We stopped here for lunch and were so glad we did! The empanadas were great: I expected the chicken empanada to be my favorite, but the veggie one with Yukon Gold potatoes, lima beans, sweet corn and sharp cheddar was sublime. The picky eater in...our group loved the empanadas and the fish and chips appetizer. The side dishes of jicama kale slaw and hominy "mac and cheese" are generous portions and are definitely sharable. Be sure to try the Ecuadorian horchata: this version is not a milky drink but rather an iced herbal tea.More

We were disappointed with our experience at Luna's recently. We ordered empanadas and sides and the empanadas were mostly empty, an empty pocket of dough. The reasonably sized sides were good but we were very rushed and felt like we were pushed to leave the...minute our plates were clear. Overall it felt overpriced and we left feeling unsatisfied.More

So glad we found this place on our last night visiting recently. Amazing food - truly, I wish we'd come even MORE hungry than we were. Great staff. Lovely outdoor setting (not sure if indoor option was available - was too beautiful of a night...to pass up being outside). Highly recommend a visit!More

Stopped in here in July before leaving town, and they have a really nice outdoor dining area set up. Tables are well-distanced, on the side of the restaurant, and staff all wear masks coming in and out of the restaurant to your tables. Ordering was...done in person via staff that came to your tables, typical restaurant experience, rather than the self-ordering that has become typical at a lot of bars. The patacon sandwiches are incredible - you just can't top them. Brisket in the plantain disks, with jicama slaw, jack cheese, and chili-lime mayo. Incredible. I opted for the spicy bacon collards this time at the server's suggestion and they blew me away. So flavorful! Drinks are always unique and fun as well, with lots of mixed drinks to choose from. This is a great spot for a safe dinner in Durham.More

On a recent trip to Durham, NC we were given a gift card for Luna's Rotisserie and Empanadas. I am a foodie and I would say adventurous, but I was not to sure about going when I looked at their menu online. Well, I am...glad I did- it was OUTSTANDING! Luna's is right in the heart of downtown Durham. The decor inside it urban chic with just a hit of South American flare. Our visit was during COVID, so they had outside and limited indoor seating. We were really happy to get a nice cozy booth inside. We felt very welcomed from the moment we walked in the door, which was very nice. Once we were seated our server arrived at the table to help guide us through our meal. Since we had no idea what to choose, we went with all of his suggestions. We started off with the Camote Chimichurri (Chipotle Roast Sweet Potatoes, Black Beans, Avocado, Sweet Corn, Chimichurri) and the Palomitas (Popcorn, Herbs, Spices, Lime Zest). They both were very good, but my favorite was the Camote Chimichurri, it was so delicious!! For our main course, I was really feeling comfortable and loving all of our server's suggestions. So I had the Patacon Pisao with the brisket. Now you might be like me and have no idea what a Patacon Pisac is, well it is: Meat, Jack Cheese, Jicama Kale Slaw, and Chili-Lime Mayo, Sandwiched Between Two Large Plantain Discs. I know it sounds totally crazy if you are not familiar with this type of cuisine. It was absolutely scrumptious! Jenni was not so adventurous, she had the 2 empanadas. One was Blackened Pulled Chicken, Yukon Gold, Roasted Peppers and the other was Pork Carnitas, Caramelized Onions, Hominy, Collards. She really enjoyed her meal too. We both were really full, but could not pass up the offer of dessert. I had the passionfruit tart and Jenni had the smores empanada. Our entire dining experience was a 10 out of 10! It is hard to think that I had doubts of trying this amazing place. I would be a regular if we lived in Durham. You must go and dine at Luna's Rotisserie and Empanadas- you will love it!!More

I had blackened pull delicious and it was fantastic. The collard greens were also very good. I tried the Hominy “Mac” and cheese and they were okay but a little dry for my taste. The service was great and the people were nice. I recommend...this restaurant.More

A small restaurant in Durham with Peruvian and South American dishes that had unexpected flavors and were generally delightful. I dont know if it was the spices used or the other preparations that tasted so good. Not a lot of food per dish but also...not too expensive. Nice place for a change of paceMore

The roasted chicken was on point, fried plantains with cinnamon creme fresh a delicious side. Empanadas were perfect. Casual, with excellent beer list and service. We had a quick meal before a game on a friend’s recommendation and this place did not disappoint!

Ate here Saturday night before a show at the Carolina Theater. Had the Potato and Corn Empenada with the Yuca Fries and the Black Beans & Coconut Rice. Filling and delicious! Get there early, though, because it's not that big a place and by 6:00...there was a decent wait.More
