This was actually my 2nd visit to The Inn on Shipyard Park. I had first visited it about a month ago when I had friends staying on the Cape, and we were looking for someplace about equidistant from their hotel and my home in Rhode...Island. I remember we sat on the screened in porch and had a leisurely lunch with no one rushing us (but still paying attention to us). So I went back today with my husband, and while it was a little too chilly to sit outside, we sat inside and the service and attitude were exactly the same. Plus the food was of the same high caliber as before.More

The Inn On Shipyard Park is located in an historic facility right on the waterfront at Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. At one time in it's history it was the oldest continuously operated waterfront inn in the nation. We have dined there several times, had a good experience...each time over the years. Last time we dined out on the porch. It was a perfect early fall in New England day. Our server was excellent describing the many interesting menu options and drinks. My wife had a Cosmopolitan and I ordered a Southern Comfort Manhattan, both arrived in short order, both were delicious. I ordered a Build a Burger for lunch and my wife had the California Turkey BLT. After a reasonable amount of time we were dinging on our delicious choices. This experience could not have been better. we have dined inside, also at the bar, and the porch. We like the porch bet as you get a water view and can watch the walkers, bikers and others on the very historic street. We highly recommend this place.More

Our server was nice although she never gave her name. The food took about 40 minutes and the haddock burrito had a teaspoon of fish with 12 tablespoons of dry white rice. The manager/owner had zero customer service skills. Offered no substitute. We had been...told that the kitchen was backed up, therefore where was the expeditor when my meal was sent out. I will not return.More

Loved the Inn! Even in a pandemic this place exudes old New England coastal charm. From the super friendly and attentive staff to the excellent food and perfectly prepared drinks we had an outstanding visit. One of the best Dark & Stormy's I'd ever had!...Fried Seafood platter and clam chowder were very good... And if you like crunchy shoe string french fries you'll want a second order! We will be back for sure!More

Went here for the first time....was not happy with any of our meals. I had the baked haddock. It had no flavor at all. Came with jasmine rice and carrots - also no flavor and very disappointing. My friend had the baked stuffed haddock. She...said also no flavor. My husband had the Reuben - he said it was just OK. The restaurant itself is very quaint, and the service was good. We did notice how everyone around us was eating the fish tacos.....so that must be the thing to get there. We will give it another try in the hopes that it was just not a good night.More

Love the Inn. Food is great. Try the lobster salad sandwich /lobster roll if they have it on special. Outdoor deck and bar area are perfect in the summer. Rooms upstairs work great as well. Clean, inexpensive and easy to book. Thanks for putting a...bigger TV in at the end of the bar. Eyes are not as good as they once were. All bartenders are awesome and dancing in Mattapoisett who knew.More

I had high hopes when I made a reservation at the Inn for dinner on a Saturday night. I called early in the week and reserved a table for two in the blue room which is more elegant than the tavern. I received a call...the day of the reservation and was told a large party booked the blue room and was asked if I would it would be okay to be seated in the tavern. I was clearly bumped and not happy about it but felt I didn’t have much choice. This was a birthday celebration. On the positive side we had an excellent waitress, the shared salad was very good and the carrot cake for dessert was excellent. Both my husband and I ordered the lamb shank for $28 each, an item only offered at dinner. The lamb had clearly been cooked perhaps says ahead, it was fatty, tough and very unappealing. The mashed potatoes and root vegetables were very satisfying. With 2 glasses of wine our bill totaled $97 and change...way overpriced for mediocrity. I won’t be in a hurry to return.More

We were able to sit on the small screened-in-porch on a Monday late afternoon on Aug. 26. The waitress was great and our Cobb salad was delicious. The coup d’etat was the flauta for dessert - more than enough for 2 which was good since...the cost was $10. Presentation of food at other tables was excellent. Reading other reviews, it seems that renovation is in order for this property which has a beautiful view of the harbor. My husband found the men’s bathroom unusable. The menu prices are reasonable now. I’m sure with renovation they would escalate.More

Very disappointing, meals were over priced. I ordered fish and chips and they were dry and not much taste. Hope they make a go of it.

Have to admit the location is five stars, and the service was excellent, but the food average at best. Stopped in for a late lunch on a cold January afternoon. Loved that the sun was shinning bright and this quaint Inn was across from the...glistening Harbor. Couldn't help but think how beautiful it would be with cocktails on the porch during July. Our Waitress was great, she knew the menu and was very attentive. The problem was the mediocre food. Kettles will run you $9.00 each, Buffalo Wings $11.00. Good size portion and delivered well done as requested, just nothing special about them. Cobb Salad was a Cobb Salad...but the Carne Asada Bowl $18.00 was a huge disappointment...Kept thinking how it could have been elevated from bland to amazing with just a couple of tweaks...it was just bland, no oomph and that made me very sad. Location GREAT, Waitress, Great, Food not so much...Will not be returning...More

Something tells me you have a bad time at many places. You don't seem like the type that goes into restaurants with a good attitude and, unsurprisingly, that attitude probably prohibits servers and bartenders from taking... More
