Poor appetizer. $40 for really bad grouper and the paella was subpar. Don’t ever order it if you’re used to good Portuguese food where the seafood is plentiful and the portions enough for the next day. Not a good value for the cost.
Had dinner with friends at this place. They come here whenever they visit. For me, it was my first time. We had outdoor seating which is perfect right now with Covid going on.
Seafood here is great! The lobster paella will fill you up. Appetizers...are great too like their lobster Mac and cheese.
They make some good desserts too. Tiramisu was very tasty.
Another great thing about this place is their BYOB policy. Bring your own wines, beer, whatever.. They don’t care.
Service was excellent..
Worth a visit if you like seafood..More
PJ’s Place Central Blvd, Seaside Heights, NJ. Enjoyed a great evening out with relatives. This unassuming lil bistro alarmingly trumpets “Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner”, packaged in an inglorious, if not off-putting setting. But turns out they serve up some seriously delicious food at fair prices....You can also stop in for takeout where fresh fried seafood such as shrimp, scallops, flounder, crabcakes are prepared fresh to go. They cover all the bases. I had a tasty blackened ribeye steak, which arrived mid-rare as ordered and came paired with a brilliant rendition of lobster mac n cheese. My cousin Tony Latosa, had a well prepared Mediterranean seafood pasta, while Thomas Calabro wolfed down broccoli rabe and spicy sausage over linguine. Desserts including homemade tiramisu with a twist and carrot cake were extraordinary. Our young waiter, Lou, was a little inexperienced, but he made up for it with attentiveness and energy. They make hard-core Sunday gravy with bracciole included. Got me curious. Chef Anthony visited our table several times. Worth a visit.More
This place was ok. My issue wasn't really the food but rather their customer service. I felt like they had a problem with black people. They asked us if we had reservations. Which would have been fine if they were crowded however there was literally...only one couple seated. Then once we did get seated we waited about 5 minutes till the waitress finally came over. I noticed the uneasiness of all the staff when dealing with us. They were much friendlier to their white guest. We will definitely not be going back. The food was subpar. I had a lobster roll which was supposed to have toasted bread which wasn't toasted at all and there wasn't alot of lobster in it. My daughter ordered crab cakes that looked frozen.More
A regular at the beach recommended we go here for lunch. We were glad we did. The outside is deceiving and it doesn’t look like much. However, everyone seemed to be ordering Lobster Rolls. We followed along and know why. It was the best lobster...roll I’ve ever had. All meat with little dressing and celery on a nicely toasted bun. I can’t wait to go back!!!More
Picked this restaurant to have a good seafood meal for myself and a steak dinner for my daughter. Sadly I was disappointed. Very limited choice of menu items and my fried seafood trio was missing the flavor I had anticipated .Portions were not generous and...just a few dabs of cocktail and tartar sauce were spread on the plate. Crab cake had a lot of filler.
My daughter ordered her steak well done and it had to be taken back twice to get it cooked correctly. I was surprised that for the price of the food that it was not prepared more professionally.
Our server was very apologetic for the service.
I would not recommend this restaurant.More
Stopped at PJ's Place for breakfast. This eatery needs a make over. Old looking little shore joint. The coffee wasn't good, the scrambled eggs were chopped up fried eggs. Okay for less expensive restaurant, but there are Better places in town. Overall I won't be...going back there.More
My husband had the seafood chowder. It was a bit spicy for me so I had the New England Chowder. The soups were terrific.
I would go back just for the soup!
The seafood was fresh. My scallops were great.
We were both in the mood for fish but after reading some reviews we both zeroed in on the lobster dishes. I had the stuffed lobster my boyfriend the paella. Neither dish disappointed, beautifully presented & very tasty. Although my boyfriend said the paella was...nothing like he’d ever had before (we’ve had in Spain as well as Newark Portuguese restaurants) he said it was delicious. The inside is not much to look at & the outside seating is very simple as well with picnic tables but the food is the real star here!More
