Awesome seafood, one of our must-visits for each beach visit. We had broiled scallops and crab stuffed shrimp. Both were outstanding. The take-away seafood to cook at home is as fresh as can be! We will be back again (and again and again...)
We stopped here on a whim after a long day at the beach. The staff was super friendly, the food was delicious, and the price was very reasonable. We were the last table to sit and the staff did not make us feel rushed at...all. Great experience all around!More
Strong fish smell as soon as you walk in the door. One half is a fish market and the other half is a restaurant. However, I have been to a number of places with the same setup and it never smelled.
So we started with...the steamers which were very good but received only about 12-16 small to medium sized clams on a plate. I was expecting a big bucket of them.
For entrées, the Sautéed Soft shell crabs sounded great but that were not fully cleaned and not fully soft.
The Zuppa di pesce was probably the worst I’ve ever had. The red sauce was not very good at all and the quantity and quality of the shellfish was just not up to par.
The Mussels with white sauce over linguine had no flavor at all.
The Fried shrimp was $24 for 12 small shrimp that also was lackluster.
For dessert, the Cheesecake with Reese’s peanut butter cup topping and Oreo cookie crust was outstanding though.
So the appetizer was good, all four entrees were bad, and the dessert was good.
Bottom line is that I would not go back because of the food quality... and it is expensive; most entree’s are over $30.
That being said, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was very attentive and personable. She went out of her way to provide that personal touch. Even a man, who I assume was the owner, came to our table to ask if we enjoyed our dinners. I just didn’t have the heart to tell him the truth because he and the waitress were so nice.More
when you enter the restaurant, nice greeting by staff but strong smell of fish (not a good sign) but we were seated at our table. Enjoyed some nice appetizers and our entrees came in a timely fashion. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes but I...found my vegetables and food to be on the "just barely warm" side. Tasty and staff was helpful with getting special order to avoid food allergy. Not the greatest experience for the price of the dishes but certainly not the worst. would try it again another time.More
Best seafood in town for 19 years. Combo fresh fish market , take out or sit down BYOB dining , Runners is our go to place. Owner Ken and his staff , especially Mike will welcome you and surely satisfy your desire for terrific seafood....Great fresh showcase selections , lobster tank , a quick well prepared take out or a special in house dining ( servers Jennifer and Lynn are favorites) , you will ENJOY. Although summer seasonal , get there before Labor Day. Don't forget to tip the market college staff.

We have been stopping here to eat for years. It is a must-stop when we are in Lavallette. It is a casual atmosphere but the food is outstanding. The staff(teachers on summer break) is friendly, courteous and very knowledgable about the fare. We always feel...welcome and enjoy talking to one of the owners about the business. Highly recommend this restaurant.More
Runners is still a family owned restaurant and it shows. Staff are friendly and know their seafood. Lines are long but well worth the wait. Either take out or sit down the food is fresh and lucky for us, within walking distance.
We came here for lunch and also another time for dinner. The place is clean, usually very busy which is a good sign. We enjoyed our lunch with the kids and dinner another time. Will try it again summer of 2019
This place has a fish market on one side and a restaurant on the other. The fish dishes were all delicious from the restaurant but it does smell a little fishy because of the market on the direct other side of the wall. It was...the best and freshest fish we had in the town of Lavalette. They should probably separate the restaurant a bit more if possible.More
