replace it because it was flat and void of carbonation she did so promptly and then disappeared for a long while. Actually other tables were seated and orders taken before she returned. I did finally get to order shrimp scampi and twice baked potato as a side. When the food arrived it initially looked good. Disappointment soon set in as the it was as bland as one could imagine. Although the pasta was tender it was swimming in way to watered down butter, the shrimp was lacking any color with the exception of a few green sprinkles and void of flavor in both which could not be rectified with table salt & pepper. The twice baked potato was hard on the outside and dried out on the inside. Although the hush puppies were the star and the most flavorful of these 3 items they were still dark in colored and too hard on the outside. I did tell my waitress that issues I had with the uneaten food and she said "ok". This meal was not good nor eaten so it was a big waste of my money and time. Time stamp on receipt 4:00pm.More

My wife and I thought we found our Sunday brunch go to restaurant . 2 Sundays ago… We had an amazing 5 star brunch. This week was another story. From hero to zero! The owner was on vacation and I’m feeling that had a lot...to do with it. Granted the food was good, but the hospitality SUCKED! One minor request turned into just one of the poorest restaurant experience my wife and I have ever had. Something as simple as “please, we don’t want the English muffin with the crab cake Benedict, would the cook please plate the crab cake on top of the hash brown casserole instead? The server was great, but she checked with the kitchen and they said NO! I said what? You’ve got to be kidding, right? She said no she wasn’t. I’ve just retired from the hospitality industry and have been GM’s of restaurants as well as a food and beverage director at a resort and was just dumbfounded by the blatant disregard of the term hospitality. I asked for the manager and she flippantly said we’re lucky to have that chef, he’s been with us for 30 years. How sad customer service is not a priority. Even though the food is good, what we thought was going to be our every Sunday brunch venue, this experience kills that. I cannot agree that a cook (I WILL NOT call him chef) will not accommodate a simple plating request. A real Chef will do whatever it takes to make their guests feel appreciated and special when ever they can. I know because I am a Chef and have worked with many amazing Chefs. So sad.More

Told to waitress and she said she...would tell the manger, the started feeling sick at my stomach. Ask the waitress if the manger was coming by and she said no, I then said you could make people sick from rotten food she’s say you can’t get food poisoning from salads. So as we’re leaving spoke to the manger and she was like oh well sorry. Poor service, be going to the restaurant since 1999 Never again.More
