After hearing how great this place was, friends and I had lunch there on a day trip to Franklin. My fish sandwich was overcooked and dry, as was one other one at the table. The gyro was average, and our fourth friends sandwich was forgettable....Not one of us could eat the 'chips' that came with the sandwiches - they were like eating cardboard. They could have been made three days ago, as they came out flavorless, dry, chewy, some burnt and not hot. For the money, there are actually better places to eat in Franklin. You need decent food to go with the pretentious staff in white shirts and black pants. Won't go back.More

After reading the reviews I was immensely disappointed with our experience . Service was quick and pleasant but I'm afraid that's all I can say positive. I'm over 70 with a bad back and found the seating extremely uncomfortable , my wife however did not....The food was a great disappointment, both hers and mine. I had the crab cake with extra crab ( a food I dearly love) with the side if house potatoe chips. The crab meat was very normal but was under cooked with chips that were greasy . my wife ordered a Gyro that was made processed lamb and beef patty which she found average . However, at the price ( $30+) the meal was a disappointment . Perhaps I'm just not a French food lover but think I'd fine better with lunch at the adjoining gas stations prepackaged menu or one if their hot off the grill weiners. LOL.More

We had a party of 4 for dinner. Seating was available at 5;30 during the week. No wait. Rather gross used paper menus greeted us and that was not a good way to start the evening. All the food was good to excellent but the...French Pot Roast dinner was average. Refills were not offered for the soft drink or even the water but they were offered for the iced tea. Not sure what happened there. Dessert was not offered either so we took one home at the counter when we paid. The Italian cake was OK but nothing to rave about. Just a reminder to others that no credit cards are accepted. We brought cash for a quick transaction.More

My wife and I both ordered the grouper special and topped it off with the Chocolate Turtle cake. Awesome meal and great service. They don’t take reservations but worth the wait!

This is a unique restaurant as they have great food in the same complex as a gas station right in downtown Franklin. We had the Trout dinner entree and the Crawfish Tails in a bowtie pasta with an amazing creme sauce. We paired it with...a French chardonay. The french bread to start with was fresh. We had no room for dessert. The location is unique because it is in a gas station but you can't tell if you are seated inside. There is one table outside which we sat at because we have a dog. So thankful they let our well mannered pooch sit by our table. Good service. They don't take credit cards.More

Had a wonderful family dinner tonight! Our waitress Kissa was fabulous with her suggestions and very attentive. The food was so good!! Presentation was top notch. The Chef, Nate, came out to our table to check to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. He’s...young and I have no doubt he has a great future ahead of him!More

Today, my wife & I enjoyed a leisurely ride to Caffe Rel and enjoyed a delicious lunch. We shared a double-stack pastrami on rye, with a side of fried calamari. Russel, our waiter, was friendly & attentive, as was the rest of the crew. We...try to visit Caffe Rel a few times a year, especially because the backroads to Franklin from Hendersonville are motorcycle friendly (twisty & zero traffic).More

Based on a recommendation, we make our way to the restaurant for lunch. We were lucky to be seated almost immediately. Not so lucky to be right next to the kitchen entrance. Loud. Server took almost 10 minutes to take our request for iced teas....Another 10 minutes to take our orders - pot roast and pan seared scallops - almost 45 minutes to get our food, which was not very hot in temperature or taste. Way to salty sauces, overcooked bow tie pasta, and the side of veggies was so visually poor that we passed on tasting. Glad to eat and run and will never return for the "experience".More

Went in to a great decor and ambience, thinking the dining would be as good. Ordered a caesar salad and calamari appetizer, with a glass of pinot noir, not wanting a big meal this night. Asked for water with no ice. Got ice. The pinot...was almost just grape juice, so I sent it back for a malbec. The bread was unbelievably non-French, like the real cheap French bread from the grocery store. Got the cheapest malbec they could find. The caesar came, it was slathered over with the cheapest sauce they could find in the grocery store, and the croutons were all stale. The calamari came very quickly, that should have been a warning. I am sure it was fried long ago and warmed up just for me. I ate whatever I could stand and got out of there as soon as possible. Franklin has a surprising number of good restaurants for a town its size. Don't go to this one.More

No they are still closed. I was advised that due to their small space and social distancing they could only seat a very small amount of people so it would not beat feasible for them to open.

Yes, they do accept take-out orders. However, when they are very busy during peak-hours on Friday and Saturday night the will often not accept take-out orders over the phone. But we only live 5 minutes away, so will... More
