At the heart of the Lazlo's Brewery & Grill kitchen is our one of a kind, hickory grill where we prepare Lazlo's signature Burgers, New York Strips, the popular Rainbow Chicken and fresh seafood. Our menu features a delicious and unique selection of homemade appetizers, salads and sandwiches, all complemented with made-from-scratch soups, side dishes and desserts. Our History: On March 20, 1991, Telesis, Inc. opened the state's first brewpub, Lazlo's Brewery & Grill. The innovative combination of home-style recipes, locally brewed beer and team service was an immediate success and has since grown from its first location in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket to three locations, with a Lazlo's opening in South Lincoln on September 27, 2000, and the third in West Omaha on October 2, 2006. To this day, Lazlo's Brewery & Grill remains the oldest brewpub in the state of Nebraska.

The BEST Restaurant in Downtown Lincoln!

My husband and I met a friend of ours for lunch in the Haymarket District, and decided to eat at Lazlo’s. Boy, were we glad that we did! Our server was Sam, who was GREAT—friendly and helpful as we navigated the menu, and genuinely happy to be assisting us. It was really fast service, even at lunch time. The menu is excellent, with lots of choices, and we loved the ability to build our own lunches with the choices of sides for the main dishes. My husband had the Reuben, which was excellent—very lean and very tasty. Our friend and I had the salmon and avocado salads, which were delicious! They were the perfect blend of flavors, very fresh and artfully done. And the creamy garlic sauce was SO tasty! We found the prices very reasonable, especially for the Haymarket District. The restaurant is in a fabulous location, in a truly lovely old building that has been well maintained. The dining space is airy and full of light, and everyone working in the restaurant, from the reception desk to the servers to the bussers seemed happy to be there and happy to have us dining with them. We definitely rate Lazlo’s as the BEST meal in downtown Lincoln! We’ll be back the next time we’re in town!

Good service, mediocre jambalaya

Service was good, cute place. They all bragged on how popular their jambalaya was, a signature dish. They had even run out of it earlier but had just made another batch We found it unlike other jambalaya we had eaten. And not nearly as good. I suppose Nebraska isn’t the epicenter of jambalaya Bread pudding was decent Good beer though

This was our first visit, found online as a stop on a road trip and wow, this was a good pick! In the heart of the University scene, it was a great atmosphere, food was delish, great application of COVID precautions noted including masks entering and leaving, electeonic menu with QRS code, social distancing. The server even suggested house favorites and drink sampling of their beers made on site which were all delish. Everyone loved their meal. Recommend the voodoo chicken, rainbow chicken, their lavosh's, and their home brews (u get to sample 3 for free).

Nice stop in downtown Lincoln

We were passing through and wanted dinner and a drink. The downtown location was closest to us. Parking can be a little limited and tricky but thankfully we found a good spot. You pay for meter parking before 6 pm. The service was very friendly. We tried the Winter Hazy IPA and it was very good. For food we tried the beer cheese soup, which was much more cheese than beer in flavor but was still tasty. I also tried what was essentially fish and chips. It’s made with Pollock (hey, it’s Nebraska) but the batter is good and crispy. The prices were very reasonable for a downtown location and we ordered an appetizer, 2 drinks, and 4 entrees (2 kids meals- which include ice cream) for under $70.00.

Late dinner

Drove into Lincoln late and wanted to eat before we checked into the hotel. Drove around downtown until he decided on this place. He’d been here before and had liked it so we ran in the rain to get in without getting too wet. The kitchen was closing in half an hour so we looked at the menu and decided on a pub club and hickory-grilled barramundi. With an IPA and a strawberry margarita rimmed with salt. The pub club is ham, smoked turkey, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo on toasted honey wheat bread. You can add avocado and have it California style as well. The barramundi is a meaty and mild white fish which was seasoned and brushed with garlic lemon butter before being grilled. It came with a side - sautéed green beans for me - and a salad or soup. I chose soup as it was raining and I wanted some warmth. Went with beer cheese soup or that’s what I think he said. Sounded intriguing. That came with toasted bread crumbs in the soup abd a side of toasted dipping bread. It was similar in texture to broccoli and cheddar soup with a slight taste of beer. The bread was a little too toasted but since we didn’t eat it all no biggie. The pub club looked really good and the fries were delish. I ate some even though I was full with own meal. I love potatoes. The barramundi was delicate in flavor. The seasoning they used didn’t overpower the fish. It was well cooked and while I might have preferred more salt, I didn’t add any since I’m trying to consume less salt in my diet. However, the dish was still tasty especially with the sautéed green beans. A good suggestion by the bartender who took our order. The margarita wasn’t as strong as some I’ve had but it was a nice drink after a long day of driving. This was a nice meal and atmosphere. I will remember it in case we stop in Omaha again.

