My husband and I always enjoyed take out from the Cull House in years passed but unfortunately we will not be returning. We do not eat at the restaurant because they only use paper products and plastic forks. It is not enjoyable to eat soup...out of a paper bowl. We did enjoy the food so we would bring it home. We were a huge fan of the clam bake; although a bit pricey, it was always tasty. The last three times we have ordered it we get home to find something missing from the dinner. When I ordered it last night I specifically asked that they make sure everything that was included with the meal was there. Once again, something was missing. We have also noticed the portion sizes have been considerably decreased and the 10% discount they offer on their website is not given. I guess we will now be going to Kingston's in Sayville. Better food, service and you get what you pay for.More
Met up here with my buddy and his dog 🐕 on 10/1/20. We sat outside on the good sized patio. Part of my life I grew up in the area and have been going to the Cull House since I was a kid. Our server...(the hostess at the bar was very welcoming) was very accommodating & polite; she brought over a bowl of water without even being asked. The seafood 🦞🐠 🐚 🦀 menu is extensive and they always have great specials. The food is not extravagant and presentation is mostly on paper plates and plastic serving wear (a tradition there). We shared the steamers which were 😋excellent! My friend had the lobster 🦞 roll that he enjoyed very much. I went with the broiled fisherman’s platter (fish, scallops, crab cake, and shrimp 🍤). It was very good and it came with two sides (my choice was vegetables). The inside of the restaurant is cozy and has that Long Island ⚓️ nautical look. There is a full bar and quite a few local beers 🍻 on tap. If your in the area stop in. It’s also a solid choice if your catching the ferry ⛴ to Fire Island as it’s (walking distance) nearby.More
Dined outdoor at the Cull House last week and was not disappointed. The steamed clams were true little necks and the freshest we've had all season. We really should have had a second order. The fried shrimp breaded at the restaurant was a simple but...delicious preparation! The swordfish steak was a nice thick piece and very fresh. The fish was served with a homeade tzatziki sauce. Perfect! We're still talking about what a great decision it was to dine here. Very safe! We'll go back at least once before it gets too cold. Very very happy with the quality of the food at this restaurant. Get out and support them and enjoy the freshest fish in this part of Long Island. And reasonably priced too!More
Our party of six had a delicious dinner at the Cull House on a Tuesday evening. Since it was a weeknight, the place wasn’t too busy. Our server, Colleen, was AMAZING! She greeted us quickly, brought a round of waters, and took our drink order....We mentioned we were on a time limit and everything came out promptly, so it was a group effort including the bartender and chef/cooks. It was hard to choose, but our favorite meals were the fried shrimp and scallops dinner, crab cakes dinner, salmon dinner, and crab stuffed shrimp dinner. We will be back!More
I've been eating at the Cull House for as long as I can remember, as I come to Fire Island Pines. I've had quick dinners before the last ferry of the night. I've had celebratory oysters and martinis on the way back to Manhattan. I've...even had them cater 125 person lobster bakes for me on Fire Island (they have it down to a SCIENCE!). Every single time, the food is tasty and fresh, the cocktails are cold and the staff is genuinely kind and helpful. They've done a great job during COVID of providing outdoor dining, spaced out seating, and of course masks and sanitizer. You can't find a better spot for local dining and great seafood!!More
Great food Great , friendly service . NO complaints ever , plus a good cucumber basil martini from the outside garden
We were hoping we found a gem but were sorely disappointed with food and service. The waitress was not warm or friendly as we were shown to our table. The menu items were excessively priced and we noticed plastic forks and knives that were not...substantial enough to eat anything on the menu without shattering. Seriously, they should hand out safety goggles because those forks are an accident waiting to happen. I ordered Manhattan clam chowder and my girlfriend ordered lobster bisque. The soups arrived in tiny paper bowls which showed a lack of class and environmental awareness. The chowder lacked body but the bisque made up for it as it had the consistency of wall paper paste. The bisque was left behind and when the waitress picked up what was essentially a full bowl of soup, she never inquired if anything was wrong. I can only guess that she was used to patrons not enjoying it. I will add that at no other point during our meal did she stop by our table to check on us. The entrees were also unimpressive, ridiculously priced and again came on paper plates. The Cull House has absolutely no sense of environmental responsibility as they choose to stuff the landfill rather than use reusable plates and utensils. I don't mind paying for a good meal but this was a place to forget.More
These little neck clams are to die for. I had mine with the tomatoe sauce which was super fresh and yummy. One order is good for one person if you love clams. They were so tender.
Just moved to the area and saw great reviews. As our 1st stop we figured lets stay local... Boy were we ALL disappointed!!! The server A. didn't like kids which we had 2, but they were quiet, doing their coloring.... or B. wanted to go...home and was giving a table she didn't want. Being a server myself, I saw exactly what I wouldn't do to my patrons. Ok so enough about poor service. Ordered the NE Clam Chowder first taste too much flour base, not enough clams or seafood broth base. Tried the Lobster Grill cheese. Dry Lobster, cheese cheddar must have been mild blend because there was NO TASTE!! My kids ate their Fries, but what 4 yr old wouldn't they came out cold n soggy My husband ordered the surf n turf tacos. They were alright but he was never asked how would you like your steak prepared, came well done. The only flavor was a spicy lime sauce, too spicy for him. I asked for a round of waters never came and had to go to bar and ask for check.Watched as our server cleaning floors during our time there personally she could have taken 2 minutes to ask us how is everything, which I would have said: its ok can I get a glass of water... Server only came to drop off food. Again poor service n tasteless. Wouldn't go back too many Restaurants in area and on Long Island. WOULDN'T want to be disappointed again. What a shame.... was looking forward to having a go to place t ok take family n friends to during their visit!More
