We've eaten here often and tried to make reservations prior to our trip, but they were full. So on Sunday night after 8pm, we took a chance and they were able to seat us after a small wait. We bought a bottle of Syrah and waited, they did a great job. The scallops on mashed potatoes as an appetizer is to die for, if you had a couple of them it could be a full meal. I had sausage pasta that evening, I've also had rack of lamb before, always very very good! Their consistant service, good food, reasonable price list of a BIG selection of local wines make this a go to place EVERY time we go to PASO.

We were seated in the back garden of the hotel Piccolo, as an agreement between the restaurant and the hotel. The tables are at least 10 ft away from each other, and the garden was beautiful with a fire pit and gas-heating lamp for every table. The service was attentive, atmosphere romantic and food was refined and well-executed. The Spaghetti with bottarga was the best, as they used very high quality bottarga. It really tasted like they did in Sardinia. If you can get a reservation, try out Il Cortile.

We enjoyed everything we ordered, but thought some things were *really* over-priced. The "piatto di formaggio" was $19; it had 6 small wedges of cheese, six crackers and a few raspberries. The waitress told us what 2 of the 3 kinds of cheese were, but said the third kind was "formaggio." When I said, "Yes, but "formaggio" is just Italian for cheese ... what KIND is it?" she answered, parmesan.
One of us had salmon ($28) and one of us had the homemade ravioli ($27). There weren't many ravioli on the plate, which ... but his time ... left my husband very hungry. It was odd, because the dessert plates were large. The cannoli were very good.

This is a restaurant that deserves its ranking on Trip Advisor. The tables are spread out properly and the staff was masked. The service was professional, yet friendly. The carpaccio appetizer was over the top and our main course lobster was delicious. My husband’s steak was perfectly cooked and my son in law’s pasta. Was very tasty. Even the bread was good. Highly recommended!

Group of friends enjoying the COVID outdoor atmosphere. Service was OK, not great. I ordered soup and empanada. They were OK, not great. The powdered parmesan cheese over powered the taste of the empanada. I couldn't finish it. I will say their cocktails rocked. I'm in no hurry to go back.

My husband and I had high hopes for this place given the stellar reviews. We were a bit disappointed. We had the crostini, which was overall yummy. The crostini/bread itself was lackluster. We had sausage fettuccine which was very good and the best part of our meal. I had a steak (ribeye) which was disappointing. It lacked flavor and salt and I was not blown away. My husband had the Osso Buco which also lacked flavor and salt. We may just be spoiled with the amazing Italian food in the Los Angeles area that this couldn’t compete, but we wished we had enjoyed our meals more. The restaurant itself was also not special or romantic. We could have been in any strip mall restaurant. They did do great social distancing but otherwise the decor was nothing special. We likely will not be back.

We just love this restaurant. It's so dependable: Always a delicious meal, great wine selections, and friendly service. We had a lovely Valentine's Day dinner, and then because the other restaurant we booked the following night couldn't even come close to accommodating us for our 8 PM dinner reservation, we called Il Cortile and they very kindly got us in to a table, and were so very gracious. The octopus appetizer is to die for, as is their osso bucco, which varies by season. Homemade pastas are wonderful too. Romantic ambience, with comfortable lighting and lovely decor. We try to plan our trips up and down this area of CA so we can have dinner here when we pass through Paso. Highly recommended!

Mindy and I enjoy this place everytime we come to Paso Robles. Their service is great and the food is wonderful. Mindy had a special black truffle risotto which she really enjoyed and I had the lobster ravioli which was perfect. They have a full bar and offer desserts but we are always too full to partake. Great place.

Maybe I am wrong for expecting more. Maybe I should not make a definitive judgement from one visit. I think we disappointed Carrie because we did not want the truffles. I would have loved it but my favorite thing is squab. I asked her how they normally cook squab. She said medium. I should have known right then that this is not a dish they love. I asked her to ask in the kitchen if they could cook it rare to medium rare. She asked and they said yes. It really came out closer to medium. I asked if they could cook my beal chop medium rare to rare. They said yes and it came out pretty close to medium rare.
Interestingly both of my two dishes came with identical vegetables. To me that is unforgivable in a restaurant of this caliber.
The pea soup was absolutely delicious. I have not had a lot of pea soups but this the best.
My wife had the home made fettuccini with chef Santos beef ragu. My wife thought it should have had more flavor.
The truth is the food was good but in a restaurant of this level it should have been more exciting.
The ambiance is really nice. Joanna who brought out the dishes was a delight. She smiled and asked if there was anything else she could do for us each time she came with the dishes. Carrie was attentive but I felt like she had too many tables to take care of. Under the circumstances she did a good job.
I think that I would like to come back on a Friday or Saturday evening.

