When I first opened the door to Libanais, I was greeted by the sweet aroma of fresh baked goods and delighted by the sight of mounds of tempting treats. Nevertheless, my friends and I opted to act like adults and have dinner before dessert. The four of us loaded up on an array of appetizers before choosing two entrees to share. I recommend this approach to anyone who, like me, who is unfamiliar with Lebanese food. It was a real dining adventure and everything we selected delicious. I particularly enjoyed the baba ghannouj, and I was blown away by the pistachio-encrusted pudding and macaroons we had for dessert. The atmosphere was casual and cozy and the service was excellent. We had a pleasant and diligent waitress who was so impressed by our enthusiasm and hearty appetites that she treated us to an extra dessert pastry. To top it all off, we couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were. Parking can be a challenge on a busy night because the Libanais lot is so small, but there is street parking nearby. So, grab some friends and go -- your friends will thank you for it.

We ordered individual boxed appetizers for a small event and it turned out amazing. The manager was so accomodating. Superseded any and all expectations. Food was absolutely delicious. Everyone asked where it was from. It was delivered on time and in cute little containers. This place has it all together from knowing how to treat people to serving the best food around. Other restaurants should take a lesson from you guys. Really well done. Thank you.

Three of us came for lunch. The $10 lunch special was a good value, though the plate's contents didn't taste fresh! The fattoush salad and shawafel wrap ordered separately were very good. The Nutella cake dessert was excellent.

The food is fantastic 90% of the time, my favorite middle eastern food in Chicago, but out of my last five take-out dinners, all 5 had something missing or wrong with the order. The first time they sent the missing item via delivery, this time the owner said, "it's not worth it to send a delivery for a small item." Again a small item they forgot that I paid for. The lady in the front has a major attitude, and then the owner said, "You are the only one who ever has problems." .... Yeaaa, people stop using your business after a problem, not try to allow you to fix YOUR MISTAKE. I then asked for a refund. The owner said, "ill give you more food next time, no refund." At this point, I'm just disputing the charge on the credit card.

The food is ok, nothing too special. But you better not have any comments or requests as service is horrid. Every time we communicated with Mohamed the waiter, he made us feel like we were wasting his precious time. My wife was trying to decide whether to get her food medium or medium-well, in an exchange that barely lasted 10 seconds, to which he banged his hand on the table impatiently to get her to decide. Asking for more water? How dare us for wasting his time. It was very pressuring and dreadful.
At the end, the place has a policy of compulsory gratuity if you are 6 or more people. We were not, but Mohamed still insisted it be added to the bill. We tip, mind you, and handsomely, but the idea that he added it to the bill forcefully even though we did not meet the criteria for the policy seemed off for us. I enquired, respectfully, as to why it was there, and Mohamed completely lost it with us. He started banging his chest screaming "This is 'MY' right, you want to take away 'MY' right?". We ended up tipping someone else, more than the gratuity was asking for, but not before I made sure Mohamed went back and removed it from the bill.
Upon asking for management, management disregarded everything we said, claiming Mohamed is their 'top waiter'. Says a lot about the place.

I have been going to Lebanais for years and have never once had a bad meal
Until tonight. I ordered the lamb shank that tasted like salt was poured into the sauce. After bringing it to my waitresses attention, she said I wasn’t the 1st to complain about it. She went to the manager(owner) who refused to do anything about it! I went up to him and told him I’ve never had a bad experience until tonight. He refused to admit anything was wrong with the meal and charged me for it, even though I sent it back! I was not made another meal and still charged. I’m so disappointed. I will not be returning.

My wife and I split the Combo Libanais for lunch -- plenty of food for us! The Kabobs were expertly grilled, aromatic, juicy, and full of flavor. We were happy that our food came quickly and beautifully presented on the plate. We loved the lamb chops. Highly recommended for the delicious food, the good service, and the good value.
And they have an amazing bakery with both Middle Eastern and European delicacies. (Sadly, we were too full to indulge.)

Best Lebanese food in Chicago. It truly feels like being in Beirut. The place is nicely decorated and impeccably clean. The staff is friendly and the service is quick and with no frills. Their bakery is amazing with every imaginable Lebanese sweet you can think of baked riding house. Be prepared to take a tray of Lebanese sweets home at the end of your meal. We have been here several times and I’ve never been disappointed there’s essentially nothing on that menu that is not well prepared and tasty. You cannot go wrong coming here.

While the savory menu is significant for ‘stay in’ or ‘take out’ dining, it is the sweets that stand out as an experience that lingers. An entire room of Lebanese pastries, dipped in sugar syrup, pistachio and chocolate awaits you to pick up a few, or an entire tray. Be prepared to wait for everything here. Service is kind, kitchen is slow.

Years ago at a Lebanese restaurant in Michigan I had Hummos Shawarma, a bed of hummus with onions and thinly sliced spiced lamb with pita bread. I thought it was one of the best things I had ever eaten. I ordered this dish at Libanais, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. Their bakery area is beautifully displayed. Both the exterior and interior of the restaurant are attractive and inviting. I will definitely go back.

I have had many lebanese desserts and these were ok. They could have been tastier and more moist. I was overall dissappointed. I bought some as well at Marianos and about the same. Not bad but not great.

Thanks you to all we interacted in restaurant, it was really great family dinning experience!
We started with Zataar & Cheese Mana’eesh, which had awesome flavors. The Kebbeeh Hamis was a standout, showing off the chef's skills. We tried Turkish Teas, which added something special to our meal. The Shawarma platter, Combo kabob, Lamb kabob wrap, and Chicken kabob wrap were all so tasty, and we left feeling really happy. And the Lebanese sweets, like baklava rolls, Coconut Macdoun, and few more like ma'amoul, were the perfect ending to our meal. They had lots of layers and a sweet taste that went perfectly with the other dishes. It was like a complete and delicious feast!
Our server, Makram, was super nice and made our time there even better. Makram's service was excellent and friendly.
We totally recommend this restaurant for a yummy and memorable dining experience!
