Our fist time here and we will be back! We love the laid back atmosphere and they have private rooms and patio. The staff was welcoming put the food is the star! The menu has many choices and our choices were fresh and flavorful. Please try the bacon wrapped dates and slow roasted pork belly! Well done!

What a great spot. The most fantastically accommodating family who runs it. The most darling staff waiting tables and serving us. And dang, if that food was not amazing on top. If you are there in the morning and you don't get the donuts with caramel sauce, you're not doing yourself a favor. Just get them.

My daughter and I ate here on a Thursday evening. We sat on the patio - cool space. We ordered the goat cheese and honeycomb appetitzer, which was outstanding! I had the fish and chips - great batter and large sized fish filets. My daughter had the lamb burger, which she loved as well.

We were initially given a table next to the door, but, upon request, were given a better table when it became available. Very much appreciated this as we were celebrating husband's birthday. Lamb and salmon burgers were quite good. Seafood stew was bland and we would not recommend. The service was poor. Our water was not refilled even once and our server did not check on us. I will attribute it to labor shortages but am unlikely to return.

It was nice, better than expected. I would think it is also best a little later on when it is not so full. Otherwise noise may have been a serious issue. The fact that they brew their own beer was very impressive and I would like to return to sample more of them. The food was fresh and of the right amount and warm.

Good food, but possibly the worst service we'd ever experienced at a restaurant. COMICALLY bad. We had a party of SEVEN for brunch. We had to flag down our waiter to ask for menus. Then we had to ask for coffee. Then we had to ask for cream and sugar. Which didn't come with sweetener. Then we had to ask for silverware... and he only brought FOUR sets. He spilled the donut appetizers across the table and neither offered to replace them nor ever cleaned up the mess.
The entire meal was like that. He got some of the food orders wrong and never came by to refill the coffee except when we repeatedly asked. It's BRUNCH--coffee refills should be pretty standard. We ordered dessert and it came without silverware. So we asked for it. And he brought FOUR spoons. Again, FOUR sets, for the SEVEN of us.
The food was good, but holy crap, dude, you weren't busy, just negligent. Pay attention!

Went on a busy Saturday night.
Average in every way.
Service was never rude, but it was totally scattered, with staff appearing to be under-trained. The hostess stand was often empty, and the hostess seemed stress. Before our reservation, we sat at the bar, figuring 20 minutes was enough to enjoy a drink before our table was ready. This was not correct--despite having many empty seats, it took 7 minutes to be recognized by the bartender, who returned 10 minutes after that to take our order, by which time our table was ready. The long waits were filled with watching him pace back and forth, figuring out what to do, and clear other empty seats' dishes (an important task, but probably not more important than serving customers who are waiting).
Advice: if ordering a drink, stick to the beers. The amber ale was great, one. Two, it was evident from watching them that the bartenders had no clue how to make the cocktails on offer, as evidenced by them searching and searching for ingredients, referencing instructions, and by the patron who returned to the bar because his cocktail was bad and watching the staff not know what to do. Sweet, but way under-trained.
The menu is heavy comfort food...burgers, sandwiches, some entrees, and some salads. All sounded more appealing than it tasted. Pulled pork nachos looked good, but had only one texture (goopy), and the meat was dry and flavorless. Fries were crispy, but under-salted. A friend chicken sandwich was okay, but needed more flavor in the sauce and crunch in the pickles. I might seem picky, but comfort food at this price point should be better than this was.
Can't say I would recommend or plan to return.

There are few things better than comfort food done right. Think grilled cheese, chicken wings and nachos all executed with thoughtfully chosen ingredients and inventive recipes. This is what Peckish Pig is all about.
I started by ordering the aforementioned wings, which came with two sauces on the side--one creamy mayo-based and one classic buffalo. The wings themselves were crispy, well-seasoned and not at all fatty. (I'd say they were worthy of a Superbowl viewing party.)
As for other apps, the bacon-wrapped dates are a stand-out bite. The bacon is cooked perfectly--its intense saltiness complementing the sweetness of the dates. I'm also partial to the pulled pork nachos here, with real cheese (sauce), sour creme and unbearably spicy jalapenos. The flavor combination is bold and satisfying.
I absolutely love the trout almondine at Peckish Pig, which consists of a buttery, well-done fillet of fish garnished with toasted almonds, asparagus and mashed potatoes. I am not the biggest asparagus fan, but here it was prepared so well that I enjoyed it anyway. The almonds added a fabulous texture and depth to the dish. I highly recommend it.
My favorite part of the meal was dessert. My party ordered two tarts: one lemon topped with whipped cream, and another chocolate-caramel with a scoop of caramel gelato on top. That gelato was the finest I've ever had. It was rich, sweet and melty. I would have happily ordered a pint of it to go. Word to the wise: don't skip dessert at Peckish Pig.
Service here is shockingly fast. My appetizers arrived about five seconds after I ordered them (with only a slight exaggeration). Prices are pretty reasonable for the Evanston area. Overall, Peckish Pig is an excellent choice for comfort food done right.

You asked through Trip Advisor for a review. Although was very interested, and loved the reviews, was looking for a luncheon spot. So had to go elsewhere.

We had dinner here over the Thanksgiving weekend while visiting family in Chicago. Short drive North on the way to Lightscape at the Botanic Garden (a must see). Nice beer menu and cocktails got us started. Due to the time of year I got the Early Riser, a nitro porter with coffee, which was really good. Everyone loved their drink choices. Attentive service, and friendly staff. Nicely varied food menu, and again all were very pleased. Although I would not normally order fish and chips this far inland, we learned that the owners are from England, and know their stuff. Very well done. Only minor complaint was that lighting was quite dim, even necessitating the use of iPhone light to view the menu. Overall good ambiance and very enjoyable for a rare indoor dining experience in these challenging times.

We called for a reservation for 4 for a Monday night and we’re ‘cautioned’ that they are restricting you to 90 minutes at your table starting when you are seated! Upon arriving this message was again repeated by the host and then by the staff who saw us to our table.... wow, we thought it was great they were that busy....but the place wasn’t 2/3 full?
They are understaffed as advertised in the window as your arrive and that won’t be reflected in my score, but must be mentioned. They worked hard and were pleasant but were overextended and requests took time to be taken care of.
Six of the eight bacon wrapped dates were pretty tasty but the others had raw bacon on one side...... The spicy gumbo was pathetic thin broth with undercooked rice, sauce slices, some chicken specks and 2 small shrimp.... I’d gladly have paid more for a heartier plate. The fish and chips were super greasy battered huge filets. The breading was so puffed out it fell off the fish with every bite. The fish and curry was well received but the lamb burger was so so. Fries were soggy and just filling. Their formerly cute serving boards are now old warped pieces of wood with unknown bacteria living happily there on. We asked for plates.
The drinks were strong and upped my rating..... and as to our ‘90 minutes’, NO ONE ELSE ENTERED AFTER WE DID....there was no second rush! We had paced our meal and drinks to comply with their SILLY timetable..... maybe weekends warrant that but they should’ve said ‘IF we get busy we’ll ask you limit you visit to 90 minutes’.... stupidity cost them at least a round of drinks we were too rushed to enjoy before dinner. Silly, silly people and poor oversight. We will not return!

I had the fish and chips. Beautiful pieces of fissh and fries were good. My lovely dinner guest had wings and the ribs which she enjoyed very much. I would definitively go back.

The bacon wrapped dates are phenomenal. The cocktail/beer selection is varied and delicious. The french fries are better than most places. And the beef and chorizo burger with goat cheese was delightful. Good service, easily sat a large group of people, cool atmosphere. Great choice for the neighborhood!
