We were in Gonzales this week for a family funeral. My husband & I stayed at Clarion Inn which is also the location of Mike Anderson's Seafood. Late afternoon Mon, following the funeral service, we enjoyed a delicious meal in this wonderful restaurant. Conner was our server, & he was very friendly, polite & professional. We didn't have to ask for anything, as he checked back with us several times & even brought drink refills without being asked to do so. My husband ordered grilled chicken breast w/grilled veggies. The entree was two large pieces of chicken, more than he could eat. He has dietary restrictions, so was unable to eat the romaine salad, but Conner brought him a bowl of cherry tomatoes instead. I ordered Shrimp Norman which was very delicious. The etoufee' contained lots of crabmeat & the six shrimp were truly jumbo. The pewter salad bowl was super chilled which was a nice touch. I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant & Conner's skill as a server. We were too full to enjoy dessert, but ordered a piece of strawberry cheesecake to take back to our hotel room. It was huge, & included fresh fruit plus a strawberry sauce. A delicious ending to a very nice meal.

We went for a late lunch. Seated right away. I wanted Crab Cakes but they are not on the lunch menu, but J D our server was able to get them made for me. Spouse had the Fried Shrimp from the lunch menu. Everything was delicious. JD Thanks for great service.

We visited earlier today for lunch and sat in the bar due to the waitlist. The food was *excellent* as was the service. We had stuffed mushrooms, chargrilled oysters, fried oysters, and the Joliet Rouge (black drum with lump crabmeat and mushrooms). Thank you to Michael, the lovely young blonde lady with the glasses behind the bar, and Vonda, our friendly vivacious server, who both provided us with a great experience. (Sorry, but I didn't catch the name of the gentleman who prepared the chargrilled oysters..... but they were *outstanding*, sir!)

We arrived at 11:00 and were quickly seated. I ordered grill shrimp with veggies and salad. The salad consisted of cheap shredded lettuce with a few shoestring cut carrots. The lunch plate was five medium size grilled shrimp served room temperature with mixed vegetables which looked to be warmed from a frozen bag of vegetables. The hushpuppies were bland with no green onion other additions to make for a tasty hushpuppy. The server was attentive and pleasant. The meal was not worth the $$ cost.

My wife and I were spending the night at the Clarion Hotel and decided to give Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant a try. We are so happy that we did. We were seated promptly and ordered two local beers and an appetizer. The beers were forgettable (no one comes to Louisiana for the beer), but the food was incredible! We loved the Bon Temps Bread appetizer (cheesy, garlicy, and full of great seasonings). We ordered the Southern Louisiana Combo and a second seafood assortment (I cannot remember its name); together, we were able to sample a variety of crab-stuffed shrimp, white fish, and various shellfish, along with hush puppies and potatoes, all prepared the Louisiana way. Every item was delicious and filling. Stacy was our waitress, and she gave us such warm and personable Louisiana service. In fact, she gave us great recommendations both in the restaurant and for the following day after we mentioned to her our travel plans. If we ever find ourselves on Highway 10 in the future, we will definitely stay at the Clarion Hotel and eat at Mike Anderson's Seafood Restaurant.

As I was travelling home back to Texas we overtired in Gonzales. So glad we did This place is simply awesome. I had the stuffed crab which you cant find in my hometown. The stuffing was delicious and they battered and fried the whole crab . The breading alone was excellent. As a lover of all cajun food we also got some red beans and rice which was the best I ever had. You dont even need the rice as the beans and sausage were in a thick sauce which you could actually eat with a fork. The rest of the family had Gumbo and pasta with crawfish All equally great. If you come through this town you have to stop. I will be back

I eat at Mike Anderson's often. I sit at the bar and enjoy the great service from the great bar staff such as Tasha and Dallas. My recent visit involved a hostile patron who made untrue and disrespectful statements about a bar staff. Several of us stood up for the bar staff since it was evident that the patron was only there to cause trouble. If you are looking for a good meal and drinks in a very relaxed environment, with exceptional service, Mike Anderson's is the place you should visit. Thank you Tasha and Dallas for always making me feel welcomed.

We always love the seafood and cajun dishes at Mike Anderson's. My wife loves the shrimp norman especially. The wait was fairly long due to a large crowd on a Wednesday evening. A visit to the bar was well worth the wait.

We were coming back from the Natchitoches Christmas festival and wanted to stop for a late lunch. We went to the bathroom, and my wife came out first. The Hostess sat my wife in the back where there is no TV. I asked the hostess if we could sit at a table where we could see the TV because the Saints were playing. She said I'll go ask your wife If it's OK to move y'all. A couple of minutes later, she came back with my wife and sat us by the TV. The waiter came up to us and got our drinks. He then took our order, and he asked my wife about her salad. My wife doesn't eat everything, and she just wanted a bowl of plain lettuce with oil and vinegar. The waiter said ok it will be right up. A couple of minutes later, she had her salad. She got her shrimp platter, and I got crabmeat augratin, and they were both delicious. Due to a recent operation, I could not eat all of mine. The waiter brought us to go plates and asked us if we wanted dessert. We said no and he brought us our check. The waiter, hostess, and food were all exceptional.

We arrived for a late lunch. There were only a few patrons in the restaurant, so we were seated quickly. There were two couples in our party and each person ordered something different. Each dish was outstanding. We ordered coffee and dessert. The coffee was lukewarm so we requested it be warmed. It was interesting that they returned our warmed coffee in the same cups. The restaurant is nothing fancy but the food and service were exceptional.

This is probably the best place to eat in Gonzales. It is located at a Clarion Hotel (separate entrance). We made reservations but people were waiting as we left. This is obviously a very-well run restaurant. The service was attentive and efficient. It was nice to see management walking through and stopping at tables and engaging with diners. There are lots of good choices here and all the portions are very generous. The onion rings are standouts. While we didn’t get dessert the table next to ours had the lemonade pie which looked like a good choice after a rich seafood meal. Highly recommended and good for social occasions.

I alway stay at the Clarion that is an awesome motel and have dinner at Mike’s every night I’m in the area. Hats off to the employees and management for doing such a great job. Best shrimp ever and never ate a simple plate of French fries that tasted so good. Steaks are to die for and so is everything else. Always consistent that’s what sets them apart......

We ate lunch here passing through and it was an excellent choice. They have daily lunch specials and a lunch menu. I had the daily special of crab and shrimp cakes which were wonderful! Their oven was broken so I couldn’t order a twice baked potato or crab au gratin which I was hoping for because they were my favorites. Fun fact we use to have one in Shreveport years ago so I was excited to eat here again and it was just as I remembered! Everyone else’s meals were great as well. Hope to order some of my favorites next time!

What a culinary experience for southern food! Started with charbroiled oysters and bontemp bread - amazingly good! Crawfish Seven Ways, drum fish, etc. every dish was exceptional. And Gisela took great care of us with explanations and service … she had us laughing! Highly recommend!

The Best and the location is convenient for dining before heading down the River Riad for plantation touring. Gumbo small is enough for lunch! A small is larger than anywhere else’s large! Hush puppies amazing and Shrimp PO boy was great as well! My wife had Crawfish Etoufee and had great taste. The restaurant is clean and all the staff friendly!
