So many good things to say. That’s hard to say about a Cuban spot. Not because they aren’t good but because they are often so good. However this wonderful place gets extra stars from me! Most importantly their food was well seasoned, I expected that....The honorable mention I am giving is over their cocktail selection. Two in particular! The Rumbero and Raspberry Lips are top notch. Thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed, they brought joy to my palate. The Rumbero is their take on an Old Fashioned with ingredients so perfectly combined it made a perfect pairing with the Mofongo Ropa Vieja. And oh thank goodness they did not dump beverage ice and a cheap ice cream style maraschino cherry into my drink. Instead, I received a proper orange 🍊 peel, a proper cherry, and a single large cube 🧊, as it should be! The Raspberry Lips after dinner made for a great palette cleans before dessert and boy was I surprised to see how they used a Veagn frothy foam as the finish rather than the classic egg white foam. I would have never noticed if they had not told me! The cocktail was smooth, elevated and served up. With fresh raspberry puree, gin and lemon juice this cocktail will awaken your taste buds for sure. Well done Las Palmas! Thank you for the great evening.More
We arrived on a late evening Sunday for Mount Dora. The charming area was closing and very dead. It was 7:30pm and not many restaurants were still open. Las Palmas had great Latin-American food. Fajitas, palomilla steak, ropa vieja, mofongo… the passion fruit was refilled...at no extra charge. They had special on drinks for adults… The portions were large and we ordered extra tortillas for the fajitas. Our children loved their yuca frita, onion rings and tostones! The service was very good and fast!More
Food was served as ordered, service was great and the food was tasty. Good location, nices views and we all enjoyed our dinners.
I don't often put a 5 star out to a restaurant unless I have eaten there several times. However, I am making an exception. I want to be upfront with my reason for this. I really like a good tamal. Even though I had only...one and an empanada, I really liked the tamal. If for no other reason, I would come back here to eat .More
Best black beans ever. We love the decor. Roasted pork was delicious! Nice servers. The Tres Leche may have had some amaretto which I wasn't crazy about, but overall it was a great find and we'll be back.
YES YES YES! This restaurant was absolutely delicious- everything from the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and even the dessert was perfection. After a disappointing experience at another Cuban spot in town, this place really blew it out of the water for us. Everything tasted magnificent and...was very well seasoned. The mojitos were also delicious!! Definitely check out the cream cheese stuffed churros with guava dipping sauce.More
We ate at Las Palmas for the first time yesterday. We will definitely return. We both had Mofongo. I had pork mofongo and my husband had chicken mofongo. The pork mofongo was the best I’ve ever had in Florida. Our server, Isabel was great. And...a big plus for us, they have Modelo on tap.More
Stopped here by accident. 4 people standing at the entrance just talking. We were finally seated. Isabel was our server. She was excellent and suggested many items on the menu. Very cool decorated place. We had some little breads w 3 sauces...we're great. I ordered...a Cuban sandwich...it was fine. My husband had some kind of thin steak w onions...the steak was overdone and stringy. His came w onion rings and a yellow rice. Those were good. I had margarita special...of course they were delicious. We never received our salads...but they deducted them off of the bill. It wasn't the best meal I ever had...but I would go again and try something else.More
Las Palmas is a wonderful Cuban restaurant in Mount Dora. They offer 2 for 1 Margaritas and Mojitos that are very tasty. They also have many other cocktails. On our visit my wife enjoyed their Mojitos, and I had a Rum Runner. For our entrees...my wife ordered the Filete a la Plancha, and I ordered the Bistec Emapanizado. The portions were gigantic and yet very reasonably priced. Let me tell you the food was delicious. The staff is very friendly. I know that my wife and I will be going back to this restaurant again when we go to Mount Dora.More
My wife & I were spending the day just enjoying downtown Mt Dora. Got hungry & were in the mood for Cuban. Happened into Las Palmas - got an excellent lunch. We both got traditional Pressed Cuban sandwiches & fries. The Cubans were perfect and...the fries were hot off the rack. Got 2for1 Margaritas & we'll be back !!!More
Our food and drinks were excellent. The portions were huge. They were very busy, but we were seated quickly and the service was good.
Very good service, excellent menu options and nice atmosphere. Food was very good quality all around. They know how to prepare fajitas and ropa vieja are top-notch. Prices were reasonable and our waiter Camilo was amazing. I truly recommend las Palmas cuban restaurant for any...occasion..More
Charge $1.50 extra for onion rings over fries. Got five yes just five small onion rings. Cuban sandwich was B at best. Bread on the edge of stale.
Dined here for Mothers Day. The restaurant was decorated and I was given a rose which was such a special touch. Despite the restaurant being crowded , we had great service from Luis. Our meals were good and the mojito excellent. We will be back.
