My mom and I are visiting Chicago, and had unfortunately not encountered any truly great food so far this trip. Fortunately this was corrected when one of the employees at our hotel recommended Uncommon Ground. The atmosphere is very nice, and though I’m not generally...not a huge fan of live music, it was truly a nice touch and added to the ambiance as we didn’t sit in the music room, but still got to hear it in the background. Don the manager and Josh our server were both very knowledgeable about the menu and incredibly nice and helpful. The food was amazing. We had the pot pie and the meatloaf and shared them. If I had to order one it would be the meatloaf (we devoured it) but the pot pie was absolutely fantastic and came out piping hot (which sadly isn’t always common for pot pie in a lot of restaurants). I absolutely love comfort food, yet sadly it can sometimes be tricky to find high quality comfort food. We were so fortunate to find that Uncommon Ground and if you want high quality comfort food at reasonable prices (not insanely cheap, but reasonably priced and not much more at all than some places with horrendous bar food). Do yourself a favor and check it out if you’re in the area.More
