Third time going to Turn House and waited this this time to write the review because I really wanted it to be better & kept hoping I just caught them on two very mediocre days. Short version - great location and when the weather permits...their outdoor dining had great views over the gold course and there just arent many options in Columbia for that. Most outdoor dining you are facing a parking lot or a street with card going by so nice to have this on the golf course. That said, the menu is just really uninspired, and TBH for what you get the prices are out of line expensive. Slice of swiss & prov cheese: 30 cents 8 oz of beef broth: 35 cents Part of a chopped onion 20 cents 1 piece of soggy bread 15 cents Waiting 10 minutes for your waiter to finally acknowledge you are sitting there, and in need of service, even after walking by us 4 times to work on the other two tables right beside us? PRICELESS, or, $12.00 for the French Onion Soup. $12-Dollars. Twelve$. Twelve Dollars. Yes, $12.00 Or 2 eggs with toast and bacon, frozen (or if not, poorly prepared) 'potatoes' for $16.00 The whole menu is just UNINSPIRED and BORING. The staff was friendly enough this time, but of the three times total we have been here, the last two times we actually had to get up and ask the host if we could get service, and that was after waiting almost 12 minutes the first time, and 10 minutes today. Quiche was dry, not at all a custard-style. Omelet $17.00, well they didn't mess it up but again not inspired or memorial in any way, and for the $2.00 worth of ingredients (maybe- and I DO work in the restaurant industry, and that's why I'm quoting ingredient costs here) just not all all worth it and only makes me mad that we actually paid so much for something that was just so average to weak. I hate giving poor reviews and honestly I almost went with 2.0 but I didnt because it does seem the staff are trying once you get them to acknowledge, and the view lifts the whole ship 1 start just for overall experience. If they could get a chef with some inspiration and exciting items for their menu, this could be one of the best restaurant experiences in Columbia. But sadly, as it stands, today, there are so many other and better options. And my motto is: Life's too short for bad food. Or mediocre.More