Solid food, good service

We love Lazlo's. Part of that is that it is good, part is that my wife and I used to go there shortly after the place opened when we first started dating...a long time ago. It is a brewery, but we never really went for the beer so I'm not going to comment on that. I think their beer is not memorable. The service is always very good. The only complaint I have about the service is that this is one of those places where the servers come over after the food is served and ask "Is everything amazing?". I don't care for that b/c amazing is quite a high bar. So what is good here? Everything we've tried. Voodoo chicken, voodoo chicken lavosh, rainbow chicken, salmon, French dip, and on and on and on. Here are some tips: 1. Get the fries and ask for honey mustard; their honey mustard is amazing. 2. Get the nachos, but don't let them bring the 'naked' nachos. Ask them for nachos, old school with the stuff on the chips. What's the deal with naked nachos where you have to construct it yourself? 3. The voodoo chicken is awesome as either a lavosh (pizza like thing on a cracker crust). 4. The spin dip is also very good, but go for the nachos. 5. The club is awesome. 6. For sides, the fries are great, as are the baked beans, as are the green beans, as is the homemade apple sauce. You really can't go wrong here. The only bad meals out of hundreds that we've had here was the off night from a service standpoint.

Horrible Service

This evening, I decided to go to one of my favorite restaurants in the Haymarket. I was met by a lovely hostess who seated us immediately. However, the reason I am writing this horrendous review is because of the lack of care and attention that our server, Miles, gave us. He didn't greet us properly or even tell us he was our server until he dropped our waters off after 10 minutes of sitting there. When he confirmed that he was our server, we said we wanted to put in drink orders. He then id'd us, which we had no issues with until he started making snark comments, almost insinuating that our ids were fake since they were from out of state. I have never once had to explain to a server why I was in Nebraska and why all of our ids were from the same place(hint: They were visiting from my hometown, and I had raved about Lazlo's and the Emperyan Brewery). Then, Miles asked if we were ready to put our food order in. We weren't all ready, so we expressed that to Miles, our server, and he said that he would just come to my friend last (who had never been to the restaurant before) instead of giving us more time. Feeling rushed, my friend ordered the first thing that caught her eye as she wasn't ready because of her feeling rushed. Then he went away, only to reappear with our checks when we were just two bites into our diner, which is absolutely unacceptable. At this point, I began to get extremely upset that this is the service I was receiving. But to not make a fuss I just put the check to the side and began eating my meal. Never once did he check on us, get us refills, or even drop off the food. Then he came back about halfway through our meal asking for the checks that he had dropped off earlier in the meal. At this point I was stunned, I am a server myself, and I understand when you want to keep tables moving but never completing the checkout within the first half of the meal. When he collected the cards no one was ready to pay so he proceeded to just stand at the end of the table until everyone got there cards out, rudely. At this point I was just fed up and asked for a box because I had no interest in finishing my meal. He brought back the checks and just dropped them in a pile and walked away forgetting our boxes. Where we waited another 20 minutes until we ended up flagging down a different server and asking them to grab a couple boxes for us. Then my friends and I still had our drinks to finish so we were sitting and talking when all of a sudden he comes up and collects our receipts from us for his tip, not saying anything. At this point everyone was just appalled by this because it seemed like he was literally pushing us out the door. So a night out for a few drinks at one of my favorite brewery's ended with one drink. Where our original plan was to try a handful of their local brewed beers. Honestly, the disregard is absoluetly inferioriting because frankly that had ruined my entire nights plans because Miles our server didn't even check up on us to see if we wanted more drinks before cashing us out.

