Local Taco is a great choice for lunch or dinner. I frequent this establishment and am always pleased with the quick service, delicious tacos, and good atmosphere. While there are better non-standard tacos in Lexington (Candidos, Agave & Rye), these are still very good. Their service is top-notch, and you can always expect to receive your food within a few minutes of ordering.

I got the vegetarian tacos but with black beans instead of mushrooms and the Cuban corn. It was all delicious! It was also served up unbelievably fast and hot, with generous portions. You need to give this place a try!

The Local Taco has various tacos among other things such as enchiladas and quesadillas. We tried the lunch special, which gave you the choice of two tacos and one side. I went with the fish taco and the southern fried chicken taco. The fish taco was good. The southern fried chicken taco was absolutely wonderful. My side of rice was delicious. The nacho chips are great. Can’t wait to go back and try more of their tacos.

This is a huge miss. I had high hopes as I have lived in Lexington for almost 3 years. I have heard great things about Local Taco. They recently opened one near my home so we wanting to go and support a local place in what’s normally an area of chains and big box stores.
This is not a full service restaurant so you order right when you walk in. They give you a number and drink cups to fill. We found a table and put our number visible for our food delivery. It did not take but about 5 minutes after sitting before it arrived at the table. I asked about my margarita I ordered and was told I had to pick that up on the other side of the restaurant a window by the bar. I get it’s not fully service but they could at least deliver the cocktails to your table as they do the food.
Let’s talk about the food. It arrived quickly. Too quick in my opinion. This isn’t supposed to be fast food joint. It was not hot, room temperature at best. I got the pork taco which was lacking flavor. I new it was pork with a slight smoke taste but pretty bland and flavorless. I also had the brisket taco. This one had very tough and dried out pieces which made it hard to eat. It was also very bland and lacked flavor other than the cilantro, which I love and was thankful my husband gave me his so at least it had flavor. The tortillas on both tacos was not warmed and seemed straight out of a bag from the store. I had 2 sides. The Mexican rice is not traditional in any way of Mexican or Tex-mex. I didn’t eat any past my first bite, nor did my husband. My second side was the jalapeño coleslaw. Other than the couple jalapeños on top this had zero flavor. I’m not even sure what type of dressing was supposed to be on it as there was nothing to taste. We ordered queso as an appetizer and it wasn’t hot either. A matter of fact it was starting to congeal to a solid state. The chips are light but so greasy it was gross. My husband had two different tacos as well and he had the same complaints
We will not be back and I do not recommend.

Other reviewer hit the nail on the head, better tacos to be had. It’s definitely more of a college meetup place than an artfully crafted taco restaurant. Parking is a bit tricky. They have a small lot, but adjoining lots are off limits so you must find street parking. You order at the counter, they give you a table number and your food arrives shortly thereafter. Tacos are petite and bite sized. We tried 6 tacos, nothing really stood out or was memorable. Their kids menu, however, was perfect for a small child and fast if you have a hungry child. Most tables were drinking pitchers of beer or mixed drinks. We likely wont be back, but it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great.

This place looked fun and the tacos were beautiful, but had almost no flavor. All of them. Just kind of sad, lackluster tacos. The "Southern Fried Chicken" taco was basically a cut-up chicken tender with some ranch-like substance. The Korean BBQ was so close to being good. The flavor was good, but it was just too bland. Maybe this is how KY likes its tacos? Guac & chips were good. The food was fast.

A horrendously overpriced taco joint with no carryout option??? $73 for what? Now I’ll have to order a pizza to supplement this “meal”. We saw Local Taco on tv years ago and finally got the opportunity to pick up some of it after they opened a more convenient location for people other than downtown Lexingtonians. What a thunderous disappointment! Never again!!!

Came here for drinks, my date ordered margaritas and chips and their trio dipping sauces. We got to sit at the bar, as they now have bar stools. I wasn’t forced to wear a mask upon entry, but they have signs stating otherwise. There’s parking in the back if you can’t find any out front. The restaurant is following all of covid restrictions as in social distance and limited capacity, as well as the servers all wore masks and those in the kitchen or handling food had gloves on. The drinks were strong and great. We both enjoyed our margaritas and the great chill vibes from this place. Will definitely come back here again in the near future.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This place is mediocre at best. Order at the front, get your own fountain drinks. On this trip, they were out of tea. The food came out quickly and was mostly luke warm and tasteless. Jalapeno slaw was a regular out of the bucket with a couple of pepper slices on top. Black beans obviously straight from the can with a couple of tomato chunks on top. Rice wasn't much either. Fish taco was a breaded fish stick. The highlights were the brisket and steak tacos--- the meat was tender, but again tasteless.
And, this one of those places that offers no service, but asks for a tip on the ticket as well as a top jar by the register.
Nope, won't be going back.

This was our first visit as we are now trying out Dog Friendly establishments. Acclimating our Jack Russell with restaurants, breweries, and wineries. The tacos were very good, chips were warm and salsa was good. Friendly staff, and quick service. You place order at counter, and within 5 minutes the food was delivered to the table. Good outdoor patio as well.

We are in Lexington about 3 times a month and had always heard great reviews about this place. We were in town this week moving our daughter in apartment for school and decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed they didn’t have just a basic taco considering it is just a taco place.
I got the steak taco and my hubby got the fish. We also had the guacamole salsa and cheese dip. It was good but not great and not having a ground beef taco was a issue for me.
There was no rice on menu either so make sure you read menu before you go.
There was a line and the atmosphere was laid back which I loved.
You order at counter and get your own drinks so don’t expect a great server. They do carry out your food.

this is a great restaurant right on the edge of campus that is a good combination of student, locals and visitors. Brunch, lunch, or dinner, all are great with creative meals. Margaritas and other beverages also all very good with outstanding service.

Taco Tuesday special was buy 3, get 1 free! Great varieties of tacos to suit everyone’s taste. Everything was delicious. Had spicy shrimp, steak, tequila chicken, and Korean bbq. Also ordered chips and guacamole. Chips were thin, hot and crunchy. Guacamole was fresh and had big chunks of avocado.

This is not your usual Taco joint! A huge menu with all kinds of special tacos. Steak, chicken fish and more. Fried veggies, quesadillas, and salads of all sorts. Service team was excellent on a very busy day. A bar for game day.

Ate dinner at the Local Taco recently with a friend. We arrived around 6 pm on a Monday night and the line was out the door. However they moved pretty quickly. We were able to place our order and found a table outside to wait on our food. Within just a few minutes our food was brought to our table.
I had the fish taco and the tequila lime chicken taco with chips & salsa and queso. The food was delicious. I look forward to going back again to try more of their menu.
