I recently visited the Rum Cake Lady on my trip to Blue Ridge and WOW - I wasn't expecting to find such great Cuban in the mountains! The two women that were at the front taking the orders were so sweet, I really enjoyed conversing...with them. The food was just as great as the customer service. I have Celiac Disease and thoroughly enjoyed the: pork tamale, beef picadillo bowl, and bought not just one, but TWO, mini limoncello rum cakes. I know Celiac may vary on sensitivity and reactions, but this cafe didn't make me ill which is a HUGE win (if you know, you know). I could not recommend enough!More

Very friendly staff and EXCELLENT food. Everything was fresh and delicious, highly recommended. We tried the Cuban, beef empanada, chicken tamal and papa rellena. We forgot to take pictures bcz we are it so fast

I stopped here before checking into my hotel. I had a Cuban sandwich and empenadas. The sandwich was spectacular! Best I've had. My last Cuban sandwich was in Tampa and was ok at best, left no impression. I will drive the 2.5 hours to eat...here regularly. This place is a must try.More

Born and raised in Tampa, and being Cuban, I was excited yet skeptical of this place at first. My girlfriend and I decided to stop in. What a fantastic experience from the moment we walked in the door! The papa rellena with the pink sauce...was great. The media noche with the black beans and rice with the platanos we’re great as well. Girlfriend got the Tampa Cuban with a tres leche cake and Ofcourse had the golden rum cake. Everything was amazing even the cafe con leche! Had a nice chat with the lady working (mostly in Spanish) and I was so glad I stopped in. I wouldn’t hesitate to put this place against any of the famous spots we have back home. Will be back some day!More

stop here for lunch based on reviews. was not disappointed one of the best Cuban sandwich I had mostly due to they used baked pork and not slice port for the meat. The only thing wife did not like they had no ice for drinks.

Latest visit did not disappoint. Service is first class. The smiles and efficiency are to be applauded. The food - OUT OF THIS WORLD - everything we have tried is scrumptious.

The food was great. We've had a lot of Cuban food, having lived in the Tampa area, and this was just as good as the good ones there. My husband had a Cuban sandwich and I had black beans, yellow rice, and plantains. Yum! However,...I really wish they had seating inside to get out of the elements to enjoy their great food. We visited on a chilly day. They have a tiny store front where you can purchase cakes and place your order for food. Friendly staff. The kitchen is next door and has a window through which they serve your food to you when they call your number. After you place your order, you go outside to their covered porch dining area to wait for your food. They also have uncovered seating behind the building. Cute and probably lovely al fresco dining if the weather is fair. After we go our food, we chose to eat in our car because it was just too darn chilly to eat outside and I didn't want my hot food to cool off too quickly.More
