I grew up eating a lot of sushi and I cant believe this place is in the middle of the country. Its some of the best sushi and sashimi I've ever had. This place has a great patio area and a variety of Japanese fusion food. We have been back several times and it never disappoints.

We selected this restaurant for our anniversary meal on our anniversary vacation. We were blown away with the flavor and the freshness. They take pride in the quality of their food as well as the freshness. The service was too-notch. Our server, Becky, was fantastic. She was attentive and on top of everything. She had some great suggestions for us, like the mango crab rangoon. Our sushi rolls and sashimi were the best we have had. (Actually, my best was when I lived in Hawaii, but that was many years ago.). Try the Spanish Fly roll if you like spicy. My husband loved it. I had the Pretty in Pink roll which, when he tasted it, my husband said was even better than his. It was great. We also orders different sashimi. I appreciated being able to see where it came from and how it was sourced (net, fresh catch, traps, etc.).
If we are ever in Lincoln Nebraska, or any of the other locations this restaurant has, we will be sure to go for a meal.

Food and service were excellent. The experience for us is what we call assembly line sushi. No direct interaction with the sushi chefs. All orders were funneled thru waiter. There were 8 people behind the sushi bar all interacting with each other. We enjoy the artistry and direct interaction with actual sushi experts, this is not what we are accustomed to or seek out. Having said that we did have fresh, tasty items.

I was in town for the night and stopped in for happy hour. I had a samurai saketini, mango crab rangoon, a blue kani roll, and a prince roll. Everything was excellent and my service was great too! Would totally recommend.
To the person who left a 1-star review because an asthmatic in their party refused to wear a mask, I have to question your integrity. Restaurants only make you wear a mask when you’re waiting to be seated or walking to the restroom. I work with people with moderate to severe asthma that wear masks with hepa filter inserts all day at work, because they know catching a disease that attacks the lungs would be disastrous for them. It’s highly suspicious that your party couldn’t wait outside/in the car/make a reservation and then wear a bandana or any kind of face covering for the 10-second walk to the table. This seems like a petty and unfair attack to the business that is trying to protect their other customers from getting sick.

Blue Sushi Sake Grill on 10/22/2020 at approximately 8:00 PM violated the local directed health measure with regards to individuals who cannot wear face coverings due to a medical condition. A party of four were denied service as one member of the party refused to wear a mask due to her severe asthma (medical condition).
From the health measure:
The DHM goes into effect Monday, September 14 and continues until October 31.
The DHM includes exceptions. Masks are not required for the following:

- Cannot otherwise wear a face covering because of a medical condition, a mental health condition, or a disability that prevents the wearing of a face covering

Brian, I'm sorry to hear this. I have spoken to our team at that restaurant and they were unaware of anyone's medical condition. I'm terribly sorry about this miscommunication. We have had other guests with the same concerns and we always will do our very best to accommodate anyone in this regard. We have and will continue to follow all guidelines. Fun atmosphere. Recommend the booth low table seating if it works for your group. Cozy and intimate on that side. Food was really good. Hawaiian & Crunchy Blue Rolls were favs in our group.

My husband and I went last night for date night and the food was so delicious. All of the sushi we ordered was top notch and we especially enjoyed the beef tenderloin. It was so tender and melted in your mouth. It came with delicious veggies-Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, asparagus, and rice. Can’t wait to go back. Good beer/drink selections and the service and atmosphere are great too. Can’t say that about too many restaurants in Lincoln!!❤️🍣❤️🍣

I was overwhelmed by all the choices on the menu, but the waiter did a good job of getting me through it. I did not try the sake but did like their martini selection. Great decor, atmosphere, would have loved to have had my Wife with me!

The seaweed salad was mediocre at best, the wait time on the one roll that I had was a little on the long side (especially considering they weren’t that busy). That said the roll I had (the tidal wave) was pretty tasty. Price was reasonable.

We came here for a Friday lunch that took nearly 2 hrs. Our group included 4 adults and 3 kids. We were seated quickly and our order was taken promptly. And then we waited. And noticed tables around us being served including an 8 top that ordered after us. We got edamame/soups/salads after about 30 minutes, the kids food was brought out after about 45 minutes, and the rest of our order after about 60 minutes when the kids were practically done eating. Fortunately the kids tolerated this extended lunch relatively well! When we asked about the lengthy wait our server said the kitchen got slammed. They did comp the edamame we ordered and brought out free crab rangoons a few minutes before our sushi. The food was good; I’ve always enjoyed the food at Blue. But I don’t think it was worth the wait. Especially with so much competition in the Haymarket/downtown area. For me, it looks like it’s time to check out the competition rather than return to Blue.
