This place dates back to the 1900s. It thrives even after having gone through prohibition, the Great Depression and most recently a worldwide pandemic. The location is incredible overlooking the ocean in Half Moon Bay just south of the nearby legendary Mavericks surf spot. There...is plenty of space with tables inside overlooking the ocean with a great bar and outside seating at cozy tables with fire pits and space heaters. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The food is amazing. Do yourself a favor and visit this wonderful destination next time you're in the area.More

When in town on business and finding a more popular restaurant far too crowded, I decided to give Miramar Beach a try and was very pleased with both my meal and service. I have a very weird medical diet that I need to follow and...it's not always easy to find something to eat but my server, Noemi, was very sweet and kind and accommodating. All of my dishes were spot on, and the view was great!More

We went there for lunch and loved the food so much that we decided to go back for dinner. Really great views. A warning though, they close at seven! We walked in just a little before seven not realizing this. They were nice and still...sat us because they remembered us from lunch but did feel a little rushed and some annoyance from the staff. Personally, 7 PM is a typical dinner time for us and I would think others. Closing at 7 seems a bit early!More

We thought we’d check out this restaurant. It’s been almost 15 years since we have visited. They have a large patio now. Service is still stellar. The staff, from bartender to support staff were gracious, friendly, and efficient. The raw oysters came with different sauce...choices. It was fresh, briny and tasted so the sea. Perfect! Our mains took a little longer. The kitchen was slammed, we’re told. The linguine with shrimp and clams was worth the wait. The sauce and seafood adorned the pasta and it was delicious. My spinach and mushroom omelet was cooked just so. I’m so relieved they did not flood it with cheese because the mushrooms and the spinach were fresh and well prepared and seasoned already. It needed to also stand out. They gave us warm sourdough bread with a crisp crust and a moist body. All in all a great meal. We had no room for dessert. Next time!More

The view was amazing. It will depend on where you sit though. •not too busy for a Friday night. Got a nice seat by the windows •we were able to see whales and seals while eating •cocktails were not very good. Couldn’t finish one of...them •bread and butter come before the meal but the butter is hard and doesn’t spread. Overall disappointing •chowder was not that great. Not even in the top 3 of chowders we tried over the weekend • dinner was not very good. Extremely over priced. We were able to get better food and way better prices all weekend while visiting half moon bay. • did not order dessert or coffee at the end of the meal. •waited over 20 mins for the check to come. Not sure if this was because it was at sunset so they assume people want to stay but we were clearly done and just waiting. Probably will not eat here again.More

The ratings are not the best, but we had an excellent meal here. The calamari was delicious, as was the clam chowder. Enjoyed the lightly battered sole, it was excellent. Good service and the hostess was very friendly. Seaside location provided great sunset vistas. Dining...room is nothing special, but the live entertainment made the vibe special and very enjoyable. Decent, reasonable wine list.More

This place should not even be on a list of good restaurants. I would give it zero stars if that was an option. The service is so bad that it has known no equal in my experience. When I tried to tell the hostess, in...a constructive way, she gave me excuses about how hard it is to hire and how little the management cared. Really??? I had to flag down whoever was walking by, with their head in the clouds, to request water, wine, and bread. The server never made eye contact and couldn’t even stand still before the table. There was no manager on the premises. Food was only okay, nothing you couldn’t get at a Denny’s. It has a beautiful ocean view, a waste of real estate. Go one mile south to Sam’s Chowder House, where you’ll get excellently prepared food, very good personable service, and the same beautiful ocean view. And maybe you’ll avoid the bad oyster experience I had at the Miramar.More

Whatever you do, don't order a "Caesar" salad at the Miramar unless you like mayonnaise-coated ribs of tasteless romaine without the slightest hint of garlic, olive oil, anchovy, or anything else an actual Caesar dressing has. On the other hand, the oceanside location is great,...so you might order just a drink, take a window seat, and enjoy the view.More

Been here a few times for dinner and enjoyed it but this dinner and service was not good. Our waiter seemed to be confused and lost on taking our dinner order. We actually had 3 different waiters coming back to our table has I don't...know why. The fish n chips was bland and the fries were over done . My calamari steak had no flavor and was like eating a rubber band it was so chewy. The dinner view was the best part. Feb13,2022More

Nice lunch spot with indoor and outdoor seating with views! Everything was fresh tasting. Chowder was loaded with goodies, calamari was HUGE and ceviche was some of the best I have ever had. Only downfall was service wasn’t super on top of it.

Four of us went for dinner on Friday night. We were seated almost immediately; our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails were good and the spicy shrimp appetizer was excellent. The calamari steaks dinner were delicious. The sand dabs special was excellent and the...steak and lobster special was excellent. Our server made it a pleasant dining experience. The view was spectacular. Dessert cocktails were also great, especially the Devils Slide. A little loud for conversation.More

My sisters and I had enjoyed this restaurant a few months ago, so when my husband and I were vacationing in the area I wanted him to try it out. We were pleased with our food - the flavor and the size of the servings....We enjoyed Terry Disley, the live piano player. He is a pleasant gentleman and a great entertainer. We were happy with our waitress as she did her best to keep our water glasses full and answered my endless questions about how the food was prepared, etc. If I am in the area I will definitely return to eat here!More

This is common it seems among many restaurants currently. Took another couple there today for lunch at noon & waited in line to get in & chose outdoor seating - pleasant with view of ocean across the street. If you decide to dine here stick...with their main, recommended dishes - such as crab cakes or crab sandwiches as did other 3 in our party. We did order fried calamari to share & below average as we agreed - just not that good or appetizing & PLEASE add regular cocktail sauce to this app - the tartar sauce and orangish-type sauce not very good. One of our party ordered a "Fat Tire" beer & told "out of stock" Waitress then told him what was available & he orders. Waitress shows up with some other beer different beer saying they're running low on everything & would the beer she brought be acceptable [? - funny, but true and good guy that he is my bro in-law said "Sure".} I decided to order 1/2 dozen oysters for $23 - which were each the size of a penny as in tiny - all 6 would fit on a tablespoon and would not order again. Biggest disappointment was my entree which was ahi tuna with fresh mango & avocado in a light dressing with chips - sounds good! For those of you familiar this dish usually comes with fried wonton chips - not so today as a handful of generic tortilla chips which doesn't work. The mango was unedible as not ripe and small chunks were hard & crunchy [ie: should not have been served like this]. 2 & 1/2 slices of avocado and then too much big chunks of ahi tuna with very light tasting dressing on bottom of bowl. While $20 for this app it was just disappointing and I left at least 1/2 of it uneaten [several pieces of the ahi were mushi [?] and I quickly lost all interest in eating any more of it. Been here numerous times and usually better than today & BTW the service by our waitress was very good and she was pleasant & polite. Hoping they will get back up to speed soon and the quality of food overall will improve. We'll pay another visit soon, however I'll be a bit more careful with my ordering next time.More
