We are on a quest to find the definitive "Best Burger" in Laguna Beach. Lumberyard has their famous "Signature" burger and it seemed like a good place to start our quest - so we ordered some sliders and the burger. The sliders were good and...More

This is my husband and my favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach. We've been coming here for over 5 years and are never disappointed. Some of our favorite appetizers are the fried calamari and grilled artichokes. Our friends love the artichoke dip and clam chowder. Our...More

Always a very good meal at reasonable cost considering the upscale feel and location. Being at the very tip of Forest Drive, this restaurant has a local feel to it as many of the Laguna Beach tourists don't venture this far up the street. Solid...More

Good food and reasonable price. We had soup and a sandwich for lunch as we really did not want much. It hit the spot.

Best filet mignon’ ever. Also got the porterhouse steak which was awesome and both cooked to perfection. Scalloped potatoes were done in a stack and very good as well as the broccoli spears. Wines are extensive as well as a full bar if wanted. Recommended...More

Even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, they seated us immediately. The onion soup was perfect-not too watery or overly salty. Caesar salad was average. Meatloaf was really good, with the outside of the loaf lightly charred. The tarter sauce for the fish...More

This is a very attractive restaurant on the inside with a small eating patio outside. The service was quick and professional, and the prices were moderate. We split the fish and chips, and the quality of the food exceeded expectations.

Description
In 1912, at the bend of Forest Avenue, 23 year old Joe Jahraus opened the Laguna Lumber Company, he and his father(cigar maker, first postmaster and real estate agent) built the beautiful French Normandy building that is here today.
Prior to the lumberyard opening, building supplies needed to be dragged in by mule or floated in on the tides, and therefore, Laguna Beach had less than three hundred permanent residences. After the lumberyard opened, the area began to grow at unprecedented rates, transforming it from a tent town into a thriving city.
Laguna Lumber operated for seventy three years, sixty two of them in this location and its' architecture, influenced by Joe's tour abroad in World War I, is one of the most significant influences on the town's aesthetic. Half timbers, mud walls and shingled roofs grace many of the downtown storefronts and homes throughout the city because of this landmark.
Today, 384 Forest is home to Lumberyard - a contemporary American restaurant.
