Funny I was just reading some reviews and noticed one on the fish tacos.
I too have wanted to try this place as I have been coming to Minihaha Falls since I was a kid.
Alot of the things below for "could you say a little more" section are questionable during this pandemic. maybe before all this the food and outdoor seating was better.
The only way to order now is online. so we did that and I wanted to make do this review because the wait time before we placed was like 2 hours. we were starving and thought OK, once the order was placed it was more like 45 minutes, don't get that?
Anyway, husband ordered fish sandwich and I got the fish tacos. Sandwich was good for the price, fish tacos seemed like they forgot to add fish. 4 tacos and 2 pieces of fish. hard to eat, soft tacos, would not recommend.
The outdoor seating is blocked off so good luck finding a place to sit, it was busy on a week day. we did this on impulse so normally I would have brought chairs and a blanket, just a heads up.
Beverages we kind of weird, maybe there were single beers but we ended up with a $14 six pack of bend paddle.
Overall my expectations of this place were probably what disappointed me.
Its just OK, I so miss eating outside and being served at a table. sigh.....

Me and my husband tried this place during a trip to Minnehaha Falls. On our visit the restaurant offers seating on their patio only due to Covid-19. The process of queueing for a table and being seated was good and felt safe. The distance from the different tables was also good, but it would have been better if the patrons did not have to walk to the register and order by themselves (out of a covid point of view).
The patio is OK, nothing special but still good enough considering that they are working during this pandemic.
The menu offers a selection of mostly seafood. I found the menu to be a little too small, but at the same time if you do something good, than don't do too much, right? I chose the Fish Po'boy since I have heard about this dish before but never tasted it. It was a big, delicious sandwich with nicely fried fish (not too heavy). My husband chose the shrimp and he was totally ecstatic, saying that they were the best shrimp he ever had (he is not big on statements like these ordinarily). The food is served in paper take-away boxes, which was good for lunch but maybe not as nice for dinner.
The service was nice but a little slow. It took a good while to get our food to the table, but sitting outdoors in the nice weather helped with being patient. But I noticed that some other reviewers had issues with the speed aswell, which I can understand.
Anyway, if you are in the Minnehaha Falls area and looking for something, try this!

I met 3 friends at Sea Salt for dinner and wine/beer last night. Positive part was the patio tables well spaced apart. Good beer selection. Two of us ordered Grilled Mahi-Mahi Tacos. Very little fish. The third person ordered Fish Basket. He wished it included fries, otherwise no complaint. The person who ordered wine was disappointed in what appeared to be a small pour for $9.
I had been at Sea Salt 2 weeks ago with different friends. Also ordered the Grilled Mahi-Mahi Taco that night - VERY generous fish portion on that occasion, and much tastier. Four different fish items were ordered on that occasion and we were all very happy with the food. We also commented on that night on the generous wine pour. What happened?

I just finished the fish tacos and really didn't enjoy them. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time, and really heard good things about it. But the fish tacos really had very little flavor and the corn tortillas didn't add anything. I had to add the salsa to get any flavor into them. Listo's fish taco's are much better.

The last three visits have been bad. The Mahi platter was out each time. Last night the calmari were all different sizes from dime-sized to ones as large of my hand - but even worse was that some didn't have any batter on them, others were blackened and others totally undercooked. Beer is $28 a pitcher (including the service fee). The catfish po-boy I settled on was made from what look liked several scraps of stuff left over from the catfish baskets (which apparently cannot be made grilled only fried despite the supposed "made to order" service).

Such a great afternoon. Normally the line is long, but only about 10 deep today. The weather was perfect and we ordered quickly. Food was delicious. I ordered the special Shrimp Jambalaya. My only complaint is that a $14.95 dinner was served on a piece of waxed paper in a plastic container. The waxed paper started to disintegrate halfway in the meal. I ended up eating waxed Paper with my meal. They should use compostable plates for the more expensive entrees!

I just told my friend when I ate there recently that I am as satisfied with the quality of the seafood as I have been in places on either coast. As I am reading recent reviews, the quality seems to change from day to day. But I give this place and excellent review because it is a very popular, busy restaurant, the quality of the food is excellent and so is the service. I live biking distance from Sea salt and love having such a unique dining experience so close. The calamari is really only the calamairi that I will eat. Perfect and the sauce, well order extra, it's so good. I have seen these people working their butts off every day since it opened. It is very popular, thus the long wait sometimes. So go there when you are not starving and hangry or at mid afternoon.
So, I am hoping the food on the menus becomes consistent and I am forgiving as hell for any place that is surviving in this pandemic.
My friend and I shared seafood gumbo, a walleye entree and calamari tacos. So good there wer not leftovers.
Many of the dishes are served with a slice of melon. That's my only complaint. They are never ripe and another fruit item should be served.

This used to be one of my favorite places but the last two times I’ve been here I have been extremely disappointed. We got fish tacos— they were not good. Like at all. Extra fishy and no flavor. (They never used to be this awful.) We got take out and went and sat on the lawn near by, but the staff we briefly encountered were rude and snippy. Everything felt over priced, including the beers. I asked people around me how their food was, because I was concerned I was just being a Connie complainer—but they all said similar things “didn’t meet expectations” “wasn’t good” “wont come back.” I’m
Not sure if they changed owners or food supplier or what, but I’m not sure I can even have this place on my list of recommendations anymore. Yes this is COVID times, but I don’t think that’s related.

We had lunch here. The self serve restaurant is located near the Minnehaha Falls in a large and green park area. There is a large patio and it is possible to dine outside.
The menu is fresh seafood and as we visited on a sunny day we chose to enjoy our food outside. The food was very good and prices reasonable.

Purchased a fried fish poor boy sandwich, a root beer and an ice tea yesterday. My card was charged $24.00. The sandwich was $14. How much were the drinks? $5 each? They weren't even 12 oz. I'll be putting a stop payment on this charge and walking over there and giving them $14. Due to their failure to give me a receipt, the drinks will be on them. Are they automatically charging an 18% tip? For what? Standing at the counter and walking the food out in a basket? You take your own drinks. Is it taxes? This is the reason why I am getting to the point of refusing to do business in my own city.
I actually live across the street and I've been there many times with other locals, family and out of town guests.

We enjoyed an ice-cream at Sea Salt in Minnehaha Park and it was the best ice-cream I'd had in a very long time. Very creamy, good quality. It was $5 for a single scoop (June 2024) and came with a good spoon! There's lots of outdoor or sheltered seating. Bathrooms are nearby in the building in case your hands get sticky!

Such a cute little spot to stop for lunch after our hike and seeing the falls. We had the fried calamari (which was nice it didn’t seem breaded, just fried so crispy) and grilled mahi taco - both delicious and they had awesome beer and organic wine on tap. Loved this spot, sooo good

Love Sea Salt! I've been many times over the years, including during the pandemic and again recently. Some of the menu items are a little hit or miss, but the fish tacos and fish sandwiches are pretty consistently delicious. Good beer and cider selection. Prices and wait time can be steep, but it's par the course for the location and popularity. It's great to have this option right next to Minnehaha Falls.

Came here summer 2021 on a road trip from Texas. Nearly a year later my wife and I reminisce on how much we loved spending the afternoon here. The food and ice cream were excellent and the Jazz player out front was so fun for our three year old to listen to. This is a must do for is anytime we come back.

Tried and enjoyed the red beans and rice. Menu heavily tilted toward fish. Wish here were much chicken options. Lots of beer options.
located 30 seconds from Minnehaha Falls. (See picture - it had rained recently and lots o water going over the falls.
It's slightly better than a 3.
