Looking to expand our middle eastern horizons we chose Mavi as it was on our way home from Port Jefferson. We were surprised we were the only diners, but it was early in the evening. That being said, there was no wait and service was...very attentive. I started with the Sigara Borek, phylo dough stuffed with feta and mozzarella cheese and had the Shepherd's salad with gyro, a great mix of vegetables and tasty meat. My wife had the lamb shish-kabob with a good helping of vegetables and bulgar. Both of us were very happy with our meals. Just have to wonder why they aren't attracting more customers.More

The gyros are just ok here.but the appetizer called Mavi Delight for Two is excellent one of the best things on the menu. We live across the street and order frequently.

This used to be one of our favorite places to come and eat. Now there are so many things that are wrong with this place. First it’s dirty visibly dirty. Secondly everything is served on paper and plastic. At these prices utensils and real plates...do not seem to be a big request. And do not use the bathroom-The floor is dirty the walls are dirty there’s stains all over everything and there was pubic hair on the seat. I will not be back sad since it used to be a favoriteMore

Four of us went to Mavi's on a Saturday for dinner. When we walked in, we passed a porch that had a table littered with the remnants of a dinner or party. We did not think twice about that table until we left 2 1/2...hours later and the table had not been cleared. 1. When I go out for dinner I do NOT want to be served on PAPER PLATES using PLASTIC UTENSILS. 2. One waiter: very earnest and nice, but pretty much invisible. We had to ask for more iced tea (also served in plastic cups), straws, and so on more than once. 3. Mavi's always had great fries. Well, they now serve steak fries which I do not like. The seasoning is still the same, but the fries were a disappointment. 4. Noisy: there was a table with kids who were screaming and noisy. Why do other diners think it is okay for their kids to act out in public? It made the night unpleasant. 5. The food was okay: not great. We had salad with gyro meat, Doner Kebab, and two other dishes. The best food was the hummus appetizer. CONCLUSION: we will not return anytime soon. There are better options.More

Apparently the food used to be excellent here. Something clearly has changed. Possibly the worst meal I've ever had dining out, no exaggeration. Paper plates and forks? Really? Then something came out that was dried, reheated lamb with what tasted like a can of hunts...tomato sauce simply dumped on top with yogurt in the middle. Putrid. The rest of the guests with me were extremely disappointed with their 'meals' as well. Avoid.More

Delicious Turkish food. Quaint restaurant. Friendly service. We love the mixed grill and lentil soup. This is one of our family’s go-to dinner spots to take out guests.

Was introduced to Mavi by friends last year. Now, whenever I'm in town, I have to eat at Mavi. Love their Greek salad, kofte plate, hummus, and baba ganoush. Pros: Great menu. The food here is always fresh and tasty! Prompt friendly service, and you...can order take-out. Cons: Atmosphere and parking just OK. Restaurant is located on a very busy corner, so sometimes hard to get in and out. Last time I was there, the restroom floors were sticky (not mopped?) -- a big turn-off. Restaurant is never really full at any time. While phoning in an order, a young lady was startled by my order of Baba Ganoush and didn't know how to spell it; she also got my kofte order wrong and gave me the pita sandwich rather than the plate (perhaps she was new?). We ordered paninis on two occasions, and both were disappointments. Often when I come by, the entire kitchen/wait staff is sitting out front smoking and chatting (there's no place else to hang, I get it, but it just looks bad to your guests). Despite the cons, I return because of the food. If they could improve the atmosphere a little, they would get five stars from me.More

This place has great food . The place is small and cozy . Bring your own alcohol if you want any ,and there isn’t a cork fee . We were very lucky to go when it wasn’t busy . Why it wasn’t busy is beyond...me , this place should be busy all the time ,with how great the food is . They do have a busy takeout . We will be making this a regular place to eat when we visit The Island . loved the lentil soup , it’s the best I’ve had !More

We have been to this wonderful spot many times and always find the food plentiful and consistent. The spanakopita is delicious and flaky. The salads are fresh and the mahi mahi was grilled to perfection. They serve bulgar with their dishes which is nice alternate...to rice. My favorite thing is the Turkish coffee...not for the faint of heart! It is a wonderful cup Of coffee joy and my hubby loves the baclava. We are happy to be regulars. Whether you are going with one or ten people the food and staff are great!More

We have a small pool of people at work in our own football pool. The winner of the pool for the year gets to select a restaurant and the rest of us take the Champion out to dinner. This year was Mavi. Great meal, great...service. love the BYOBs option. They were extraordinarily accommodating. This is much better than the deli that we all visited during school which is just down the road. Be prepared to be surprised.More

My family and I order from Mavi a few times a week usually. We love their chicken and lamb kebobs, the Greek salad with chicken, the lamb shank special they run in winter, and the pasta with seafood and pink sauce. They are reliably good,...friendly, and fast. The ingredients are always fresh and well prepared. I've also ordered the hummus several times as an appetizer to take to dinner parties, and it's much fresher and tastier than grocery store hummus.More

Delish Turkish food. Verything was perfect. All fresh and home made. The ambiance is more like a small bistro but otherwise perfect. Unless youre one of the unlucky ones to have to wait for a table. Total capacity about 30. Were definitely going back and...bringing adult kids along.More

It's a good idea, the dining room is small.
