Great choice for lunch with my children who go to Northwestern University, the dishes are varied and well prepared. We started with a sashimi starter, Miso soup, the wonton soup and the hot and sour soup. Then for main dishes ordered the Adult Xiao Long Bao, the beef black pepper plate and the sweet and sour porkchop.
All of it with great dessert options, and diverse list of wines and drinks. This is an affordable and a high quality place to have lunch (and dinner).

If you want great Asian food without the typical dingy atmosphere this is your place. Menu has a variety of different styles (regions) of Chinese cooking. They have many unique dishes such as cumin lamb which we love. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. We've been going there for 20+ years.

Ambiance perfect: low light, low exquisite wall paintings, charming atmosphere. Food was delicately prepared and delicious. Service was impeccable and attentive. This is the best Chinese/Asian food in Evanston. Perfect for relaxed elegance. And the price is right. Start with lychee martini and enjoy the whole fish.

Koi is the best Asian restaurant on the North Shore, and probably in the Chicago area as well. The Happy Hour is fantastic. Great food, elegant dining room, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices. We love it!

Love the atmosphere. Great bar area and the private party room is perfect for events. The food is amazing. Especially love the Sesame Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. The owner is really invested in the community. Drop off or pick up a good book in the entry hallway. One of the restaurants I made sure to support during the pandemic. Hope it remains in Evanston for years to come.

Back in Evanston to visit alma mater. Hadn't had Chinese food in awhile and decided to try Koi which was just a couple of blocks from our hotel (The Graduate). Focused on the Chinese side of the menu which was extensive. Both appetizers and main course were excellent. The portions were huge! Highly recommended.

This was very good not the best we have had. The service was good. The bar tender was very attentive. We like to sit at the bar when it is the two of us.

The food was pretty average to be honest - the pad Thai was truly quite bland - had no vegetables and looked nothing like how it should, and the sushi wasn’t great. It felt like a very low quality meal.

The service was fantastic - our waitress was so knowledgeable of the menu and helped us a lot!! The restaurant is also very beautiful and absolutely clean - that’s a requirement!
Now to the food… we had dumplings and the spicy chicken wings for apps and they were delicious and clearly freshly made!!
For my main, I had the General Chicken dish and other people at the table had a vegetarian dish and a fish dish…
Everything was FRESH and COOKED ON THE SPOT!! -
This was QUALITY. It is clear this restaurant CARES AND IT SHOWS!!
Keep up the great work!! Yummy!!
Looking forward to returning for my birthday in September!!!

I've eaten in many restaurants that specialized in a type of Chinese cuisine -- Hunan, Sichuan, Cantonese -- and some that had entrees from more than one Chinese culture, but I've never been to a restaurant that offered cuisines from all eight regions of China; until now. Not only did Koi have examples from all eight regions, one can order half portions to increase the opportunity to sample the different styles of cooking.
Our group of five chose entrees from four different regions and each diner reported that his or her choice was first rate. One of my group of diners had previously had the Dim Sum brunch and felt that the range of choices was excellent. This may be the best all round Chinese restaurant that I have ever been to.
Lastly, Koi also offers sushi. While no one in our party ordered any, but if it is anywhere as well prepared as the Chinese cuisine, Koi can't be beat.
