I was in a motorcycle accident and have been out of work for most the Summer. I am from the area, but moved out of the area in 2003. My Wife has Stage 4 Breast Cancer and is from Pennsylvania. I have spent most of...this summer showing her things I did as a Kid and/or places of note I thought she would enjoy. The Mug was a "yeah I got drunk there" spot until today 8/3/20.
I was going to show her and let her enjoy Kellerhaus and we had planned to stop at a different restaurant to eat. That restaurant listed as takeout only and in the sun that was not going to be good for us. I should have researched beforehand but, I was busy doing other things and assumed the restaurant would be open for dinning in. `My Wife asked about the Mug and I said why not.
I am not sure who they had in the Kitchen today, but they were rocking it. We had the 4 Pretzels w/ Cheese for an Appetizer. It was very good. The Pretzels were soft and the cheese was the right balance between liquid goo and semi solid glop. Excellent for dipping and seasoned to perfection.
We had Sandwiches for lunch. I had a Grilled Pastrami on Rye (Swiss, Onion, Dijon Mustard on grilled Rye Bread) and she had a "Mug" Burger (FRESH GROUND BEEF, USA CHEESE, LETTUCE & TOMATO ON A BULKIE ROLL).
When my sandwich was delivered I thought it was to small and look cheaply made. However, it was excellent. The meat was thinly sliced and tasty. the cheese, Onion, and Dijon mixed smoothly and the bread was nicely toasted.
Repeatedly this Summer my wife has been disappointed in the simple "All American Type Burger" served though out the state. This time however she was delighted. She kept talking about how well it was cooked and how just damn good it was. I was so happy to see her eat over half the burger as most of this summer were one or two bites and then "maybe the kids will eat it".
Great Job today Mug!!More
