This small storefront decorated reminiscent of a Jamaican beach shack!
Nora greets you warmly, prepares your food to order and keeps all of her customers well fed and happy.
The food is fresh, portions large and prices low!
Ate there last night and for the first time the food was average. Usually it is better. I am writing this because there might be a minor 'game' going on. Norah refused to honor a $5 coupon from the back of cash register receipt from...a local Shop-Rite in WLB. She claimed she didn't know what she agreed to and had to go to court soon to have it adjudicated. $5 is not a big deal however about 4 to 6 years ago the same excuse was used for coupons from Restaurant. Com. She comes from the kitchen explaining she was so busy the night she signed the contract that she didn't understand the ramifications of the coupons on her bottom line. BE AWARE!More
I seldom give Excellent to a restaurant but this out of the way Jamaican restaurant deserves it. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Nothing beats that nowadays. She cooks the food when you order it. We had beef patties, curry shrimp, jerk oxtail, jerk...chicken and some plantains. For drinks we had sorrel and ginger. Not a single item was a miss. Everything was great and the servings were very generous. This place definitely deserves the rating it gets!More
We had dinner here last night for the first time and it exceeded expectations. The curry chicken ,fried plantains and oxtails are to die for, so favarful, tender and filling. A must try place if you are looking to expand your tastebuds. Service was excellent...and friendly, explaining all our choices. The rice and cabbage sides are great too.
Will definately be back to try all the dishes over time. Highly recommend.More
The best Goat Curry I’ve ever had
Decent portion sizes
It’s a little pricey for the cuts
The Jerk Chicken is chopped and there are bone fragments because of this.
My wife and I were at the shore for...a short vacation and decided to try Norah’s because it was so highly rated. We thought this might be a nice change of pace from the usual fried fish platters. The place is little out of the way and does not have off street parking. When we arrived we were the only people there. We ordered Goat, Oxtail and Jerk Chicken with Fried Plantains.
The Goat came on a plate with boiled cabbage and brown rice. It was tasty. Well-seasoned and stewed. The cabbage was bland but edible, the rice was a great way to soak up the extra gravy from the stew. The rice came with two fried plantains on top which was a nice little treat.
The Oxtail came the same way as the goat only stewed in a difference sauce. It was also tasty, but with Oxtail you always get less meat, more bone, and in this case very fatty tail pieces. The fat sadly did not melt in your mouth like it does sometimes. It was more inedible than anything.
The Jerk Chicken had AMAZING flavor. There was a slight smokiness from the grill and the seasoning was perfect. The only problem it they chop the pieces before they serve them into smaller bits. This caused small bone fragments to be in some bites. So you had to chew very carefully and spit out the little pieces.
Overall it’s a delicious place to eat, prices are not cheap but you get a decent portion of foodMore
I read reviews and asked locals and everything pointed here. I was reluctant to try oxtail (because it's an Oxtail) but the owner said I would live it so I ordered it. Wonderful food- wonderful visit with the owners. It was like I was a...welcome guest at their house which I believe it is. Food was great and place is quaint. Mainly carryout but has tables to sit. I will definitely re- visit this restaurant and see how much the baby has grown. Do yourself a visit to the islands while in New JerseyMore
We were in town for a mini getaway and as many do, searched Yelp for restaurants in the area. Norah's had many excellent reviews and we love Jamaican food, so off we went. Hubby is Jamaican, so he knows good food, and both he and...I loved our experience here. The food was awesome as well as the hospitality. I loved the reggae music and chill vibe, and Miss Norah was as nice as can be. Hubby had the curry goat and I had the oxtails. Accompanied by the rice and peas, cabbage and plantains, this food for authentic. Portions were generous and service was good. We are already wondering when we can make another trip down the Parkway to come back to Norah's. If you like Caribbean food, run, don't walk to Norah's Irie. Ya Mon.More
