We went on an impromptu date night to a nice Italian restaurant, Nino’s, on the south end of Bay City. We don’t get over to Nino’s as often as we would should and that is a mistake because the meal was fantastic! My wife had the veal special, and I had the linguine with red clam sauce both were recommended to us by the chef who greeted us at the table. The meals exceeded both of our expectations. Thanks Nino’s for a wonderful night out! So glad we decided to spend the time out together!

I love this restaurant. They have a huge variety of pastas with your choice of traditional and unique sauces and toppings. The mushroom pesto was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten ! The bruschetta and stuffed mushroom appetizer are very good. Their bread and garlic bread that comes with the meal is also some of the best I’ve ever had. The house salad that comes with the meal was simple and fresh and reminds me of the salad at Mario’s in Detroit. Everything ( a lot of choices) is homemade and I don’t know how they do it ! I even love the names of the cocktails, the godfather and godmother. The wine selection is very good and so reasonably priced as is everything else. It is amazing that they are open five days a week and I love that they are open on days when some places are closed. The “ Bay Area” needs to rediscover this hidden gem!

Had a disappointing dinner at Nino’s tonight. It began well with a fresh salad with homemade Italian dressing which was very enjoyable. I ordered the Veal Scallopini. It came to the table with a 5 to 6 oz portion, no pasta and very little sauce with some broccoli and cut up baked potatoes on the plate. This entree at dinner is $24. I felt that I got a luncheon portion and very light at that…..very disappointing. They had the ability to serve a quality meal but simply dropped the ball.

We were looking for an Italian restaurant near Frankenmuth while we stayed for a couple of days. The menu was large but had the items my family wanted. Reservations were suggested but clearly not needed on this Saturday night. When we sat it was clear the waitress wasn't familiar with the menu, they ran out of milk of all things, the lobster bisque had the look and consistency of baby food. We couldn't eat it. Tails were left on the shrimp in a shrimp scampi dinner. Another reviewer said the veal in the veal parmesan wasn't breaded. It was --and overdone. Sauces and pasta were good as were the cheese sticks. Very disappointed. Won't be back.

We eat out all the time. Can't think of a worse dining experience in memory. Our table of six wasn't even acknowledged for 15 minutes after we sat down. The service was pathetic, and the food absolutely horrible. My wife has a hearty stomach and said after eating, "I feel like throwing up." Do yourself a favor and go to the Rally's down the road. This place sucks. They don't deserve to be in business.

Our waiter was awesome, told us he used to work as Jack Sparrow at Disney so that in itself was a rare experience. Our food was exemplary! You can tell they put time and effort into each dish and finished them with pride. My fiancé got the Tuscan chicken and I had the shrimp ravioli, overall great experience and would love to come back!

Loved this restaurant. It’s a step back in time to classic Italian! The music, murals on the wall and overall ambiance were so special. The garlic bread, salad, pasta and tiramisu were amazing. Attentive service too! I would pick this as a destination if ever in the Bay City area. Thanks for an experience!

We moved to Michigan from Connecticut about 5 years ago and just found out about Ninos a year ago and have eaten Italian food a few times there and it has always been a great experience! We have tried many of the areas pizza joints and were pretty much convinced that we were better off just eating frozen pizzas conpared to the 20 to 30 places that we tried! So last Thursday we decided to go to Ninos and try their pizza all I can say is that its the best pizza we have had to date in the area by a long shot! My real test of their pizza was the crust which was great! This is now the only place in the area I will go to for pizza until someone changes my mind! Dont go here expecting fast service because they make everything from scratch but the food is great and so is the staff!

Better than expected. We were nervous after reading reviews, but I think the restaurant industry took a huge hit and to run without staff isn’t a fun task! Our experience was great!

Today I took my grandfather and family out for Father’s Day. We get there, seemingly new waiter, nice kid, awkward whatever, he takes the order and we wait for our food. Gets our salads, I didn’t ask for a salad but got one anyways, oh well. Then our food starts coming out, we get our food 1 or 2 dishes at a time. It finally gets to a point where my grandmother has not received her food as all the rest of us are eating. We waited, and waited and waited. Seemingly like the waiter and staff were avoiding us. We finally finished and my grandma had not gotten her food yet. We waited another 20 minutes, no food. We were all very upset and irritable at this point. So we waved down the owner and asked for her food to go. We got it in the box. Asked for a split check, it was on one. And the owner told us she would take my grandmothers food off of the bill. She took 10% off of ONLY my grandmothers bill. Not the ENITRE BILL ONLY hers. Saving us $1.60. We still ended up paying $100. I can safely say I will not be returning and anyone who asks me if it is a good place I will not be recommending.

Last Sunday my family and I took my Mom and grandmother to Nino's in Bay City for Mother's Day Dinner. In the past with the previous owners 2 of my Siblings were servers there. We haven't been there since the new owner took over. There were 11 of us. Our reservations were for 6:30. We received our dishes randomly 1 or 2 at a time. We were all done eating by the time My Dad and our Son finally got their dishes. Apparently the cook had burnt them and had to start over. Frankly 1 1/2 hours for a kids pizza seemed along time to me. My Dads meal still was wrong and missing his pasta to go with his veal parm but he ate it and didn't say anything. The pizza finally got there and he took 1 slice. Then my daughter asked what is this on the pizza stand. Is it Honey?? We looked over and their was a sticky Rat trap on the pizza pan. We about had a stroke. Rushed her to wash her hands and the waiter ...who was mortified quickly grabbed the pan and went to the back. The owner did come out to tell us it must have been there from last summer. Wth....you haven't washed shelves or pizza stands since last summer??? And why are there traps where the food service dishes are. Were mice running on our plates? Her offer was 10% off the bill. 10% wth. Our bill was 250 and that was the best you could do. Then the cook came out. Thinking she was there to apologize but no she was just there to brag about what an awesome job she did. What a joke. I didn't want to make a scene with my 85 year old grandmother and Mother there so we paid and left. I called the next day and talked to a manager who definitly felt we should have been compensated more and would have the owner call us backus said she was a new owner and doesn't know how to handle things like this yet. Well it's been a week....No calls No response....Nothing. I am just appalled by her actions. I have talked to a couple other restaurant owners in town who said they would have comped the whole meal plus offered a gift card. But from Nino's not a word. We will not be back!

I had heard and read previous reviews that the food was average with slow service. That was not the case for myself or our group. My friends and I had reservations and were promptly seated with drinks also being served in a timely fashion. The menu is extensive. The old world atmosphere is dimly lit with numerous empty Chianti bottles signed from prior special occasions adorning the wall and ceilings along with classic Italian music playing in the background. My friends and I got assorted entrees including caprese, pizza and carbonara which they said were very good to excellent. I thought garlic bread was ordinary along with the slightly wilted salad. My dinner was the veal and spinach cannelloni which was superb. The owner even stopped by the table to inquire on the service and food quality. flat top/booth/bar seating with cloth napkins. Lot and street parking. Seasonal establishment with dinner hours only. Pricey food but it was a nice experience.

The food was at best average. I actually had to salt my pasta because there was little to no seasoning. (I had the garlic & olive oil sauce with mushrooms.) Even the “homemade” salad dressing was extremely bland. Personally, I felt that the prices were too high for the average food received.