Our first time at this place and it was not a very good one. We were a party of four and one of us has celiac and they had many gluten free options, so this was a good place we thought. We had reservations in advance and were the first party to be seated, and also brought in our own wine for dinner. As we began asking about specials and the gluten free options the waiter took our questions and then return stating they had no gluten free pastas of any kind and that they were all out. We asked for items that were available and there was maybe 3 items. We asked if there could be some accommodations to the menu about not placing sauce on certain food to avoid the gluten and the waiter went to ask the cooks and they said they could not accommodate in anyway. They stated we had to pay the same amount for less food on a plate and could not substitute any items. When we asked they waiter why we couldn’t substitute a side dish for a non gluten side dish he laughed and walked away. I guess having a disease is something to laugh about. So no kind of accommodations and when asked it they could compensate the corkage fee the waiter again laughed and walked away. Needless to say we will not be going back to that place and as a gluten free reviewer. I wanted to let others know that they will not make any type of accommodations for you or others seeking that, so you may want to try a different place more accommodating.

Food and service were great. Had crostini app, fettuccini, lamb Angelito and Salmon. Crostini was a little rich and thought fettuccini was the best dish but all plates were cleaned. Service was fast and server (Austin) was phenomenal. Wine list was a little pricey but server recommended a great Chianti for $60. Would definitely go back again.

So difficult for fine restaurants to deliver their desired level of ambiance that their chef needs to appreciate all their efforts. Il Cortile has gone a long way to delivering that experience in such circumstances. Probably one of the best restaurants in Paso Robles. Menu is not huge, but has many fine choices. My classic Caprese Salad was probably the best I have ever had - looked great, quality buffalo mozzarella and ripe tomatoes with that fresh basil - delicious. My Pappadelli with a Wild Boar sauce (no horns thank heavens) was absolutely delicious. Service was very warm and professional. The bottom line - would we return? Can't wait!

Enjoyed dinner here with another couple. We brought our own wine (and had their usual corkage fee). Wife had the thick pasta noodles with boar, friend had the sea catch fish, veal chop, I had rib eye. My rib eye was more in the medium side of “medium rare” but the cut of meat was still moist and tender. They bathed it in olive oil and salt and it was simply delicious, skimpy sides of lightly grilled veggies. My wife’s pasta dish with its creamy sauce was very flavorful and tasty. We shared a cheese plate appetizer and split a fruit tarts for dessert. Service was prompt and fairly good though cold but the waiter easily accommodated our request for separate checks. Might consider going back again if we were in the area but there are a number of good places to dine in Paso Robles.

I started with the caprese salad, the tomatoes and mozzarella were very good with a delicious aged vinegar dressing. My husband had the Octopus which was good ( but not the best he has had). I then ordered a 1/2 order of fettuccine with black truffles which was outstanding! I had the Sea Bass special of the day. The presentation was beautiful but it tasted very fishy. ( For the special you would think it would be fresher) My husband ordered the Veal Chop which I tasted and both of us agreed it was good but had better ones elsewhere. It was grisly and the we felt this was a choice cut instead of a prime cut. My husband ordered the custard fruit tart and I order the tiramisu both were excellent.
On the internet it said wine corkage was $20 they charged us $25. The waiter and over all service was fantastic. The have an outdoor patio which would be nice on a warm evening. I would go back but was a bit disappointed for it being a one star Michelin.

From our knowledgable waitress to the delicious food, and an outdoor table on a beautiful night, our dinner at Il Cortile was wonderful. We started with the Caprese - tomato confit, bufala mozzarella, pesto and fresh basil, delicious. They didn't have any gluten-free pasta so I had the Osso Bucco which was fabulous, paired with Risotto. My son had some of their fresh bread (it smelled delicious) and the Branzino - served filleted (much more appetizing than other restaurants that serve it whole).
