It’s an amazing place. I love chatting with Frank the bartender, who never forgets my name or where I live (even after I’ve been away for years). I ordered the USDA Prime Sirloin, and it was cooked a perfect medium rare and paired it with...a local Zinfandel. I always love the relaxed ambience here.More

Went on the advice of a winemaker. When we arrived, we were a bit nervous because of the plastic tablecloths, but no need to be. Truly, one of the most tender and flavorful porkchops we've had in forever; certainly better than mine! Because of the...size of that, we also shared what we thought would be a smaller dish, the mushroom ravioli, which was also cooked perfectly and nice flavor combos. We had started with the artichoke (typical steamed and flash grilled for that char flavor), and of course the basket of tasty breads came as a starter, so we had ravioli leftover. Way too full for desert. Love that they have local wines for reasonable prices. Our waitress was wonderful - friendly and helpful. Plenty of tables inside, though reservations were pretty booked up, so don't wait to decide when you'll go. Limited parking directly adjacent.More

A perfect dinner. Appetizers were perfection. The raisin walnut bread is amazing. We had the lobster ravioli with sun dried tomato cream sauce. Yum yum 😋

Every time we visit the Paso are we find our way to McPhees for dinner. It is consistently good in all aspects of dining. Atmosphere, service, selection, and food quality. Good selection of local wines at reasonable prices just adds to the enjoyment. It represents...what Central Coast dining should be about……capturing the essence of the area.More

Terrific meal. We had the $98 special porterhouse/ filet. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans. We passed in wine since we had some earlier. Very good service.

Our last night in the Paso area and we had failed to make reservations. Called a couple places and then remembered Maribeth at Doce Robles had recommended McPhees and they could get us in. They were very busy but could not have been nicer. Cute...saloon atmosphere in a very cute little town with a huge grain elevator in the center. Every single morsel we ordered was AHmazing! We were blown away. We started with a roasted garlic goat cheese, to die for. Hubby and I split the salmon and it melted in our mouths. Slaw and Garlic mashed potatoes were equally delicious. Our friends got Jambalaya and were blown away. We all split a chocolate dessert. Will absolutely be back the next time we are in the area. I wish I had photos but we gobbled everything down too fast!More

We debated between 2 stars and 3. We used to love this place, especially for lunch (no longer available), but tonight’s experience was not at all comparable to how McPhee’s used to be. We settled for 3 stars because the have service was good, but...the food was just OK and poor value for the money. We had the macadamia-crusted salmon, which used to be superb, of the highest quality and imaginatively presented. This time: mediocre in quality - I suspect it was sockeye - and served with a dollop of mash and another dollop of coleslaw. Everything seems to be prepared with less care. Not planning to return.More

This place has always been my birthday destination every year. I highly recommend the jambalaya pasta. As a man from the south I am very judgmental when it comes to jambalaya, and this place hit's the mark. The ambiance is very comfortable with dim lighting,...and also they have a wonderful selection. If you are looking for a place with high quality food and wonderful service please come here.More

First time we dined here was in 2008. Went back this weekend and it was delightful and the food was delicious as I remembered. The burger was generous and juicy...I ordered the ravioli except I changed out the pasta and it was perfect with asparagus,...olive oil, mushrooms and burrata cheese. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine, sat by the window and our server was friendly. Great spot if you're in the area of Templeton!More

Loved the atmosphere and the service was really good.We had a party of 6 and everyone ordered something different off the menu.I ordered the Ribeye medium rare and unfortunately it was more medium but I didn’t want to send it back as the table were...already into their meals. My wife’s Halibut was exceptional and the flavors were perfect. We of course had to have the Crème brûlée and it was as good as the server had said.More

Came back to McPhee's on our first night in Cambria last week. An excellent experience from start to finish... We weren't starving, so ordered a chicken tortilla soup, a shrimp salad and a salmon entree, and they were so nice & split it all on...two plates for us! And Templeton is a cute, small town with that giant grain elevator. Very cool.More

It was so nice to spend Christmas Eve with friends at a restaurant that we all love. What a special treat. Our dinners were outstanding! Filet Mignon, Tempura Shrimp, Ribeye, Salads & of course, dessert, Creme Brulee & a Sundae. The wines were very good...as well. The presentation & attention to detail were great. Our server was very attentive, always checking on us. We look forward to returning in May.More

Took the family to McPhee’s on Thanksgiving and it was quite a treat. The meals were very well done and plated beautifully. So delicious and portions were exceptionally generous — especially on dessert! The creme brûlée is excellent and is not your average thin ramekin....We were all very impressed with the food the atmosphere and the wait staff!! Glad to have found this gem!More

Yes there is and unfortunately its one of the highest out there. If I remember (and I could be wrong) its about $20. Better to just go and have their wine. Their house wines are very good.

I've lived in Templeton since I was 11 years old... Back when it was a po-dunk farm town. It's definitely lost that vibe and become more of a yupee feel, which I hate, but unfortunately it's the way things go when you live... More
