This was our fourth visit this season. We were seated outside on the deck three times, and in the indoor open air patio once. All four meals were outstanding. The menu has changed since the pandemic, but there is still a wide selection to accommodate...every taste and lifestyle. My husband and I eat keto, and the menu offers countless options. The blackened halibut bites are a must. If you come for lunch, the seafood cobb salad is amazing. A very generous portion, which is enough for two people to split if you get soup and an appetizer. For dinner on this visit my husband and I split the chairman's reserve skirt steak after soup and the Prince Edward Island mussels. Steak was perfectly cooked (requested rare) and very flavorful. Looking forward to bringing friends here this weekend.More

Very pleasantly surprised about everything here. Koi gave us good service and everything we ordered was prepared properly. We make great meals at home and expect at least that level of proficiency when we are paying for a meal, but alas are often disappointed. We...had burrata appetizer and the aioli drizzle and balsamic upped the flavor profile. Nice bed of greens beneath all allowed us to skip salad course. Shrimp appetizer are costly, but colossal-sized and served with cocktail sauce and a smooth tartar sauce and horseradish. Airplane style chicken was moist. Tho the sauce was a little on the salty side, it was a good counterpoint. Scallops on bed of risotto, corn and asparagus were on point. It should not be hard to cook scallops properly, but we have all but stopped ordering them out as they so often are under or overdone. These hit the mark right on. We will definitely try again and hope to be able to duplicate the experience.More

After a few disappointing experiences here the past few years, we returned this past summer. With a large group of family members. Under pandemic conditions, we had a fabulous table outside under the tent, with a great view. The food was again fantastic (never an...issue). But this time the service was superb! We were even greeted by the Manager Darrell who made it fun for the whole group and made us feel very welcomed! I’m sorry I didn’t write this earlier, but we are planning once again to take the family back this summer and can’t wait to experience it again. Anticipating another great meal, I realized I had never written a new review! Glad to welcome back a favorite restaurant right by us! Thanks!More

We were meeting someone and got the time mixed up, we were an hour early but were seated and allowed to drink and not order until our other person showed. That is a MAJOR plus right there. Our server Nicole was a superstar. Handling the...ENTIRE situation like a TOTAL PRO that she proved to be. (that is why she received a 50% tip) As for the food, we had the brunch which was very good on ALL levels from the main course (Chicken and Waffles, Eggs Benedict and Amalfi Eggs) , drinks, sides and dessert . . . . . a total home run for us. We would CERTAINLY return . . . . .More

I have been going to Rooney's for a few years, and this place is always on point with great food, great service, and a great location. I recently moved away and plan to be back in a couple of months. Rooney's is the first eatery...I plan to enjoy when I get there.More

First, I have to say that the shore view from the restaurant is fantastic if you are seated near the windows. There is an attached parking lot, so parking is very convenient. We ordered the crab cake bites with a horseradish sauce which was very...tasty, and the New England clam chowder was the best we ever had great flavor! We also ordered the Low Country Creole that came with some good cornbread but the sauce and seafood in it had little flavor. The waiter was super attentive and friendly. I plan to come back for the crab cake bites, New England chowder, and would try a different main dish.More

Service was friendly.... Ceasar Salad dressing was delicious but just a bit too much on the salad. Worth ordering for sure, just ask to maybe not too much dressing. Husband enjoyed his mussels there were A LOT of them... so could definitely share. Crab bites...were tasty! Lobster Bisque was soso.. had a funny aftertaste. Maybe should have stopped there. His combo meal was average. My Halibut had to go back. BUT, our server was wonderful & worked hard so we felt satisfied with how they handled things. Keylime pie was tasty, but not special. Would recommend this restaurant. Would definitely go back. Most things were good & as I said, the rectified the meal. So happy customers!More

Having read a few negative reviews I was questioning my decision to outdoor dine at Rooney’s .. Not surprised.. Food was Great! Service was awesome and glad I followed my own instincts to return to one of my favorite places in Long Branch! I’ve never...been disappointed. Kudos to Rooney’s for expanding their outdoor seating to accommodate their patrons!More

Awful! We came at 2:30pm for outdoor dining with 3 kids. The hostess told us 30 mins. We waited for 45 mins and walked over to get some information. The hostess notified us that we could be seated at at the promenade but would need...to do take out since it was going to rain and reserved dinners would have priority. I asked why they did not notify us of this information, as they had our telephone number and could have contacted us, not had us wait to find out we would need to do take out and not seated dining at this hour. Ridiculous! I used to come to Rooney’s regularly, as a Jersey native, and now my family and my children are turned off by this garbage establishment! You can keep your location! I’d rather eat PORTUGUESE seafood! NEVER again and I’m going to make sure others know of this ridiculous customer service. Two hostess at the booth and no call to notify us... really smart business decision s made there! Really sad that my family was turned away. For those of us that are from Jersey, our trips to Jersey shore are turning into a complete waste of time and money!More

We have been to Rooney many times and loved it. But this time it was a different story. My girlfriend ordered the Paella. Unfortunately Rooney does not really make Paella from scratch as you would expect, they assemble it. The plate came with rice, chorizo,...and seafood. All these were just cooked separately and piled on the plate. Very disappointing for the expectation and the price. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Mahi. I previously had this and it was great. But this time, the Mahi was mostly dark flesh. It was sweet, but dark. Researching this and visiting my Wegmans lead me to believe I should have sent it back. One thing I noticed is that they now take walk ups. The wait was 2 1/2 hours. Prevously it was reservations only. Wonder if the volume is overloading the kitchen. The reserve parking seems like it is an issue now with walk ups. Previously never had an issue parking. Now the lot was full and I was lucky to find a spot. Was told to initally park in the yellow area, but didn't' want my car to be hit by another car backing out. And we all know how it is down in Pier Village. Maybe the reserved parking should be for resrvations only. It's like Covid never happened. Will think twice about coming to Rooney now. It was up on top, our go to place down in Pier Village, now we will probably consider other venues. Our waitress was excellent.More
