We went here on a Saturday in October for my husbands’ birthday. After we were seated, we found you had to scan a barcode with your phone to get the full menu but a partial printed menu was still provided. The seating was in a quaint alleyway patio with soft festive lights and romantic candles creating an intimate ambience. We ordered the Blood & Sand ($13.00) and Summer Breeze($8.50) cocktails and enjoyed them both. We also tried the of Dungeness Crab appetizer ( $19.00) which was refreshing and delicious. For entrees, we had the Salmon ($40.00) and the Branzino fish ( $38.00 ) , which were both very satisfying. This dining experience could have been perfect were it not for a waitress who was less than friendly and seemed to disappear after taking our order. Normally, the service is excellent. Also, we found the patio misters used for cooling diners down on that hot evening a bit annoying as they sprayed the mist directly on our food and drinks for several minutes at a time. Overall, still a great fine dining experience and we will come back.

You know that memory of your early years when you felt secure and comfortable at your mothers table on a special evening celebrating being together? The experience brings to life what you’ve yearned for in gastronomy. An iconic establishment on the Inland Empire for years has consistently and truly served its loyal followers and newbies alike the extraordinary culinary expertise of Chef Palagi. My all time favorite is the oxtail in a red wine reduction over a bed of pasta!! But the daily specials are varied and outstanding. Consistently one of the most concurred eateries by the upper echelon in Riverside’s prime.

this spot is nice for special occasions dinner, or as others there, after work happy hour with fun apps - went with another couple as a special birthday dinner treat. I had the wild mushroom ravioli which was incredible, loaded with fresh mushrooms and very filling, started with a nice "Leone" salad (yummy roasted red peppers on greens with goat cheese, pine nuts and balsamic) - rest of the group had caesar salad which they were very delighted with and fresh from the oven bread served with the meal. Another had the Risotto of Porcini mushrooms which they rated A+ and two had the Linguine Checca which I tried a bite of and it was eccellente. Paired with a nice choice of wines by the glass or bottle and we had an exceptional evening! Some could say it was a little pricy, but hey, this isn't Olive Garden - but with only high quality ingredients, excellent chef, presentation, fine dining room/ambience I'd call it a steal!! This will be my new go to place for special occasions and family gatherings!! Saluti!!

My birthday was yesterday. We had a reservation for 5:30 p.m. and were seated promptly. Everything was clean. The staff was polite and very attentive. They all wore their masks properly. The food and beverages were delicious. This was my first time back in 7 years and it was excellent. I liked that they seated all guests relatively spaced apart per COVID as this made me feel comfortable and safe. Thank you, Mario's place for the authentic, delicious, Italian cuisine.

This restaurant is a staple in Riverside. It's been around for at least 30 years. Delicious and you'll never have a bad meal. If you like a good garlic Caesar salad there is no better anywhere. Located across the street from the valet Entrance of the Historic Mission Inn is a plus as well. BEST RESTAURANT IN RIVERSIDE.

Amazing dining experience. From the moment you are greeted to the time you leave, the service is impeccable. The menu options make it difficult to decide what to try but we all agreed, the food was fantastic. Wine selection fabulous and a fully stocked bar. Don’t forget to order dessert!!!!

Phillip, the host, found me a spot at the bar on a super busy, fully reserved night. My server Emily made my experience pleasurable. I hadn't been back since Covid but everything was as expected, phenomenal. Start to finish it was a spectacular meal, lovely ambiance and food to write home about.

Some of the best pasta I ever had.
A higher class place with good variety and a smell you'll carry out with you for hours.
The Alcohol selection is fantastic too I can tell you first hand!
They know how to make their drinks!

We were staying at the Mission Inn and found Mario's Place for dinner. It's across the street from the hotel.
Good food. The bread is outstanding, so don't pass that up.
Great service and friendly staff.

First off, the interior is beautiful. We had the luxury of sitting on the back patio and it was lovely. We arrived early without a reservation, but it filled up fast so reservations highly recommended.
The wait staff were off the chain. They were very well educated about all of the food sources and wine options. Emma & Ariyanna were delightful. They spoke of each dish with love actually.
They did ask one of the other staff to help select our wine, Kevin(?). So that wine was quite possibly the best wine I have had in years. Soooo smooth.. 2018 Three Valleys Zin-Sirah-Mataro. Thank you Kevin...you made my year!
So for the apps we started with the calamari. Tender rings with two dipping sauces which were the very best. So there was a fresh tomato and a lemon butter. We kept ordering more bread to dive into both sauces.
The lemon butter sauce, we ordered more, to dip our crusty fresh italian bread in. Gosh if they bottled that I would have brought 110 bottles home.
There were two appetizers on special 1) Hamachi Credu (thinly sliced Mediterranean sashimi with a citrus & lime cintrinette topped with cherry tomatoes, microgreens & espellete pepper and 2) Boratta on a prosciutto bed with arugula & herb infused olive oil & sea salt. Both were exceptional..
The Lobster Bisque was incredible with a little twist...lighter than most but rich in flavor and Dungeness Crab on top....so yum yums.
For mains we had the the NY Prime Rib with a gorgeous bearnaise sauce served with some tender french green beans. Wild Duck Ragu Pacchin Corti with wide noodles, olives and shaved parm.
And then came dessert. A trio of a tangerine sorbet in the orange peel...soooo tangeriney (I guess thats not a word ha ha). Then a handmade twix cake and some crema dessert. We soon discovered that twix cake was amazing in the crema mouse dessert. Dessert coffee was also smooth and nutty.
We also had a great port with our sweets (see in pictures)
I will rush back next time Im in Riverside.

Food is outstanding. Service is a bit too much as they’re always at the table but if the lamb chops are on the menu get them. Lemoncello very good as well.

I was in Riverside visiting family and craving Italian food. I have been to the Mission Inn and all around the Mission Inn to eat but never to Mario’s. Mario’s is directly across the street! There were 4 of us for dinner. We parked in the parking garage behind the restaurant but there are some street parking slots in front. Between us we ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, the Bucatini Amatriciana, the Marinara Pizza and the Leone Salad.
I had the bucatini dish and it was absolutely delicious. I have already told my brother that when we go back to Mario’s, I will order exactly the same thing. That’s how much I loved it. Bucatini is a long pasta that’s hollow in the middle. My sister in law is gluten free and they made her a gluten free pasta dish which was very much enjoyed by her. I split the Leone salad, yum! If you like goat cheese and roasted red peppers you will enjoy this salad.
Mario’s is a very pretty restaurant inside. There is a full bar area and bar seating. From the moment we walked in, we were treated very kindly and efficiently by all who waited on us. If you get a chance to go, please do try Mario’s.

Food is always good and with decent portion sizes. Been there for dinner with family a couple times now. It is a perfect set up to have dinner at, as it is directly across the street from the Mission Inn if you are there to go walk and view the Festival of Lights afterwards that the Inn does each Christmas season. I can get busy towards Christmas, so I would recommend getting reservations in November if you can.

Although I usually prefer Southern Italian food, Mario's did not disappoint. We had tried for a restaurant at the Mission Inn and were lucky to get a table at Mario's. We sat in their private room...highly suggested if you prefer to dine quietly. I had the ravioli and it was beyond my expectations. Service impeccable.
