As a long-time patron and ardent evangelist of Beans in the Belfrey, I was shocked to find anything other than 5-star reviews in this page, so I had weigh in. My family of 7 (5 young kids) frequent BnB in the weekend, driving 45 minutes...from Northern VA because, simply put, it’s worth the trip. The atmosphere is completely unique. This church-turned-cafe/lounge/restaurant is beautiful, peaceful, warm… I’ll try to limit the superlatives lest this become a sermon (pun intended). The flexible seating and belfrey access is perfect for families with younger kids who want to enjoy great food without being confined to a 3x5 table for an hour. Speaking of the food, it’s really good - the coffees too (we prefer the mocha and iced latte). Without exaggeration, the words “Mmm,” “so good,” and “yum” are invoked numerous times throughout the meal. Have you ever seen the dinner seen from the movie What About Bob? It’s like that. I’ve tried to find other, closer places to visit. In fact, that’s what I was doing when I came upon this page, and paused to write this review. But as far as I can tell there aren’t “other places” like BnB around here (the Ace Hotel cafe in NYC is comparable), so that’s where I’ll be going when I finish this review. The breakfast croissant is calling to me. PS - Everything is good, but I recommend the… - Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant - Biscuit and gravy - Oatmeal (somehow it’s better than normal oatmeal) - Coffee cake - Muffins (warmed up) - Hot mocha - Iced vanilla latteMore
