This was our very first visit to a Michelin rated restaurant and it didn't disappoint. At the last minute we switched to the Lobster meal (for two) and were blown away from the first course. Every course was unique, including the palate cleansing bites. The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke great English. We had a lovely bottle of wine at the Chef's recommendation and delighted in every drop. Fair warning, we dined for nearly 5 hours, not typically an American style. But it was a great way to sit with my lovely bride and discuss the day and the meal. It was most excellent as expected.

I have been enjoying great restaurants in France and abroad for decades from Zaiyu Hasegawa in Tokyo to Alain Passard, from Gaggan in Bangkok to Guy Savoy or from Manish Mehrotra in Delhi to Gilles Goujon (just to namedrop a few and back up the comparaison for Julien Médard). Let me put it this way, Maison Médard does not deserve its one star. Instead it deserves 3 star, a rank in La Liste, OAD and San Pellegrino World 50! Honestly, it’s that good. The location is not as accessible as most of the famous restaurants listed above but that’s part of the fun. Why stay in Paris if you visit France? Take this opportunity to visit the Loire Valley and stop over in Sancerre, Pouilly, maybe Saint Amand for its potteries and have lunch - or dinner - at Maison Médard. Talking of potteries, the dishes and cutlery are all extremely exquisite. And that surely enhances the food experience. Go for the Flânerie menu. At 8 dishes it is very reasonably priced and paced. Service is efficient, friendly but discreet. Portions are just about right and you leave the table being satisfied (not blotted and surely not hungry neither). Go to dishes? The ‘Œufs Mimosa’ (Deviled Eggs) revisited were a highlight. So was the ‘Caviar de Sologne’. And the dessert ‘Les Agrumes de Baches’ was to die for. They called it Vacherin inspired but it reminded be a bit of Peter Gilmore’s revisit of the Australian classic Pavlova at Bennelong at the Sydney Opera House. And I should not forget the butter test!!! One of my main criteria to judge a restaurant is its butter. And it surely delivered with three excellent butters accompanied by perfect French Bread. One thing, I am unsure how they cope with English as I did not test that… I am not sure they have an English version of the menu neither. Most of the patrons were apparently locals from Burgundy as they are not yet on the World Food trail map (which is a good thing as you can enjoy this restaurant as a well kept secret) This review may be a bit long, but this restaurant deserves proper accolades.

We enjoyed an exceptional meal. We had a five course tasting menu with wine added to each dish. My only complaint was one of the wines was oxidized. Obviously opened several days before. When I pointed it out to the Sommelier he seemed indifferent and suggested it was just vintage variation. I decided to let the matter die but there is no doubt in my mind that the wine was off and not due to the vintage. Other than that the experience was fantastic.

All was excellent and very tasty. If there is one thing to improve is to reduce the salt for some dishes but nothing major. Great menu for cheese lovers as very present in the menu. Wine was also great. All is set at a very good price We look forward going again soon

We visited Maison Medard last Saturday after booking 6 months ago. It was well worth the wait. We were greeted by Julien and Delphine on arrival and entered their beautiful restaurant. We opted for the Strolling menu with wine flight and are very glad we did. The menu says 8 courses but this does not do them justice as there are various hors d’oeuvres before you start, not forgetting the different breads and butters. A special mention goes to Les Volailles du Moulin an absolute triumph of an egg dish. One of our number dislikes eggs but ate it all! We were also greatly impressed with the Sommelier who comprehensively took us through each wine explaining its origins and why it worked so well with each course. A big thank you to the whole team at Maison Medard for a wonderful evening https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g4181095-d7312781-r957771168-Maison_Medard-Boulleret_Cher_Berry_Centre_Val_de_Loire.html#

Having read positive reviews from Michelin and online elsewhere, we come with some expectation. It exceeds our expectation with both the service, food quality and the atmosphere. We are welcome with multiple amuse bouse in an open air courtyard dining area. The entrees and main courses are all high quality in presentation and taste. Will recommend for anyone visiting Sancerre region who is also looking for high quality restaurant.

We had the degustion du chef and had no idea of the treats to come. We were welcomed to a table despite having no reservation and being dressed in camping gear. The courses kept coming - a little delicious taste of fish or pate, a tiny pot of soup with an assortment of tiny bread rolls and twists, a carpaccio of beef filled with pureed avocado, my main was a rissole of no ordinary standard stuffed with mushrooms and in a wine joue, Arthur's main was fish on a croute with little tastes of vegetable puree and again a super sauce - in between courses came delightful tastes - little jellied squares, and a lime sorbet (my french was not up to understanding what they all were!). The carafe of wine was good and the dessert to die for. What a treat and a lovely evening in this small village.

Suggested by a friend several months ago, since then it became "THE place to go". Delphine and Julien are young, motivated and determined, and they succeed in so many levels, starting from their humble yet perfect approach towards their guests, the ambiance, decor, and I haven't even mentioned the food yet, which is absolutely outstanding! Amazing use of the refined and delicate French cuisine, supporting local businesses by using their produce, exciting pairing of seasonal produce, and perfect wine list! Although the little village of Boulleret is not the most interesting place in the area, this restaurant is a true GEM and it's worth a visit even from significant distance! Chapeau bas for what these two amazing people created from an old pizzeria :-)

Recommended by the owner of the gite we stayed at, just outside Sancerre, as an up and coming restaurant. We had the degustation du chef and it was outstanding. Lovely white stone building in a little village with a wonderful courtyard terrace. On a par with 1 star restaurants. One of best two restaurants in a week in the Loire valley.

Everything from the kir to the apperitifs to the dinner to the dessert was great. We chose the gastronomy de chef with 6 courses each one a perfect microcosm of flavors and presentation. Don't hesitate to try the wine offered in carafe; we were not disappointed. If you have the chance stop here!
