It is a bit of a shock when you arrive freshly from your lovely white washed hotel playing a bit of Nina Simone in the bar, to this roadside restaurant, but persevere. The owner is charming and generous, and the food was amazing. The best...octopus salad I have ever had plus giant prawns which were also delicious cooked in garlic butter. Even the rice was cooked to perfection and massive portions ! So tow starters, two giant prawn mains, a mojito and a bottle of rose for under £60. Go, definitely worth a visitMore

Lived two years in London with a regular Friday curry. Coolen is not very Indian. Food was ok, good, but not what we expected. Octopus salad, crab gratin? The lamb curry was ok but very mild. Would have wanted a chicken tikka masala etc. Will...try another, more Indian restaurant next time.More

If you are staying in the north near the Grand Baie area, then definitely visit Chez Ram! My Fiance & I visited early October, just after the Island had fully reopened for tourists, so understandably the local restaurants are not yet seeing pre pandemic levels...of custom. Hopefully this will change as there are some fantastic family run spots outside of the hotels and Chez Ram was definitely one of them. Really tasty, local food and incredibly priced also! Mostly though, we were welcomed and looked brilliantly all night by Parama Sivaramen, whose Father opened the restaurant 30 years earlier! We had a great night, mainly because of him!More

A genuinely delicious culinary delight. In a world of endless buffets and luxury hotels, Chez Ram is a real restaurant, run by real locals, offering real food at reasonable prices. If you’re in the Grand Baie area, don’t miss this place.

Honestly the best food I’ve had in Mauritius. The price is cheap and the service is AMAZING! I would definitely recommend. We’ve been 3 times now. Truly delicious and amazing food

Best restaurant we’ve visited during our stay in Grand Baie. We decided to return for our last night for a second visit because it was so good the first time. We highly recommend the giant prawns - best we’ve eaten anywhere - and the octopus...curry. They also make their own rum punch which is very tasty and very strong! For dessert we had banana flambé. The bananas in Mauritius are small but full of flavour. The staff are very attentive and entertaining and the prices are unreal for the quality of food and service. Enjoy!More

I love the welcome the decor and the food. Typical Mauritian food with a bit of spice. My favourite? Ourite salad, although i am hard pressed to choose. Highly recommended

This roadside restaurant was a five minute walk from our hotel so we thought we would give it a go. Lovely interior, great staff but the food! I had an octopus curry, flavourful, meaty-one of the best seafood curries I have ever had. Go, it’s...amazingMore