We had a nice meal at the bar at this restaurant. The meal was taking a long time to get to us and the bartender apologized and let us know the meal was "on the house" due to the delay (it had taken 30 minutes). That was a nice gesture. The atmosphere was nice, not too noisy, and the food was very good. I would eat here again.

Lazlo's Brewery & Grill

The meal I had at Lazlo's may very well be the best meal I have ever eaten at any restaurant. The steak was was done to perfection and the green beans were excellent as was Lazlo's house salad. The local beer (a brown ale) was very tasty and dessert was also delicious. Our waitress did a great job and the pries were reasonable. We will definitely go back to Lazlo's the next time we are in Lincoln.

Somewhat Disappointed

Nice Looking Bar & Grill located in a busy part of town. The restaurant was busy but not packed and had seating at the bar as well. One busy bartender (Randi) who did a good job of taking care of everyone who sat at the bar. I ordered a $33 NY Strip steak medium well with baked beans and what they called homemade apple sauce. For you southerners, it does not look like applesauce you are familiar with but instead fried cinnamon apples that have been chilled. The baked beans and apples were really good and the steak looked appealing. Unfortunately, the steak was cooked medium rare and had no seasoning on it at all, not even salt and pepper. The steak was tender but had no flavor what so ever. I ended up getting some steak sauce to eat it. I was disappointed that I need stake sauce for a cut of meat at that cost. This was my first visit and not sure if this is normal or not for this location.

We are here at a suggestion of our hotel. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The portions were large and the Lahvosh bread was worth trying. The menu is diversified and has a Mediterranean flair that melded unique flavors that were delightful. We will stop here again for sure.

Great Service and Food

Laszlo's is a true Brew Pub with several draft beers on tap. The beer was very good. We had Prime Rib French Dip sandwiches which were very lean and tender along with delicious sweet potato fries. Also, want to give a big shout out to Ray, our server. He was fun, patient, and informative with a knack for coming up just when we wanted to ask for something. Great experience!

Oh my gosh, that's a huge Lavosh

Fair warning: the Lavosh is a large Pizza size. We thought it would be like an appetizer, but it's enough for four people easily. We ordered two for two because we wanted to try different flavors. When the pizza pan arrived, our eyes bugged out. Our server said something like, yeah, when you ordered two I wondered if I should say something. Do you think? Anyway, it made for a tasty lunch next day. Still, we wouldn't have ordered two. Another minor complaint is that the cheese sticks to the pan so it can be hard to get some of the pieces out. It's a novelty dish with novelty problems.

Flavorful Food

I was looking for something that was walkable from our hotel in the Haymarket District and was also suitable for teens in the early evening. This fit the bill. Because we were going to a concert, we had to eat dinner early. We arrived at the restaurant at 4:45. The hostess was pretty snippy (not what she said, but the way she said it) that no servers were in, so we could eat at the bar or wait 20 minutes for a table in the dining room. We chose to wait. We waited maybe five minutes and were seated, so I am glad we didn't choose the bar. The hostess' attitude is the reason I dropped a star. Our waitress was friendly. The food arrived quickly. Everything was delicious. I ordered applesauce for a side, expecting something like you'd get in a jar in the store. Instead, I had sliced apples coated in cinnamon, like what you'd find in an apple pie. My shrimp also had a good flavor. The key lime pie was excellent. We were a bit baffled by all the different people attending our table. It seemed like four or five different people waited on us, brought our food, etc. A manager grabbed our bill, which later confused the waitress. None of this was a big deal. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, with a nice atmosphere. We would eat there again.

Great food and dog friendly patio!

Excellent service! We loved that when food is ready any server brings it to the table! The food is not waiting so is served at the perfect temperature! We were traveling with a dog and had a perfect seat on the patio - street performer across the street and great people watching. AND the FOOD was nothing but spectacular! Pork sirloin had amazing flavor, prime dip was meaty and optional toppings made it perfect. The fish of the day was spectacular and the sides (steamed green beans and sweet potato fries) were flavorful. Great service!! Oh and the key lime pie was delicious!!
