This is my top choice for authentic Northern China food. You don't want to miss the lamb spine with cumin which is one of the signature dishes, if you like spicy and juicy meat. I will also recommend crispy milk for desert. On top of...tasty food, they serve fastMore

I always try to eat here when visiting Chicago. It's still a wonderful place to be. We started with the complimentary soybeans in a soy glaze. We shared a seafood and crispy noodle dish that had too much soft surimi. Otherwise it was very good....We also shared a sauteed hot and sour shredded potato dish to which I had them add eggplant. Tasty. The service as always was excellent.More

Whenever we visit Chicago, we try to find time for a visit to this excellent restaurant. The owner and staff are always welcoming and friendly. Service is excellent. The menu has many vegetarian dishes. When we sat down, we were given a dish of tasty...soybeans. We started with their signature dish, soup dumplings. You take one into your mouth and bite down, and scrumptious liquid flows on to your tongue. We followed that with hot and sour soup. Very good. Then we shared Mapo Tofu; sauteed eggplant, potato, and green peppers; and deep fried tofu. What an excellent feast! Prices are reasonable.More

My first time here but the other people I was with have been here many times for the excellent food. They are famous for soup dumplings which are delicious. The menu is so extensive it’s hard to know what to order. Turns out the large...menu was incomplete so ask for the carry out menu if you want real moo shoo which was delicious and included authentic pancakes not the usual flour tortillas so often presented. The moo shoo contained tree ears but no lily buds. Nevertheless everything was delicious. Other dishes we enjoyed were hot and sour soup, fried tofu with special sauce, and cucumber and crab salad which was very tasty despite being made with fake crab. Service is a bit slow because everything is cooked to order so be prepared to spend some time here. Prices are very, very reasonable and portions are large.More

This is a new place in the south loop. The food is really good. The service is so so and the place unassuming. It is byob but if nothing changes I will order from this location often. It is a good addition to the neighborhood...and I hope it stays for a long time.More

No Longer Ed's. Yes it took a little extra time bit was well worth the wait A great value in about 10 flavorful albeit small chicken postickers, came out. We ordered fried rice and the shrinp we go goid , I could have ordered a...side dish. Everything wss made to order so very fresh and very authentic. A safe trip to the near Southside neighborhood of Bridgeport as it's across the day police station and right on the Halsted street bus line. It's too far from the 'EL' so use the bus if on public transportation. Order up, you won't go broke. Can't wait to get back!More

It's always a delight to come here. Service is excellent as is the food. We started with the soup dumplings. It's fun to bite into them, releasing a mouthful of clear broth. The hot and sour soup was very good, and the portion for two...was more than enough for the three of us. For entrees we had the unusual sauteed celery and lotus flowers. The petals of the flowers had the consistency and slight flavor of roasted chestnuts. Yum! The other entree was the seafood with vegetables. Very good. A large pot of sticky white rice made it easy to eat it with chopsticks.More

Dined here one night while in Chicago for business the week of Sept 25-29th. Pot stickers were big, but lacking flavor. The dumplings were smaller, excellent and had much better flavor. The sizzling seafood plate was a big hit with plenty for two people. The...beef with onions was a big miss - pot roast pulled apart and deep fried with tiny chiles and french fries (?!) and very little flavor. The fries weren't mentioned on the menu or we would've maybe ordered something else and had another hit. Our waiter was probably a family member that didn't seem very interested in waiting on a table, much less even enthused about whatever the chef's specialties might be when asked. Overall, I've had much better family Chinese in lots of smaller towns including my own in Western NC. Mastercard/Visa/cash only - no Amex.More

This used to be called Ed's Potsticker House but now it's run by Ed's wife and has dropped "Ed's." The setting, service, and food are wonderful. This was our second time here after a year or so, and it's better than ever. The three of...us shared a number of dishes. We started with the seafood hot and sour soup for two that was more than enough for three. A nice touch was the black vinegar served on the side that was a nice condiment for the soup. We added the delicious soup dumplings (7) that burst with the flavor of the hot liquid when bitten into. Another plate was the terrific sauteed peapod leaves that we ordered with garlic. All in all, a wonderful experience.More

There is a dumpling for everyone in your dining party. They also have great choices for dessert, such as...the fried dough with condensed milk.More
