Back in town for work on a very rainy Sunday night. I have had pies from here over the years and I have never been disappointed in my orders. Yes, you have to take your order to go as there is no wait staff or...dining area. Just Al himself taking your order and making it. There are several types of pies that you can order we had a 1964 and a Sicilian square with mushrooms and cheese. We took them down to the local bar and consumed our meal. One of the patrons asked if that was a pie from AL and I took him over two pieces to share with his date. We got into a very interesting conversation with several of the "locals" who support Al's when the purchase pies. Yes, some people will not like the oven baking pie because of some "charring" of the crust but that is part of the magic Al puts into his pies. If you are looking for Pizza Hut or Dominos type pie please go else were and do not slam the mans work. If you want a true Old World taste and flavor by all means go and find out what all of the buzz is about Al's pies.More

This is a made man throwing the pies here! Best in the NY & NJ and we claim the real Italian's outside of Italy! You will not find this pizza anywhere else! Definitely expensive. CASH ONLY

Wow. This is what I call great pizza. I've been meaning to order from this pizza shop for a while now but I always forget they're only open on Friday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's. I got the 1957 which is a thin crust. I got it...light golden, which is 7 minutes and probably a minute too long for thin pizza (but that's my fault for not knowing). I added sesame seeds to the crust and chicken, mushrooms, and truffle Parmesan as toppings. The pizza was indeed thin and delicious. I also ordered the Sicilian, also light golden and this crust was perfect. I think this is the star of the menu. I added pepperoni, mushroom and fresh garlic, and sesame on the crust and wow this was my favorite. The ingredients were so fresh and delicious. The sauce had some kind of kick to it and you can see the ingredients. The dough was soft but the edges were crispy so it was a perfect balance. This place is pricey compared to most pizza places but it is worth it. I'll definitely be back to try other varieties and items on the menu.More

Whenever we are in the area we must get a classic half pepper and onion for my husband. It puts him in his happy place. Simply the best.

This fantastic pizza joint has an old-world feel to it, with usable brick ovens and a hurried attitude that belies a wonderful pizza that's worth the wait! They have a good variety of toppings and cheeses and will bake the pizza to your order, depending...on how crispy you want your crust. They also have a variety of preset pizza orders with a variety of cheese-sauce ratios. The whole alley where you wait for your pizza, smells gloriously like pizza!More

I wanted a chicken parm on garlic bread. I got a bunch of attitude from Al that he could make 10 pizzas in the time it took him to make my sandwich. He quoted me $35 for the sandwich and I got the impression he...didn’t want to deal with me. Picked up a 1964 with meatballs which was good. Sauce was tasty. Al just needs to take a laxative and tone down on the schtick.More

Al is a true master of his craft. There are places with people who can make a good pie, but Al makes so many different pies that are all fantastic. He isn’t a one trick pony. We try new stuff all the time, and nothing...is ever less than awesome. The white Sicilian is the best pizza I have ever had. The zeppoles are delicious too. Take a tour through his menu and pizza history.More

Grabbed a Sicilian and normal round pie for dinner and was not disappointed. Got them both cooked at a 7 and the round was nice and thin. They were both very good, but the Sicilian definitely stole the show. Thick, but not overly doughy with...a great texture. Unique spot, you wait in the alley for your pie. Whole street smells like pizza lol. If you love pizza like me check them out. Very unique spot, you can even add sesame seeds to the crust.More

I drove 40 miles and when I got there, the pie wasn't ready. I bought an 18 inch with extra cheese, peppers and onions and it was $35. I went there because of all the hype about it being great. You are not allowed in...and there is two parking spaces. Having to wait in that area was not where I wished to be. got the pie home and it was fully burnt crust and the pie itself. Local pizza has much better cheese and burnt pizza is the worst tasting. I will never get another pie from there. Overpriced and not tasty at all.More

Santillos has a time machine that is their ovens and allows you to experience pizza through the decades. These are the real deal pies of the past. Bring exact change, your appetite and a yearning for authenticity.

My brother looked online and saw the reviews for Santillo's. He made the trip and brought home pizza for my mom and I for dinner. The pizza was absolutely horrible. The dough- was like cardboard! Mozzarella was tasteless and the sauce was acidic! Threw the...large and small pie out! Large pie w/ 1/2 pepperoni looked like the pepperoni was disintegrated and the pie was too charred! When my brother called to tell them about the horrible experience, they could care less. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!More

So let me tell you guys about my first time HORRIBLE experience at Santillos...My pregnant girlfriend and I are craving pizza on a rainy Saturday, what better place than Santillos right? (Hearing how great their pizza is from others) So I decide to order via...phone a 2020 style pizza ($28 on their website) with pepperonis as a topping nothing else, fine. 45min later I finally arrive to pick up my pizza. As I am approaching the pizza shop I see a few customers standing outside in the rain waiting to get their orders. Ok, restaurants are only open for takeout fine. I approach the window to pickup my pizza and proceed to pay for my pizza via credit card. All of a sudden I am being told I can’t pay card, cash only. Hmmm that’s strange. (Why didn’t you tell me this over the phone when I ordered the pizza???) Then I question it, I was told the credit card machine was down and also it would take too long to process payment??? In addition, my total is $34??? $6 additional for pepperoni?? Me just trying to get this pizza back to my pregnant girlfriend foolishly got back in my vehicle and headed to the nearest gas station to withdraw “cash” for this pizza. Finally, I get back to Santillos, same customers that were there when I first got there were still waiting on their orders. I tend $40 cash to an employee that appears to be puzzled as if it’s his first day on the job. He hands me my pizza with no change. I then asked him where’s my change??? He then proceeds to tell me “Oh theres no change would you like a $5 dollar 2 liter??!!?” At this point, my Pizza box is getting wet from the rain, im starving, my girlfriend is back home starving, I grab my pizza and my $5 pepsi and rush out of there. This is one of worst experiences in customer service I’ve ever encountered. All in all I spent almost $50 on 1 pie with 1 topping and 1 soda. What a way to take advantage of people in this pandemic crisis we’re going through! Never again!!!! Pizza lovers beware!!!! Btw, pizza was mediocre 🤦🏻‍♂️More

WOW....I was expecting a great pizza after hearing about this place at a golf tournament in Florida...yup, Florida and discussing pizza in New Jersey. First the good stuff...crust was thin and good. And charred which I do like. That’s all I can think of for...good. Now the rest... Price was $24...yup, $24 for a basic sauce pizza and sausage. $5 for the sausage. I think if you scraped up all the sausage on the pizza it would maybe be two breakfast links! Sauce was so-so...definitely nothing great. So, crust + tomato sauce + very little sausage + very little flavor = $24. Plus tip. Here’s a tip...stay away!More
