We went on a Wednesday night in June and they weren't busy at all. Our server, Kelly, was fantastic. She was super attentive and went above and beyond. One thing I noticed is that it is actually cheaper to get a dinner entree than a burger and fries. With the dinners, 3 sides and a dinner roll are included. If you want fries or a salad with a sandwich, it's an extra charge. They also have really good desserts.

An outstanding family style restaurant worth s side trip

We were in the area for a wedding. The dinner the first night we went was so excellent we took family members on later days for breakfasts and a lunch. Home cooking to order - they. warn if it will take time to cook - and very large portions for modest prices.

Breakfast heaven

While staying in Gladstone, people recommended to stop here on our way home. Sadly, they didn't tell us about the amazingness here or we would have made room for their luxurious homemade cinnamon rolls. The food was amazing. Amazing isn't a word that even fully describes how much I loved this food. I packed it up, got home, ate the rest for breakfast the next morning. I just wish they sold their homemade bread to where we could take it home. Maybe they do, but it was not an option the Sunday we were there.

What a FIND!

Small town restaurant with just like home food. The rolls were to die for, the homemade potato chips were delicious, the tomato basil soup was extremely good. Can't say enough. Dinners come with THREE sides. My husband and I left completely stuffed. Be sure to stop.

Delicious 5-star Lunch

Just had a five-star lunch at Jack’s in Rapid River. My hot roast beef sandwich was delicious & was a mammoth serving! My husband’s corned beef hash and eggs (served with sourdough toast) was also a very generous serving and equally delicious. Service was cheerful, prompt and courteous. The coffee was strong & black. I’ve been eating here since I was a kid, & it never disappoints.

Great Little Lunch Spot

We stopped here for lunch as we were passing through Rapid River. We all enjoyed our meals, though I think the burgers were the most impressive- huge and piled high with ingredients. There isn’t a whole lot of atmosphere, but it certainly serves the purpose- good food, plentry to eat, and good service. It’s worth a stop!

Great Comfort Food Lunch

My sister and I just had a wonderful “comfort food” lunch at Jack’s. We ordered the special lunch bowl that was layered with mashed potatoes, corn, fried chicken pieces, grated cheese and gravy. Total comfort food, it was delicious. Our service was prompt & cheerful.

Very good food and service.

A casual family restaurant with very pleasant and attentive staff. Our food was very good and served nice and hot. The other diners all appeared to be enjoying their food, and especially the cinnamon and pecan rolls. We had to pass on the rolls having too much to eat already. A very good stop along route 2 in Michigan's Upper Penninsula.

WHAT A SURPRISE!

We were driving home from a lovely week in Michigan and looking for a place to have breakfast, when we came to the small town of Rapid River, MI. We spotted a large sign on an old brick building, “JACK’S RESTAURANT “ and decided to try it for our last vacation breakfast. Boy, was that a great decision! It was the best breakfast we’ve had out in years! We ordered our beverage….coffee for myself (excellent), and milk (at least a 10-12 oz glass) for my husband. He was shocked! He ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns and Toast. The bacon was 2 huge, thick pieces that had a delicious flavor, the eggs cooked perfectly and a large batch of very fresh hash browns. He was very pleased to say the least. I was just as pleased with my pancakes (large, flavorful, & tender) egg and that delicious bacon! I definitely recommend this cute little restaurant!

Amazing!

Absolutely fabulous hash browns! The coffee is first rate and the food is delicious. Our service has been stellar every time we have been in. The homemade cinnamon rolls are heaven! I've heard the burgers are excellent so we are making plans for a dinner trip!

Great Lunch

Came here for lunch at the recommendation of the owner of Hall Sunflower Farm. We stopped there first and were headed to Kitchikipi. Had a great lunch. My whitefish sandwich & homemade chips were awesome. My husband had a burger which he enjoyed as well.

We used to go here as children some 40+ years ago during our visits to our grandmas. Same look and feel, home-cooked meals, simple but good.Friendly service and good portion sizes. We can recommend.

A great diner at the intersection of US Highway's 2 & 41, Jack's provides for a timely stop. The chili is fantastic, an with the experienced service, this establishment is a sure bet.

Poor Dinner at Jack’s

I’ve been dining at Jack’s for decades; it’s been a favorite of my family for generations. We had a poor meal there this evening, as much as it pains me to write this review I hope it will help correct what we experienced. First, and most importantly, 3 of the 4 members of our group experienced rather severe GI issues after dining there, ugh! We all ordered fish fries. Only 2 dinner rolls were served to our group of 4, so we shared, they were very good. Our meals started out well, with salads & coleslaw that were fresh and tasty. The perch fish fries were not good, however. The fish was wayyyy overcooked, down to the consistency of a cracker, with too much breading. My whitefish was good, as was my baked potato, although it was soggy. I brought home a slice of blueberry pie. I only ate the filling, as the crust was tough and soggy. My family has been dining at Jack’s for generations. I hope they can correct things, although we don’t know if we’ll go back. We all commented that if our first meal there had been like tonight’s, we would never have gone back!

Home Cooked Meal = Yum!

Delicious home style meal! I had the hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was DELICIOUS!! They have Crispies which are homemade potato chips which were a hit with my kids!
