When RBI opened under the first management and owners it was great. During the pandemic it went through a ownership change. And now the service and food is absolutely hit or miss.
We're been to this place three times in the last six months... But...I've only had one meal... because two out of three times I sent the food back to the kitchen. RBI does get first place as the only restaurant in the Philippines that I have set back-two different meals.
So let's review here, dinner Saturday night 6 months ago.... I could not even get Prime Rib correct, first time it was served it was refrigerator cold , sent back and 30 minutes later a replacement that had ice crystals in the middle. So they wanted to serve a cold, worthless meal whenever one else was done.
A few months later we went as a party of 4 for breakfast... only 4 people in the whole place. It took them one hour from taking the order to serving the food. And the food could only be described as terrible. So we stayed away for months.
But they got a new training chef to turn the place around. He is an Expat and normally works in Hong Kong. The reports had been good with him so though give it a try again.
Ordered Eggs Benedict and clearly stated I want the eggs very soft. By the way this is one of two specials they have. So they should be able to provide without issues. First off was not served Eggs Benedict.... Eggs Benedict consist of two halves of an English muffin, each topped with Canadian bacon, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. They put ham on in place of the normal bacon and the English muffins were not real English Muffin style. I could overlook if these were the only issues.
But when you requested and told them very soft poached eggs the yolk of the eggs should not be hard yellow balls. My wife found her omelet to be poor, the other couple, maybe their 5th trip under the new chef, they said are also done with RBI now, not enough options and food was heading down hill for them....No reason for anyone to waste your time with RBI.
Yes if the Expat Chef happens to cook your food I believe you could get a good meal..... you could also hit the lottery if you play it. The Chef was very professional and offered to cook a replacement meal, which is rare here in the Philippines and that was nice. But I was not interested in waiting again while my friends ate. He also tried to comp my wife's meal but I do not want to owe the RBI anything. I will not return even if they offer free food.
The Queens Hotel which RBI is located in is closed, they violated the Covid-19 rules and were shut down by the city, so lots of parking which is about the only good thing I can say about RBI...Stay Far Far Away from this place.More
