Booked this restaurant based on previous reviews. I have to say, our experience had more in common with the poorer reviews. The food whilst large in quantity lacked taste, the Pad Thai was not good at all. The service also wasn't what was expected, it...was though Waitress wanted us out of there a.s.a.p.
Paying the bill was a palaver. The Credit Card reader couldn't get a signal, then didn't recognise my card details when inserted leading to the Cashier entering all the details manually. Good grief!!More
Just wanted to share our experience here. Food was tasty (although not as spicy as one might expect). The people in the restaurant were very friendly. The owner / head chef offered us a sampler of some chicken that was already prepared. It was delicious...as well. And the portions were extremely generous. The bill was reasonable for Chicago dining. All in all we were very happy stopping here. I think you will be as well.More
We were staying nearby and love Thai food and ordered take out. My wife ordered churchee salmon and loved it but she could not finish the large portion. We shared edamame and vegetable fried rice, again large portions, which were very good. I also ordered...Tom Koa soup with chicken, which was very good, but very large and I could not finish it-it would satisfy two people. The staff was very friendly. I recommend this place but understand the meals are enough for two to share. We could not even save the leftovers for the next day as I usually do as we were visiting and staying at a hotel.More
Love the big, open windows along Illinois. I sat here, enjoying the breeze, the slight sounds of the city, and some very good food.
I had the deep-friend mini vegetable egg rolls. They came out quickly; Perfectly done. They had a slight hint of oil,...and the veggies inside were crisp-tender. Can’t say they were the best I’ve had (because my memory isn’t that good), but they ranked right up there.
I then moved on to a big bowl of Tom Kha Kai soup. My memory is fine here. It’s the best I’ve ever had … and I’ve spent many weeks in Thailand. It was the perfect balance of tang, coconut (not too heavy in the broth), gentle herbs and roots, and spice. I’d kill for their recipe.
I finished it off with the Thai banana in sticky rice. Really good. Waaay too much for one though. It came with three banana-rice ‘packets’ individually wrapped in banana leaves. I would have been good with just one…but I ate all three because they were good.
I’ll define come back if I’m ever in the neighborhood.More
We went to Star of Siam because of our love for thai food. The environment is ok but the table was pretty dirty when we arrived and we cleaned it. And getting there if you have two strollers like us is a challenge since they...don't have an accessible entrance.
The food was good, not great, the service was pleasant and the price is ok.
I would recommend the lobster cream cheese wonton.More
We were happy with the potstickers and beef skewers for appetizers. Of the 4 dinners that were ordered only one was enjoyed. The pad thai was so disappointing. We didn't finish our meals nor did we care to take the leftovers home.
The service was...good, we were just disappointed with the food.More
We ordered take out at the star of Siam. One order was shrimp wrapped in rice paper and then deep fried. The shrimp wasn't almost non-existent. We ordered pad Thai and what came was a takeout bowl of gelatinous noodles, all stuck together and six...overcooked shrimp. There was no sauce in with the noodles. Frankly it was revolting and impossible to serve.More
