We love french cuisine and they delivered high quality food, with friendly personable service. Durham has lots of good places to eat, but you don't want to miss this. Kudos to management staff and ownership.

Decided to try Rue Cler to support them for caring about people’s health and requiring vaccines. We drove from Raleigh and we’re very glad we did. Everything was top notch. Excellent service, friendly staff, fabulous food, large wine list, excellent vibe. The crusty French baguette...was fresh and warm with yummy butter alongside. I had the Poulet Roti, and it was very good. My husband had the Coq au Vin, and it was to die for. We’ll definitely go back again. BTW, I noticed at least one negative review that seemed completely unrepresentative of our experience. I fear some anti-vaxxers may be writing false bad reviews to harm the restaurant that’s doing the right thing. Don’t be fooled.More

Are you kidding me? They have an attitude here that is not even deserving of their food , service or atmosphere. I grew up in France. This is not French food. This is an overrated restaurant. They have nothing remotely close to being like rue...cler. Paris or even French. They don’t even speak French. It’s food. And the service and attitude is just not worth the trouble to visit with them. It’s a small place. They don’t care if you are comfortable with your seat and they act like you owe them something by just coming there. After 4-5 visits I will spend my money elsewhere. I’m out.More

Rue Cler is consistently excellent. My favorite is the Moules Frites. The roasted beets is great. Service is very good and parking across the street is convenient for Durham.

I last reviewed Rue Cler in 2015, and I am happy to say they continue to be excellent. As close to being in France as one can find in NC, it is the place to go for a wonderful meal. Their chicken specialty is superb...and takes extra time.More

This is our second visit in about a month and enjoyed a wonderful meal both times. Had the prix fixe dinner on both occasions and savored each course. Some may complain the portions are small, but with the three courses, you are abel to enjoy...a variety of excellent dishes without being stuffed. Wonderful food and friendly, knowledgeable, efficient service. Highly recommended.More

The piping hot, aromatic, French onion soup on an icy night was a treat for us both. The skirt steak with frites was the best steak I've had in years -- perfectly medium rare, beautifully seasoned, amazingly tender for this flavorful cut. Excellent wines by...the glass, the bottle list is amazing. Server was prompt, helpful, fun, and friendly. The floor is concrete, the wooden benches hard (but pillows provided), the walls stark except for the chalked menus, and this big box of a room was a bit noisy. But the staff and the food made the meal a success.More

Gratin dauphinois : faultless. Magret : 'impeccable'. Wine : very good (and perfect temperature). Even trying to be 'très très difficile' this place is hard to fault!
