My friend and I were looking forward to some good food and drinks. When we walked in the place smelled like sewage, and we had our masks on even. Gross. We turned around and walked out.

Got the steak Burrito. It was not good and expensive. This place is kinda nuts. I don't know were they get off with their prices. If the food was good I could understand. I will not go back.
Cute exterior - promises an authentic Mexican experience. The website too - some very effective (trick) photography. I REALLY wanted to like this place. The chains get so boring and predictable - I always root for an independent trying to make a go of it....But, come on. There’s more cheap diner fare than Mexican. My wife had a chicken quesadilla that seemed to have chicken, cheese, and nothing else. An eight year old could have made it. I had shrimp fajitas. I don’t eat meat or dairy, and this was the only seafood of any kind offered. Vegans will be stranded, too. (I don’t slight them for this - my dietary needs are often difficult to meet.) The shrimps were tasty, though not peeled - making it a challenge in fajitas. As I said, we wanted to like this place, but we will not go back.More
I saw the sign along I-270 enroute to Pennsylvania. Being only modestly hungry I thought a sandwich and a pastry sounded good. The restaurant is straight through the intersection with MD 109. I mention this because the signage outside strongly suggests Mexican. The parking lot...signs reference Hyattsville Cafe and the door lettering indicates Denise’s Bakery and Cafe. Hmmmm?? You can get breakfast any time of day. A sign on the wall implies the owners are from El Salvador. The menu is a mish-mash of American standards and Hispanic. There is a pastry case at the far end of seating area. Despite a sign to the contrary, the restrooms are not locked. I got a steak taco which was delicious and an empanada di leche which was stale and dry. The restaurant was quite busy although I thought the prices were high. Average rating because it will appeal to some but not to others.More
Nice quiet place,I usually get the empanadas and tacos which are very good and taste like home cooking.
This is a popular quick stop for lunch that we chanced upon on our way to the Renn Fest. Service was good and food was inexpensive, but not exceptional. I enjoyed my breakfast burrito and my husband liked his tacos. The kids ate chicken nuggets...and a cheeseburger which were definitely an improvement over fast food which were our other options. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but it definitely served it's purpose and the guy behind the counter provided great service.More
This is a small Mom and Pop place with fresh made food in the heart of Hyattstown, MD. Homemade pastries, good sandwiches, great breakfast. You can eat in or carry out. Homey, not glitzy, plenty of parking.
My son and I stopped for a quick lunch. Place is clean, Food is great and they are very friendly. Best stake burrito i have ever had. And their cinnamon swirl is so delicious
I've passed by this little café/deli looking restaurant many times, always tempted to stop but the exterior is what always prompted me to keep going. I'm really glad today I decided to not judge by the outside and take a chance. The restaurant is small...and old but the floor, tables and kitchen were clean and the gentleman that took our order was so very nice. I ordered bean and cheese pupusas for myself and pancakes for my son. The food was very good and it was really nice to sit back and just enjoy being out for lunch without a ton of hustle and bustle about. It was quiet and the atmosphere friendly. Exactly what I wanted. We will definitely go back again!More
This is our very local go to place for ordering (and eating) their very delicious pupusas - often times, we will call in an order of anywhere from 12 - 36 of them, maybe even more and they can have them ready for us in...about 30 minutes or so. Not the most appealing in the looks department decor wise, both inside and out, but the food more than makes up for it. We have eaten breakfast there several times and the portions are generous as well. The Sausage is a little different than what one might be accustomed to eating in most places, but it did have a good taste according to my spouse. Both the Atol de Elote as well as the Tamal de Elote are very delicious -cannot tell how many times I walked out of there with a large Atol de Elote in my hand - piping hot and sweet!. Their macaroons are a very interesting coconut based dessert in addition and well worth trying.More
Living in El Salvador gave me a taste for atol de elote (corn chowder), tamales and pupusas. I found all these items at Denise's at good prices. The atoll de elote was smooth, the chicken tamale was moist and the pork/cheese pupusa was light. This...made for an ideal lunch for me after shopping at the new outlet Mall. My husband, who does not know Salvadoran cuisine, ordered home made chili. I now want to return for a typical Salvadoran breakfast some day when I am really hungry. Don't expect fine décor.More
I stopped by here and had to say the outside didn't look very appealing but the food was delicious! I had a steak and cheese sandwich and very much enjoyed it. They serve perfect portions and are very reasonable. This is a must stop if...your in the area!More
Food was excellent. The place doesn't look impressive but the food is homemade and delicious. I had the steak and cheese sub with homemade fries. I cleaned my plate...
Definitely a good find. We stopped in passing through and gave it a shot. The place is a bit run down but the food and service were on point. The Mexican food is legit, I had the Carne Asada. My girlfriend had the Ruben and...was not disappointed. Its definitely greasy goodness!More
This is a mom and pop business. The tacos are awesome and the pupusas are even better. Prices are reasonable and service is good. What else can you ask for? This place is 5 stars for me.
