My sister was in town on business and we met here for dinner. The spaghetti was delicious and filling! We loved the “crusty bread” and Parmesan cheese, too. The staff was very nice, kept our water glasses full, and offered a generous military discount to...me with my ID (thanks so much!). I first ate here probably 12 years ago and would definitely come back!More

Once you get passed the slave name the ambiance and food are incredible! Authentic Italian food with burst of flavor and spices!! Giving this 4 stars only because of its namesake!!

I don't write a lot of reviews but feel compelled to do so based on our recent experience. We were in from out of town visit relatives in Bridgeton. The suggested Massa's '- "it's been there forever!" So we called in an order for two...large pizzas and asked for suggestions for a "supreme" pizza and a 'meat lovers'. The gentleman suggested a 'build your own' pizza with 5 items. He said the pizzas would be ready in 30 minutes. When we arrived there 30 minutes we were suprised to learn that the two pizzas totaled $54. The "build your own" was $15 with another $11.50 for the rest. OK fine we thought, we should have asked when placing the order. I noticed the boxes seemed cold when I picked them up but was in a hurry and thought we can warm them up when we got to the house a few minutes later. When we opened the boxes we found totally cold pizzas. Furthermore these were thin crusted, no sauce, very sparse toppings, a cheese topping that seemed to be a mixture of cheddar and some other cheese. The taste was just awful. Defintely the worst pizza I have ever tasted. We threw it away after a few pieces. I never thought a pizza could taste bad. Anyway, I don't know what pizza tastes St. Louis has but we wished we'd gone to a take-and-bake and saved ourselves $25. One final comment - the restaurant itself was old, ding, and musty, Perhaps this is what passes as "old charm", Wish I had something positive to say, but I don't.More

Our first time here. We came in for a Monday dinner. Don't let the outside fool you...it's what is inside that counts. Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Very good food.

Old School Italian! The place is a tad bit hard to get to...it looks a little sketchy...the inside looks dated....like Italian old mob. But the food, service and feeling is absolutely quintessential Italian gold. Go back in restaurant time. It's worth every second and cent...of your time.More

This was just my second time to dine here, but I was just as pleased, as the previous visit. I dined, once again, at what their website refers to as "The Old Place", which is the Bridgeton location, near the airport, and what I presume...is the original location. The atmosphere is perfect - from the dimmed-yet-adequate lighting, and the décor which is slightly off-kilter, yet perfect. The service I received was excellent, as I would expect to receive from a 5-star restaurant. This visit, I had the Parmesan-Crusted Whitefish, with a side of Broccoli, and an Italian Side-Salad. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The side of Broccoli was the size of my hand (literally). The Italian side-salad was larger than expected, with chunks of meat and freshly-grated cheese. The portions were so plentiful that I had enough left over to supplement my lunch at the office, the next day ! Thank you, Massa's !!!More

We often stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel the night before leaving on vacation. Massa's is just around the corner. This is the original Massa's - it's small, but great food and service.(always full). You get to it off the "on-ramp" to Lindbergh. All their...food is great, but we usually get the pizza, salad and caraffe of wine. Highly recommend if in the neighberhood.More

Been going here for quite a while and chose it for our anniversary. Don't think there are any bad choices on the menu. I had the combination (spag, rav and penne) and added a couple of meatballs. Not disappointed. House merlot was very nice as...well. Server (Kaylee) was attentive but not overly so. Had to take home an order of their deep fried ravioli and marinara (kinda like dessert). Already looking forward to next visit. BTW they don't do reservations so pick your dining time with a little forethought.More

I was spending the night at a hotel nearby and decided to check this restaurant out because it got such great reviews. When you drive up the outside of the building doesn't look like much. Once you step inside it feels like you have stepped...back in time, but in a good way. Very old school Italian decor. The food was amazing, some of the best Italian I have had in a long time. I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area again.More

This is my 2nd time in St. Louis in the past 4 months. I found this gem last time hear and had to make a second stop. This time I tried the cajun pasta. Although the chicken seemed a bit overcooked, for my taste, the...pasta sauce was amazing. St. Louis as a whole has wide variety of great Italian restaurants but when your out by the airport, this is by far the best place to eat.More

Other than the wait staff (who are always very friendly & attentive - including Katie on our recent dinner visit), little has changed in the 43 years that this original Massa's location has been in business. The outside looks like it's stuck in a time...warp (with the gardener having been sucked into a black hole), as do the very tight interior spaces (at least those unchanged details you can make out in the dim lighting). But they still serve traditional "neighborhood Italian" fare that's unpretentious & flavorful. Nothing outstanding on their menu that my wife & I have tried over the years, but we always leave full & carrying enough leftovers for a meal at home the next day.More

Ok. the place is dark, and maybe a little dive-y, but the food and service are excellent. Love the salad with house dressing, the garlic cheese cheesebread is SO good, and the fettuccine alfredo has a sauce that can only be defined as silky. My...husband and I love Massa's and have been coming here for years; every single carb served here is worth it!!More

The Bridgeton Massas does not take reservations - so you may have a wait. My suggestion go early or late. Feel like a cocktail - go anytime you want because they have a bar area you relax in until your table is ready.
