About
Bring the whole family to our Davenport, IA location On Jan. 7, 2004, La Flama made its debut in the Quad Cities. Our first Mexican restaurant was a hole-in-the-wall establishment in Moline, IL, and we quickly outgrew it thanks to our flavorful dishes and welcoming atmosphere. We relocated across the river to Davenport, IA in September 2016, but we soon outgrow that space, too.

Small restaurant on the west side of Davenport with delicious authentic Mexican food. We have enjoyed everything we tried (traditional beef tacos, steak tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, queso with chorizo). The fresh homemade salsa is delicious as are the margaritas. Service is very friendly and efficient. The owner is also very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Great addition to the west end!

I love the food at this restaurant. I was so glad to see it move closer to where I live. The only challenging thing is the dining area is somewhat small. Especially for a popular place! I grabbed a bunch of co workers for lunch and enjoyed my favorite, mole. There is a lunch menu. We were all separate checks which caused some confusion, checks were wrong. I would have liked my drink refreshed more often, but overall this place is great. The server, Chris, was very pleasant.

Got a TapOnItQC text coupon Wednesday for BOGO at La Flama. ($ 7.50 max value) Never been there and have driven by many times. Me and friend went about 5:15 and picked any table we wanted to sit at she said. The waitress was friendly, attentive and waited after we got drinks to let us decide on menu. I ended up deciding on the chicken enchiladas verde Wed/Thurs special and he got the ground beef chimichanga Wed/Thurs special for $9.00 each. Both come with beans and rice. My friend told her on a separate ticket he wanted one beef burrito and one beef soft taco to go for his lunch tomorrow. The waitress brought a basket of chips and a jug of red salsa with a thumb controlled slider spout with our drinks and two black molcajete bowls for the salsa. My friend took a chip and a dip of salsa before me and his eyes watered and started coughing. I took a tiny chip and dipped just a little on the edge. Unbelievably HOT!! Glad we had our pops already. It was so hot there is no way to eat that stuff. The waitress came back to get our dinner orders and I asked if there was anything milder than that stuff. It was on fire and inedible. She stated it's made fresh everyday by him (must be owner) and every batch is different. She said they had a tomatillo based green salsa we could try in another pour jug. I said fine. I also asked for a small guacamole ($2.50) so we would have something to dip the chips and try to cool my mouth off while waiting for our entrees. Waited and waited and finally a cold jug of green tomatillo sauce with thumb slider spout was delivered and another black bowl. It was light green like it had sour cream in it. I thought that looks cool and soothing. It wasn't much better on the heat. So we just shoved all of it to the side of the table, gave up and waited for the guacamole. I was getting real concerned about how hot my enchiladas verde was going to be. Guac never came. Service bombing now! The place was starting to fill up and get busy. I thought I saw her with a bowl of guacamole in her hand, but damn, went the other way to another table. Next thing she was bringing our entrees which were hot and fresh and she offered refills on pops. I asked about my guacamole and she said, "She didn't bring it?" ( Who is she??) I thought you were our waitress. I had hinted I wanted guacamole to go with the chips since none of the salsas were edible. I guess she didn't realize that even with a basket of chips in the middle of the table and all the jugs of salsa and bowls piled up on the edge. I said nevermind. Too late now. Forget it. My enchiladas were swimming in green verde sauce, coated with crumbled cheese, and strizzles of sour cream. Laid in a row on top were three raw, white, onion rings as garnish. The rice was in a tight, round mound with a sea of runny refried beans around it. It looked pretty but was too hot with all that green chili sauce. I ate 3/4 of one enchilada and kept scooping up rice to try to cool my mouth. The beans were nasty with chunks of fairly firm pinto bean floating around. Were not pureed well enough and still chunky. Not much flavor either. I scooped the cheese and sauce off the top of the other two enchiladas and broke open the tortilla and tried to eat the chicken from the inside to have somewhat of a dinner. My friend's beef chimichanga was soggy and wet. I think it may have been wrapped and deep fried, but then when they smothered it all in red sauce and cheese it made it all soggy. He ate 1/3 of it, two scoops of beans and half the rice, then threw his napkin over it and said, "I'm done." "Me too." We looked for the waitress and waited for the check and to use my BOGO coupon. She came to see how it was and I didn't tell her the truth. We asked about his to go order and she was going to go check. In the meantime we watched other tables, even an older couple in their 60's, just gobbling down the salsa and chips. A family of four was digging in even with grade school aged children. The older couple got their food and the man poured the salsa over his tostadas and she was dumping it in rows over her tacos. How can all these people being gobbling down salsa? Ours was extremely hot and inedible. Then I noticed the cap colors of their thumb controlled slider spouts were all red. Ours was orange. I think the waitress gave a us the super duper hot salsa they may reserve for serious Mexican customers that want super hot salsa. Orange= Habanero?
Now the bill was another mess. Brought it and I was shocked at the total. Figured out she put my friend's take home lunch on there after he told her it was a separate ticket when he ordered. Then I see small guacamole, which we never got and I told her to forget it since the meals came. Then she didn't give me the TapOnItQC discount. Tapped REDEEM button. Got that fixed, took off guacamole, but I looked and discount was $ 7.01. I guess $ .49 7% tax on a discount. Not going back. What a mess!

This was our first and last time visiting this place, they have poor service and the food wasn't authentic nor good, it was way too salty to the point that you couldn’t eat it or taste anything other than salt. The menus were dirty with food particles smears all over them. Once we got there, we notice one fly by the window so we thought, no big deal it’s just a bug, however, once our order arrives there were flies hovering all over the place. Definitely will not return.
