I’m a pretty frequent flier there. I always try his specials (smoked meats etc.) it’s always amazing what he can do to a piece of meat. (For a more funky option try the Dagwood!)

On the way back from Jersey shore stopped over What a find! Had chicken wings which were good but the lamb and the Reuben are to die for! We ordered and then ordered some more as we wanted to experience heaven a second time! We...will find a way to get there again!More

Stopped in here with my wife on our way down to Atlantic City. The restaurant was busy on a Thursday lunchtime. The place isn’t fancy, though the decor is playfully southwestern. There’s also a mini Jukebox. We ordered a rack of ribs, a pound of...smoked brisket, smoked beans and coleslaw. Everything was exceptional. The ribs were smoked perfectly and slathered in a tasty sauce. The brisket was soft, beautifully seasoned and moist. The beans featured chunks of brisket. Enjoyable but a bit dry. The coleslaw was creamy and sweet. Best of all was the kind attention of Joseph, the owner. He stopped by our table to chat, offered us a free end cut taste of brisket and played some Jewish Geography with us. We ended up ordering a couple of burgers to go and some brisket to share with family who were we’re meeting in AC for the weekend. Worth the long drive from Long Island to Lakewood!More

Been to Lakewood many times. We didn’t want just a standard kosher deli sandwich place. Came here for the first time. We had a “Baltimore Pit Beef Sandwich” — Great! Great selection of smoked meats, including things we’d never heard of. Check their menu. We...also loved the Bourbon Baked Beans, which had meat in them. We’re looking forward to going there during our next visit to Lakewood. We’re also arranging to bring stuff home with us to MD for a Shabbos meal!More

This is far and away my spouse's favorite restaurant ever. It's not known for it's fine décor, more of a smoky sandwich shop, but every time we're going out for a special occasion and she chooses the venue, the choice is inevitable.. South Side Sandwich...Shop! The food is admittedly superb, although I personally don't prefer this type of cuisine. Still, I'll be frequenting this place a lot. Also, relatively well-priced.More

Located on the outskirts of Lakewood NJ this place is worth the ride. Proprietor Yosef Mutterperl is a great cook and possessed of a great sense of humor. Not everything is available all the time; cooking and smoking is not a mass production effort. Dagwood...hoagie was enough for 2. Wings, French fries and onion rings were great. Bourbon baked beans are sweet. Too much to write about.More

The owner smokes his own meats. Incredibly good and the first time I have ever seen kosher bacon (read: not from a pig). One of the few restaurants that stands out in the area.

There mate many kosher choices in Lakewood. All of them are great! However I never regret choosing the SSSS! The extensive menu will satisfy Even the most picky and discerning diner. Get the smoked rack of ribs and the second cut brisket. Yeah I know...is more fatty but it’s worth it!More

The food is excellent! Ask Joe the owner for recommendations...he is a master sandwich creator and a master meat smoker!

This is the place for smoked meats, burgers, and other tasty meals that prepared with care. This is not another fast food place.

Excellent kosher sandwich shop!! My husband and I had a corned beef and a pastrami sandwich and they both were delicious!!! My husband said if we had this sandwich shop back home, he'd go once a week!

I've had some delicious smoked meats here. The service is friendly and it feels like you are part of the family. Would highly recommend.
